Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?
FrostDMG replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
LOL! Being logical makes me entitled ok... So, here's this little mod I made, still in alpha, very buggy. Oh wow people are liking what I made... Holy shit! Looks like I've created the most successful and original mod in recent history... I should probably work like a madman to perfect my creation... On second though, I'm off to climb the Everest. YOLO! -

FrostDMG replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I don't know exactly when le Everest trip was booked, however, if he booked it before DayZ exploded - i.e before BI came with the cash monay, then sure that's pretty legit. If however the trip was booked once he saw his mod exploding.... That's weak man... -
I wasn't gonna comment on the first post but LOL. This is the definition of noob. You play for a bit, use a gun once, you aren't able to kill someone with it... Next logical step? TO THE FORUMS! THIS GUY IS CLEARLY BROKEN!

Is the attachment system bad for variety ?

You didn't even read the OP and just posted the same "ITZ ALPHAA LOLL" -
Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
FrostDMG replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
You can't argue with these people. No matter how many experienced players give valid arguments, there's always the "lol helis r cool xDDD" response. You know what else's pretty cool? Tanks, planes and aircraft carriers. Just because something was in the mod or was going to be added to the ALPHA, doesn't mean we should have it in the full release. Giving players what they want is a bad idea. Give them a couple of toys to play with, then they'll appreciate them and adapt - don't give them the entire toy shop. -
Is the attachment system bad for variety ?
FrostDMG replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
TheWizard14 has nailed it. Currently, there's no tradeoff for particular attachments. Attachments should be down to preference and not the flat stat buffs they give. Also, it's far easier to have attachments than "versions" of weapons. How many times have you ignored an ACOG M16 because you had a cammo'd M4, but always wanted the acog on your M4... Now this system allows that to happen. Going back to the archaic system of Arma 2 would be silly. -

If you're calling DayZ a running simulator, I can't even take your topics seriously anymore. All your points have already been counter argued 2 pages back by Etherimp. I don't see this thread going anywere, it's been spinning in circles for past page or so anyhow. -
From the archive: DayZ Mod - NWAF good & bad raid - enjoy!
FrostDMG posted a topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Hey guys, these are two old videos of me and my team looting NWAF. The first one is us using almost all of our vehicles to loot NWAF - not such a good idea. The other one is us looting NWAF while being sneaky - good idea! Hope you find them entertaining - we sure did have fun! -

First person only COULD work in cars if they implemnted picture in picture i.e working mirrors like in Arma 3. -
QFT Epoch and all the other mods with Neutral NPCs should just GTFO. It's basically harder version of wasteland. Not DayZ at all.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
FrostDMG replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, massive vehicle hoarder. We were playing in a group of 8, and since we couldn't fit everyone in the cars we needed other vehicles for raiding camps or NWAF. Here's a funny video I found (this is my group back when we were bored after getting all these cars that we decided to raid NWAF) - pretty funny, would've never happened if there were helis. Oh yeah, my mic didn't record but you get the gist. -

LOL. Without helis, you'd be surprised how long you can keep a cap even in the most OBVIOUS of places. I'm talking 2 weeks. Go to DayZ map and look up the coordinates under my profile pic. That's where we had 1 ural, 1 gaz, 1 uaz and the V3S hidden for 2 weeks on a server before someone found it. We even had tank traps and barbed wire fence to make it extra easy to find. -
Tanks in DayZ. Please. You could at least try harder. 4/10 - bonus points for fooling so many noobs though, so I'll bump your score up to 5.5/10

I was hoping more for orcs to be honest, better cammo and all you know.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
FrostDMG replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
If it's really too much effort to get out of the heli to check vehicles or a camp you found, then how the fuck have you managed to play the stand alone without one... Holy shit. -
Why the fk is this thread still alive? Can you guys not see obvious troll from a mile off?
-
You could probably make that macro with something like AutoHotkey tbh.
-
Well, you can sit behind a corner and watch what someone else's doing, waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack, without ever exposing your position. 3p was pretty necessary for vehicle because how crappy the FOV is and the mirrors didn't work in <Arma 3...

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
FrostDMG replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I gather you've never played with a group with a heli. People LEAVE the server because of the ultimate power that you wield with your heli. The game becomes boring because nobody wants to play on a server where things that you work towards - vehicles or camps - are found within couple of hour by the all seeing heli. Also, trust me, going through all the possible places (on foot) where there COULD be a heli can take you a LOT of hours. The helis might be spread out or all in one place, good luck finding them when you don't have one. -
Lol at the amount of people desperately defending the blatant cheating that is 3p corner peeking... Ha. Ha. Ha.

Fantastic post. I can't imagine how people can read that and still think helis will be good. -
Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
FrostDMG replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Like I said in my other thread, helicopters basically: Nullify distanceMake getting from point A to B completly safe (unless you're flying like a complete spas 10m over NWAF and are wondering why you're getting shot at) - you can't take down a moving heli unless you have a .50 cal and get a lucky shot. All this 7.62 bullshit only works when they're auto hovering. Allow a group to control the map by finding all the camps and vehicles in a matter of minutes - you can just log on after a server restart and fly over every vehicle spawn to see if something's there, or just find every camp on the map and GG.Fact that most of the ground and trees do not render when you're in a heli means looking for players or camps is just too easy. -
Been like this in the mod though, I'm thinking it's an ARMA thing - servers just can't cope respawning new loot and zombies... No idea on the technicalities of this, but it seems like a logical conclusion.
-
DayZ commander for the mod. Also @Caboose, there is a significant performance drop for all of the players if the server hasn't been restarted in a while. This is most noticable on 6 hour restart servers, around thr 5 hour mark you'll be bleeding frames. After restart though, the game runs perfectly.
