Im not sure if the COD kiddies can take the full blame for this current state of the game. With the absence of an endgame or anything to do once geared up, then people are simply resorting to PVPing as a means to find something to do. I remember in the early days (when both the bandit counter and murders counter was very low) people were so more helpful. You would spawn and meet up with 'friendlies' and then try and find gear, the zombies were the enemy and you banded together to overcome them. It was actually enjoyable making new friends and playing the hero/saviour. This is now currently missing from the game. There is simply no comradry left and no sense of humanity at all. Humans naturally want to form small groups/communities to then work collaborately to survive, its what we do, its what we have done since we crawled out of caves. This is not a true simulation at all, in fact I think its a cover to conceal the limitations of the game to probably implement this effectively. Hmm we cannot enable this in game so perhaps we simply say its a true survival game !!, wrong. But anyway, nuff said on the matter. Dayz has now hit over 1 million players so they must be doing something right. I guess there is an allure or expectation of whats to come, will it change the game, will it make it better... ? However once this doesnt come to pass then people will simply move on, at the moment its the unknown that is keeping people like myself hanging around. Time is ticking though, competition is coming. The player base will be divided, this is inevitable, the hardcores and cod kids will remain here and the casual/team players out there will move to a game that supports that style more. There is nothing wrong with this from a players perspective, we are all different and if they can cater to our individuality then great !

Its happening all over the place, and No, its hackers doing it, not admins.

My friends and I were elated, we had raided the NE airfield and quite a few deer stands heading SW, got quite lucky with our loots and we were starting to look like some sort of special forces unit. I even managed to pick up a ghillie suit !!! Then our luck really changed for the better, a hacker hit the server and dropped everyone dead. Yep, no chance to ALT-F4 or abort out just simply dead, the whole server. IT GETS BETTER!!! ;), on our way back to try and get to our corpses to regather our gear the server rebooted !!!, wow how lucky were we ?!? Butt naked with no Gear and in the middle of nowhere. Wow how fortunes can change soooooo quickly. This game rocks !!!

Make sure that you have run both ARMA2 and ARMA2 Operation Arrowhead at least once, this will create a registry entry for the key and also submit it to the hive. On one of the kids machines this actually took about 15 minutes delay until the key was accepted. For now, just run these two games at least once and then try Dayz.

wow substitute, that really sucks man. Glad to see you hanging in there after that. I noticed some idiot said its 'alpha', was waiting for some fool to pop in and say that... its sort of like 'man, i have no response to that, what should I do, they are expecting me to say something, cmon what can i say, omg im drowning here, I know, ALPHA !' I know its freaking alpha, I know its a mod, I know we didnt actually pay for it but spend our hard earned cash on ARMA, you f*ckwits that keep spitting out this crap just dont understand, we dont give a f*ck. We are investing our time and effort into this game, testing it if you want to call it that, but at the moment its becoming completely unplayable. I am seeing at least 2 x hackers per night per server, I manage to avoid most unless they issue the 'kill all' command. I am nearly the last 'hardcore' of our group left, the others have left. Honestly I don't blame them. If developers are reading these forums then note the hate that is being generated and why its being generated, if you make a game like this and take the best from it then make sure you also drop the bad or address it.

Dayz is a deathmatch simulator. I too have learnt the hard way, simply kill everyone you see until the game is changed. Safer that way.

Medic down Part #2 ! Here goes with my running commentary. Last night was probably the worst night for us in some time, everything that could go wrong did ... Ok it started out with 4 of us, our band is shrinking fast and after our adventure our number dropped to 3 ... We loaded up the car and figured that we would do one last run south, the intent was to look for ATVs that bug out on the bridges, we patch them up, flip them over and drive them away. Its a good way of keeping our fleet going and has been working to date. Driving south, we came across our first ATV, it was already upright which was a first for us, so one of us jumped out of the minibus and climbed on the ATV, scored, our little convoy moved south. I stopped just outside of one of the cities to check my map and some cheeky bugger ran across the road and jumped in. We then continued south and our new passenger asked if we could pick up his friend, who was near balota, we agreed and found his friend after a few minutes, right after picking up his friend we also picked up another stranger that was being chased by zombies, he quickly jumped in as well. So now we have myself (driver), one of our team and 3 strangers in the car, one of our team on the quadbike which was following us. Getting away from the beach we proceeded north, the plan was to drop off our new friends at Zelengorsk's supermarket. Just after pavola we saw a survivor laying on the road, a zombie was eating him but it looked like he was still alive. We also saw that he had a gun (we normally do not pick up people with guns). We pulled up and one of our new friends jumped out and bandaged him while one of our team took out the zombie. We gave him morphine and he jumped into the car. Everything went well until we pulled up at Zelen, I stopped in the carpark adjacent to the supermarket and let them all out. Shit hit the fan, the guy we bandaged and saved cut loose with his gun, he managed to kill the other 2 new people in the carpark and hit our minibus really hard, I died again however our teammember jumped into the drivers seat and sped the bus out of town. Our quadbike had already gone ahead to the servo on the northside of town so was spared. I was dead... all the new people were dead and the bus was beat up bad, all windows were gone, engine and hull damaged badly. Ive had enough, as of now we will no longer be picking up or helping anyone else again for some time. I spawned, on my way back to see if my corpse was still there the server crashed... corpse gone. I got back on the server and rejoined the remaining 2 of our party and started to gear back up. Then a hacker hit the server, we were all summoned to the airport in the NW and a message came across the screen about 'welcome to the thunderdome' or some shit, we quickly aborted the game and changed servers. Now.. this caused us a problem, even though we were summoned to the airport and subsequently aborted, our vehicles were left unmanned along the road, we tried to get back on the server but this had then been taken down and took a long time to come back up again, we had changed servers in the meantime and proceeded to run back to where the vehicles were. We dropped into the supermarket at Vybor, 3 of us, when all of a sudden (not sure if it was a hacker or not) but loud music started being spammed in direct communication, then all 3 of us were killed. Our last remaining clanmember cautiously headed towards our building and then was one shotted as well. All members dead. Sigh.. Ok lets start walking back to get our corpses.. Oh shit.. server going down... all corpses lost.. Well. 1 member rage quitted, gone. Swearing and promising to not come back (the other 2 still havent come back either that rage quitted the night before). Honestly I dont blame them, between the senseless killings and hackers its making things a bit tough and you need to be hardcore to keep trying. Now there were 3, no gear, we had two vehicles somewhere north but we still had our tents albeit our supplies were really running low after so many deaths, regearing and dying again. By the time we reached the cars, 1 had to go to bed leaving the 2 of us, we got the minibus and quad and hid them then we took the minibus out to scavenge for parts at the factory near polana, the bus was in bad shape after the backstabber opened up on us at Zelen, driving through a town near Polana I did the unthinkable... I hit some rubbish :(, the bus was already hurt bad so it exploded, killed me instantly but my partner was thrown out and bleeding. She aborted real quick, called it a night and went to bed. Sigh.. started running back naked from Electro, found some stuff along the way and bang, server crashed... Changed servers and continue running back.. in the dark... no compass... Changed back to our server (it had come back up) and proceeded to the spot where we crashed and burned, now, this is probably the only time a crash or whatever actually benefitted us, the minibus was sitting there, intact ... my body was nowhere to be seen BUT THE BUS WAS THERE ! Got in, drove it to safety and camped. Team now numbers 3.

Thanks Firemac, yep, the good thing with the dwindling numbers is we wont have to worry about collecting vehicles, a couple of pushies will get us around :) hell if we get down to 2 members I can even double !

Actually its a bug. For some reason the tents keep refilling upon a server restart. Might be just happening to our group but its cross servers as well.

Easy fix to this is reboot between sessions, ie when you play Dayz and want your bro to have a go, you need to shutdown PC and fire it up under his steam and all will work fine.

Yep its still griefing, you got your gun and you got a ghillie suit, now get the fark out of dodge so other new people can do the same.

Why dont you go and hunt bandits, start with the hills around cherno/electro.

If you cannot 'vault' over barbwire you can still however remove it entirely if you have a toolbox, I know these can be hard to find but once you have one then you remove all the barbwire you come across. I do agree though, either make barbwire harder to find, or increase the drop rate of the toolboxs. As far as the zombies go, I have to disagree. I think they need to be made harder and more of them.
