Also, slightly off topic, I think everyone should move away from the mindset that it is based on a military simulator.

Bring back the debug menu! or at least another way to find out my humanity!
terrvik replied to elf cakes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ok. Because statistics and fun goes hand in hand. -
Standalone - add "check magazine" action to realistically determine how much ammunition remains
terrvik replied to pcjake's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That's kind of the point. As little information as possible should come from the game itself. -

Make the blood icon only show when you are bleeding. Same with the others. There, solved. Make this optional though. -

There are other mechanics planned that will help you if you have a disability, there is no need for a big box in the corner telling you how much blood runs through your veins. And yes it is a game and there are many other games as well. If this doesn't make the baguette in your pants go wild then play something else? If I find out that DayZ isn't for me after all I won't play it anymore, not whine about how it doesn't act like other games. -
DayZBrahs EU Servers RELAUNCH SOON! NEW FEATURES!!

Sounds boring. -
Farming is bad as well in case you wonder.

It is definitely bad. Just because you CAN drive your car on the wrong side of the road that does not mean you should. I hope server hoppers will be punished in the future, in annoying ways to match their annoying behaviour. :)

"Bad serial key in setup" (different)

It's important to verify the local files for Arma (while admin) first and start it up to let it do the first time install. Then do the same thing for OA. Maybe you already tried that though. -

If you kill alot of guys you have a low humanity and if you give alot of people cookies and sunshine you have a high humanity? This is how you know and this should be the only way to know. :) It was called Debug Monitor for a reason and was always intended to be removed. There are some private hives out there that have custom Status Monitors and I would argue that they ruin the immersion. -
Again, I see your point but i do not agree with you. :) I played this mod since April and I have always had the most fun when it got more difficult. The first time rocket accidentally increased the zombie numbers by what seemed to be 1000% was great and the removal of starting gear was a step in the right direction. Does it really need to be popular? Do we really need helicopters to keep DayZ fun? Yes, they should be there, as should a lot of other things, but should everyone be able to just hop in a fly? I agree that there should be no need for teamwork all the time (in fact I think a lot of people on these forums get stuck in the Arma military mindset and wants to play DayZ with a squad mentality). In my opinion as much military influence as possible should be removed to give DayZ a more "civilian" feeling. It could be a game that "everyone" can play but if you want the cool stuff you REALLY have to work for it and not just by grinding boars in the woods to reach a higher level: you must learn skills for real and that is a pretty original idea for a game. My ideal game would be no external communication (only in game), no global chat system, no statistics or killcounts, no external loot maps, no end goals, no tutorials or guides that explain the mechanics of the game (you have to learn stuff from the ground up, everything from disease symptoms and how to cure them to what plants in the woods are edible). There should be no way to restore blood or increase your temperature instantly so that if you make a mistake you pay for it. It's ambitious and probably impossible but it would feel fresh with a game you play for the experience and not for the entertainment, if you can see what I am trying to say. Like whatching a horror movie: it's not fun, but you enjoy it. And just to be clear: I am useless and would die all the time in a more difficult scenario. :)

Masturbate?

To be fair I think all the points you bring up should be changed for more difficulty and actual use of real world skills. The game should be hilariously unforgiving and brutal in the difficulty department! What I like the most is the fact that this "game" spices "gameplay" up by not following conventional game rules. There are hundreds of game (which I love, just to point that out) where you can fly around and have fun times shooting things and make stuff explode and just because that is fun in other games doesn't mean DayZ needs it. Maybe this got confusing. I confuse even myself most of the time. :)

How to "officially" pronounce "Day Z" ?
terrvik replied to Awearness's topic in New Player Discussion
I'll just go on and call it DayZäta from now on since that's how we pronounce it here! -
I really can't see no reason why the game should not be like this, and I would probably not even know how to open the fucking doors on a helicopter. Flying helicopters should be extremely difficult and repairing them should take some real know-how to manage. It has nothing to do with "clans" or imbalance, if you know how to fly a helicopter you should be a valuable asset to a group and maybe even teach others in the game. How awesome wouldn't that be?

I recently played through Dishonored and the only thing that was negative was those damn achievments. It made me reload the game jsut to get the Ghost status at the end of every mission rather then just play it and enjoy it. So please, no!

What about making equiment more rare(especially weapons)?
terrvik replied to Heathcz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The times I have had the most fun playing is when I have the worst luck, like having only one mag for my current low tier weapon and struggling to find food and water. It made me move more and think about how to confront problems since ammo was so scarce. Just sayin'. :) -
You have the wrong version of Arma 2 would be my guess.

Happened to me sometimes since your character is swimming a couple of seconds before respawn.

Banned from CA 20. WAS NOT HACKING
terrvik replied to CannedYeti's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
No, just that there really isn't that much that can be done if it was a private hive server (which I guess since they add custom vehicles). If it is all public hive and there are rules people cry tears about it, if there are private hives that no one "official" has any power over people cry tears. There is just no pleasing anyone. :) -
That's one.

Why is this such a big deal?
