  1. Yep. The simulation part is great, it's the military part I dislike. Personal opinion and nitpicking obviously but it's the difference between calling yourself a "squad" or a "group". One fits a mil-sim, the other more fits a survival sim with zombies.
  2. Absolutely. Hopefully it steers away from that focus (without forcing it). The attitude that there should be a lot of guns and focus on military gameplay just because DayZ spawned from a military simulation seems hard to break down, but in my opinion it is necessary that it is! ::)
  3. Same here. The survival aspects and the interactions with other players comes first by a long way and is what made me play from the start and what made me continue to play. Guns are secondary, a backdrop and part of the setting; as is the zombies.

    E3 and our attendance

Did you know that there is some discussion whether glass is a liquid or not?
  5. Yeah, kinda like that. Since the game now tracks "objects" it should be possible to create new ones in the database when a certain value is met. And if one server manages the economy globally it should be possible to only have one of these famous items in the world at any given time, just as rocket has said. The difference would be that some items in a sense would be user created! That surprises me as well, but my guess is that there really isn't much to discuss yet since we know so little about it. When we see it in action the amount of discussions will go wild!
  6. I wonder if there will be a system further down the line where say a player has modified a weapon with attachments, customizations (like if there will be a system for coloring a gun or attach stuff like mementos to make it unique) and other stuff and then killing a large number of either survivors or infected, making that unique weapon "famous". Like.. saving the "preset" in the database and making it spawn extreeeeemely rarely once the original owner dies. Very strange sentence. Hope someone gets what I'm trying to say. :P

    Day Z no signal HELP!!!!

I meant the settings in game, not in Windows! If it's only DayZ that won't work then it probably are the Arma settings that are off. :)

    Day Z no signal HELP!!!!

It probably has to do with the resolution or refresh rate. Try going for a lower resolution and setting it to 60Hz. If it works, go up until it stops working again.
  10. EDIT: Mostly the same stuff, but some new info on night time. EDIT2: Actually, after finishing watching the whole thing this was quite a good interview. EDIT: Just now realized how funny it is that the biggest complaint with DayZ is that there is no release date, that it keeps getting pushed back and was set to release six months ago. And Dean wears VALVe around his neck.

    Suggestion for new zombie [SA]

Of course a piece of fiction can be kept realistic, or authentic, even with zombies in it in the same way science fiction can be realistic or fantastical. If you look around the interwebs for a few minutes you can find many examples of behavior altering parasites and infections in nature, mostly among insects. One of those is the fungus the infected in The Last of Us are based on for example. I would much rather prefer if the infected in DayZ have different attributes or behavior depending on who they were before getting infected. Someone could have damaged eyes and therefore only relying on hearing, there could be overweight infected; slow but tougher to take down or we could have well trained muscular infected that are strong, fast and hard to take down.
  12. At 10:55 in the last video (the Kotaku Q&A one) Dean says something along the lines of "... that's why I have made you wait six mon... well, maybe a bit more than six months. Kinda gave away something there. No, not really." MhmHM? Does this mean anything? Earlier release? Later release? Speculate!

    Teach me the bandit ways!

It's against other players. I'm not really sure if you paid attention to what he said but the reason for him just firing one shot at a time is because it is hard to locate the source when it comes out of nowhere and is unexpected. It's a good lesson in patience and reading the enemy.

    Teach me the bandit ways!

Two really good videos by the Arma Ninja Master himself.
  16. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-13-dean-hall-in-talks-to-bring-dayz-standalone-to-ps4 "Dean Hall interested in bringing DayZ Standalone to PS4" Kind of the same things he talked about in the livestream, but whatever.
  17. I think he was just playing it safe. In other interviews and reddit posts he has said everything from "release is imminent", "very soon" and "we just have to deal with some administrative stuff". So my guess is that anything can happen.
  18. Gotta love the honesty and enthusiasm of Dean.

  20. Just The Divsion to go now then it's time for DayZ on the gamespot stream.
  21. Best quote from yesterday's live cam: - Do you want to say hello to Dean Hall? - Who? A few awkward seconds followed.
  22. The FOV slider also helps. :)
