It's a bit different since DayZ has allot more pre built hype and so will have more players smashing the servers from day one. MC grew quite slowly.

To be fair, I remember the first weeks when seeing another player was a moment of "Oh, look, another survivor! Let's go over there and see if we can help him!" rather than "Oh, shit, well I missed the coast anyway...". :) I honestly believe that streamers are a part of the problem though. Their goal is to make exciting content and playing DayZ as a pure survival sim, while very exciting to play, isn't very exciting to watch. So of course new players watching will try to mimic that kind of playstyle. I very much hope that the SA won't cater to streamers as much as has been suggested (can't be bothered to dig up actual quotes, but I remember there being some). Stuff like Survivor GameZ is awesome but it unfortunately turns DayZ into just another competitive online shooter focusing on points. EDIT: clarified a bit

Totally agree. I don't want devblogs showing off features and cool new stuff; it's more then enough with a small update about the overall status of the project and maybe short explanations of what's being worked on. The rest I want to discover for myself. :)

Also some kind of momentum system. After the first jump allot of momentum would be lost until you build some up with more running. But running deplete stamina as well, as does jumping to begin with.

Can I play this game on an apple mac??
terrvik replied to danablo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Of course you can. I have been playing on a macbook since the start. EDIT: Sadly you must install windows to do it. -
When is the next devblog?

You misspelt Dslyecxi. Oh, the irony! Double irony even! :) (It looks amazing...)

Dean has previously stated that twitter is great because he can quickly post stuff while compiling data and such. Same with reddit. Right now he is semi active on both twitter and reddit, almost as if he is... rendering something and posting while waiting for it to complete? B)

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
terrvik replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
You are allowed to think however you wish, but I kind of had enough after seeing ten plus posts earlier today about how every reddit user should be shot and how the entirety of reddit is a cancer on the internet. I really thought we should stay above that kind of behaviour. If you can't figure out the reason why rocket posts over on reddit, because it's very very easy to figure that one out (even before rocket himself explained why), well then that's your problem. Think about it for a while. Figure it out. It's simple. -
Alpha is happening. Sweet.

Why do peoples actions need to dictate their appearance?
terrvik replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't know, I use this in the mod all the time. Approach someone, say hello, lower my weapon and ask him to do the same. Switch the defaults and add rifle on your back and other things and it can be used more to read intentions. -

Is the heartbeat thing still in? Don't think I ever noticed it. Anyway I think the change of default stance from combat ready to lowered weapon will be great for reading who is relaxed or who is ready to start a fight when you interact. -

This "us vs. them" attitude is getting really annoying. Stop whining. Grow up. -

I thought it was very refreshing when I sat up watching the E3 stream. Hour after hour of devs talking about how their game essentially were blowjobs on a disc, with standard trope words (like the ones listed by Dallas above). Then Dean arrived and started talking about every other game but his and just casually chatting with the interviewer which to me just showed honesty and enthusiasm.
