    Hardcore Server - Poll

Cool, I logged off for now (not really time to play at the moment, just logged in quick too check out the performance... seemed fine!) but I'll be back later.

    Hardcore Server - Poll

Died after 20 seconds. Remove side chat and I might stay around!
  4. Two things that really needs to be added: - When moving through rough terrain (forests mainly) movement speed should be significantly decreased. A good map reader knows that sometimes it's just more efficient to walk around a forest than through it, and it would make it more interesting when chasing someone if they try to hide in the woods as they can hide easier but has to move slower. As performance issues makes it impossible to include more foliage and such this would work to simulate rough terrain. - You should be able to knock yourself out if you run with high speed into an object. If you run and freelook with Alt in a forest and run straight into a tree this should hurt you, or knock you down. I would also argue that there should be a risk of tripping when running (sprinting) in rough terrain based on factors such as your stamina and general health but this might be a bit too "random".
  5. It affects me because Team Rocket will be forced to design the game to work with a third person perspective while I believe first person is a better fit. And the point of my statement is that if DayZ were to follow popular opinion the SA would have traders, safe zones, choice of spawn, too much loot and so on. Private hives saved and ruined the mod at the same time in my opinion. I never said you or anyone else aren't allowed your opinion though. I'm just arguing my side.
  6. The current state of the mod is proof why.

    My experience with Frankie.

What's the point even if it is?
  8. 1. The interviewer asked about that episode - Dean answered 2. Dean said he got back to work and said "they needed a prison", not that he just came up with the idea. Maybe he just realized why it was a good idea and why everyone wanted one. 3. Dean was having a social interaction with another human being. The conversation was lead into The Walking Dead so he stayed around that topic. That's how conversation work. 4. Everyone and their mother thought about a prison after watching the walking dead (well, some of us did when we read the graphic novel ten years ago, but you know...) It blows my mind how much some people have as their goal to do nothing but spread negativity. Lots of these types of people around here.
  9. That's another thing yeah; walking with bikes. Actually... I hope they introduce gears to cars so we can put vehicles out of gear and push them if they run out of gas. Or set them on fire and push them down a hill because mayhem is fun. EDIT: Would of course also make the whole driving thing more interesting if you need to know how to shift gears and also give more of a reason to (sorry for bringing this up, no needless arguing intended) stay in first person in a car to be able to see the dashboard since it would help a lot more. Especially since I hope the current UI where you can see speed and fuel levels will be removed.
  10. I agree that a wound should be needed to look after carefully. Keeping it clean, changing bandages and so on should be a priority. While you are wounded movement speed should be decreased significantly and depending on wound certain actions should be disabled (climbing ladders, using weapons, chopping wood... whatever.)
  11. As an experienced festival goer I know that if you walk with a backpack full of sleeping gear, canned foods, a tent, multiple sets of clothing and other junk you will die after ten minutes in a pool of sweat and shame. Especially if the sun is out. I would like this to be something to consider. Travelling light should really be an option and you really should need a vehicle to loot a supermarket or another camp to load all the stuff into. Multiple pair of socks should be a neccessity.
  12. Yes. It is the true that will make a pleasure.
  13. You mean like holding a key and moving your head up and down without being locked down to stances?
  14. EDIT: Custom built prison island? Wawwawiwa. EDIT2: "Bohemia Interactive, 2014" hah! :)
  15. I would also add that with two different perspectives Team Rocket would have to design future features that works both in FPV and TPV, which probably is difficult. One standard that everyone follows is probably better.
  16. I miss the time when there was some actual discussion in this thread.

    The "Hardcore" base

Hardcore in DayZ for me is spawn with nothing, every option (sidechat, crosshairs, waypoints, nametags, death messages yadda yadda) turned off and when you die your computer explodes. I fail to see how that reinforces PvP? :) Again; hardcore describes the experience, not the difficulty or attitude of players. In this case.
  18. Not really about the SA I would guess, but should be interesting anyway. EDIT: Nope, not much said about DayZ at all.
  19. The First person "arguments" isn't about degrading others or their "skill levels", at least not for me. It's about degrading myself, making myself stress when I play and push me far outside my comfort zone. Every time I play on a TPV server it feels like I'm releasing some kind of pressure every time I enter third person. I never complained about being killed or made a point about it being about skill. I use "hardcore" to describe the experience, not the difficulty, that's a big difference.

    DayZ AllStars! (comic)

    It's funny because it's true.
  21. Well, yes and no. I don't think FPV or TPV in general affect difficulty. I do however think FPV makes DayZ more difficult.
  22. You just had to bring Firefly into this, had you. :(
  23. More ridicoulus than you thinking every design desicion should be made with future sales in mind? I hope I am misunderstanding this, please elaborate. :) EDIT: Pretty crap wording from my side. What I mean is that we, as consumers and players, have no reason whatsoever to defend business decisions. Our only interest should be in recieving a good game. If you want TPV because of personal preference then I respect that opinion (I'll damn well argue against it though ;) ) but a lot of people still use the argument that TPV will cause DayZ to sell less like we should be bothered by that (or like that would change my mind about FPV or TPV), which is such a non-point for us as consumers. What arguments do you find so ridicoulus exactly? I think most of the concerns from both camps are valid. Again; the 80+ page thread is proof that this is an issue. I don't think just saying we should ignore these concerns because some potential future customers might lose interest will stop this to be an issue. EDIT2: Still can't seem to actually string a good sentence together. It's 6AM. I'm going somewhere to collapse now.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Tried to find the posts to actually back this up but I know that rocket has said that at least sidechat is gone. Radios will be there to use instead, if you manage to find one. My guess is that there will only be direct communication, radios and the OOC admin chat, or whatever it will be called.
