Most servers have chat turned off with the only option to use 'Direct Communication'. The range on this is now 80 metres so its quick short range. If playing with friends then they will use - Mumbles, TeamSpeak or Ventrilo.

Enfield ftw. Ammo is plentiful and you get 10 rounds to the clip, shotty you get 2 shots before reloading which can be dangerous if you have many zombies coming. Enfield is also good to mid range as well. EDIT: Winchester > them both.

Yep, try and keep your blood above 9k, any number below this can result in being knocked unconcious, if your blood is 3k or less you will start randomly falling over and passing out as well.

We were all just inst-killed on AU1 about 3-4 hours ago. No warning, just everyone was killed at once. Then Server went down.. because server went down noone could retrieve their corpses...

Yep, I too have a sad story, our group (there was 4 of us) was just casually looting someones tent that we found in the woods :) when a ranged sniper killed one of our group, the rest of us hit the ground and I even took a bullet from one of our own in panic however it didnt kill me. I told them to stay hidden and I ran zigzagging over the hill in an attempt to flank whoever it was. I was running for only a minute or two when I saw someone zigzagging away from me across an open field, I let loose with my AK and got him !!!, then it said Murder 1 :(, I was sad. I am sorry Nosebleed, If you were not the one that killed our group member then I apologise for shooting you, you were just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. I am assuming you might have been attracted to the area by gunshots.... Let me clarify this, if I kill someone that has not killed anyone at all then I become a murderer, then if someone kills me then they get a bandit kill +1 for killing me, so in other words there was no way Nosebleed was the killer? Or does it take a couple of murders before I get a bandit +1 score ?? PS Nosebleed, it was on the AU1 server at approx 9pm. Near Lopatino.

Yes !!!!, the AU1 server it was. It had been hacked about 3 hours earlier, insta kill everyone on the server but was fine up until the gun swaps or whatever happened?. There was no indication that my weaps had changed, I could even still fire my primary as normal its just when you went into your gear screen there was different loot there. Ive never seen a gold pistol, it looked cool :) When my nephew dropped the stuff on the ground, it seemed to keep spawning on him, I told him to keep dropping it but after the 3rd ghillie dropped I knew it had to be bad so we both logged off and called it a night. Glad someone else from AU1 is experiencing this as well.

Yep im sure the scripts or logs or whatever they use will support my claim of innocence but I guess the other thing is I do not want a saw or machine gun thingy. I was happy with my scoped m4 gun. I just hope its all a bad dream and when I log in tomorrow all will be fixed :)

Yep same here, all pistols seem to take an awful lot of shots to bring down zombies.... Lee enfields and shotguns still only need 1 shot confirmed. I must admit I am a little excited that the zombies got buffed. Its now making me nervous :)

Hmm I would suggest to go into your Steam Library, right click on ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache. This will identify and re-download any damaged or missing files.

Yes, you need Operation Arrowhead to play DayZ. EDIT: You need it installed. PPS: Can you copy it from a friend and simply it paste it?, I download once here and simply copy to other machines in house.

Hmm sounds like you havent run both ARMA2 games separately first to ensure the key is registered in registry. Fire up them both first and then try it with DayZ enabled. This should fix your problem.

Nope I have an nvidia card and I average around 80 fps, highers outdoors and lower indoors but around 80 fps. There are some optimisations you can do to ARMA though so make sure you google - arma2 optimisations. I have already made a post about this so you could just search for that as well. Hope this helps.

It started off as soon as I logged in. First thing I do is to look around to see if our beat up Hatchback is still there, it has been with us now for a couple of nights but alas its gone... so too is our stash of medical supplies and food in the boot. Oh well, was a good thing while it lasted. My brother and his son have just managed to get the game and I had already spent nearly an hour explaining the process of installation and game tweaks for FPS improvement so they were still spamming on the enter key waiting for a spot to open so they can come in. Now that I do not have a car its going to be a long walk to the coast, if only they had logged in yesterday when we had the car, sigh. My brother was the first to log in, I had been running already for about 15 minutes and he had already clocked up two deaths, one from a zombie and the other from a sniper in Electro, I chuckled to myself but let him play and die until I could get close to the coast. Harsh lessons but it will toughen him up :) I entered a barn, one of those barns with two internal stairs and immediately there was another survivor, he had come in the other door and was proceeding up the other stairs, I swung my gun at him and noticed immediately that he was unarmed, didnt even have a hatchet, there were two zombies climbing the stairs after him so I took out the zombies and tried speaking in direct chat that I was friendly however I would shoot if he produced a weapon. It was a bit intense, I am 3rd on the Leaderboard with several hundred zombie kills, 0 murders and 0 bandit kills but on my 4 day of survival so I was not about to take any chances. The guy just sat on the other ledge looking at me, he wasnt responding in chat both verbally or text and even after I explained to him how to toggle chat channels and talk I had no luck. Anyway he had not produced a weapon and I wasnt going to turn my back on him so I proceeded to leave the barn. Looking around I noticed he was following me, wasnt getting too close but was definitely following me, I tried again to raise him in chat but no luck. I had a sniper rifle in my backpack, I didnt want him getting to close to me and simply taking it out from my backpack and using it on me, that would be embarrasing. I had an idea, i asked him to salute if he could hear me, then I see him salute, phew omg we had communication. Anyway he kept following me, so I asked him if he had any weaps, he saluted to say no so I left a lee enfield with 2 x clips on the ground for him, the only instruction was that should he pick it up whilst i was still in sight I would shoot him dead. I started running away and he watched me go, he kept his word. After about 10 minutes I did notice someone behind me but they veered off as they got close, they didnt see me, i couldnt help but think was that the guy I had armed ? Ok back to my brother, he now had landed near Electro, I told him to follow the powerlines and I would meet him. Took about another 10 minutes and I caught up to him, he had a zombie in tow but he had an axe, i told him to keep running as they couldnt hurt you if you keep running. Then his son managed to login, I needed to stop running to plot a plan on getting to him so I needed to get this zombie off our ass. I told my bro to stop and i would kill the zombie, I turned around and took a shot at the zombie, then *whack* I was insta killed... wtf ... my bro had started whacking with his hatchet and it must have one shot me. FFFFUUUU there was a lot of expletives and he was very sorry. We confirmed it was him as he had a murder 1 now. Told him too loot my stuff, he couldnt get it all and I gave up trying to explain how to open backpacks over vent, I got lucky and spawned close enough that I could get back to my corpse which he had now mostly looted anyway. Ok skipping ahead, we managed to catch up to his son, my partner had already logged on and she was meeting us near the balota airfield, I figured there was now 4 of us and it would be good to gear them up, and myself now. Nearing the airfield there was a sniper there, unbeknownst to us he had already killed a couple of peeps and as I spotted him I called him out but he managed to kill me again, my bro with a lee enfield one shotted him and they looted him. Our adventure for the night was nearly over. We bid goodnight to all and they camped out in the woods while I was left alone to spawn and begin the process of collecting gear again. Ran into Electro, shot dead. Sigh.. that will teach me, there were corpses everywhere, its stupid now how people are killing onsight. Then the first hacker hit, we were summoned to a forest, I quickly ALT-F4d and escaped the carnage, I came back in and saw that I was now on the leaderboard with 30 kills, most had died in the firefight, server coming down (admins are quick on AU and ANZ which is good) so I swapped servers to a night time server so I could run and gear up unmolested. An hour later, bang, hacker hit, summoned everyone to the debug forest I think, I quickly exitted out again and survived but when I spawned in I was on the beach near Balota, thanks hackers !, I was now geared and near where the family had logged out.

Heya, this is definitely a video card/driver issue. (RAMDISK ? lol, havent heard ramdisk in decades). I would ensure that you have the latest video drivers for your card. The easy way to check and update your video drivers is through Steam. In the top right of your Steam toolbar, under 'Steam' is an option to check for latest drivers. Try that first. EDIT: Top Left, sorry.

Hmm did you make sure to run each ARMA2 game separately before trying to run Dayz (they need to be run at least once)?, you need to run them individually so they setup your key in the registry etc. THEN you can play Dayz.

Head to Cherno or Electro. You seem to attract them when you say 'friendly'. Then they kill you, rinse and repeat.

Hi Trevor, I have seen this problem here with one of the kids machines, its not all the time but intermittent. If you have Steam then I would suggest right clicking on ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead (within the Steam Library) and choosing to reinstall Battleeye, this only takes a moment to do and then try joining a server. It will then go through the process of updating your battleeye. This seems to fix this problem for me. Give it a try.

Hmm I dont think that actually works. I have been manually updating the @dayz\addons folder and also copying the beta .exe across each time. There have been some detailed threads already describing how to do this so please use the search function at the top and this should solve your problems.

umm does it do the same with your pistol zoomed in ?, if so then you need painkillers.
