RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

Seeing how extremely unforgiving this game is in the beginning, I predict a "few" new threads popping up during the next few days, if you know what I mean.

    Bear Traps

This game truly needs more things to spamm and more things to break our legs on. Ohh, and please install ED209's in every hospital, the campers shouldn't have to do all the work.
  3. Love it. Stuff like this makes me believe in karma. (You deserved it) Well I think Karma only keeps me from killing people at night. In 5 weeks I played I've had NVGs 3 times and my score is something like this: Murders without NVG: ~120 Murders with NVG: 2 I'll tell karma to step it up.

    Love it!

  6. Well I definitely agree with this part.

THE BEAR TRAPS ARE COMING! :O

This game truly needed more ways to break your legs. Seriously, just look at the barbwire spam. Who though this was a good idea? Looking forward to the moment where I step on a random trap placed in the woods by some griefer. Guess I have to crouchwalk constantly from now on just to be safe. Brilliant, just brilliant.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

    * [NEW] Set Bear Traps that break player and infected legs, kills animals, when activated Seriously? Another way to break your legs? Not to mention that forests will probably become a bloody minefield. Try spoting a beartrap in tall grass and see where that gets ya.
  9. Very good post. Thank you for taking your time to write this. And also: Well said.

OMG I see something a night

Ahh, that's too bad. I also loged onto a server today during nighttime and had the same experience with the full moon. I actually played on the server for a while, instead of instantly aborting.
  11. Edit: I wrote something here about possibly being in the wrong thread, due to the "anti PvP" part of the threads name, as I am not anti PvP at all. But then I checked the front page and figured it was the correct place after all, so ignore this post. My bad.
  12. Except for bandits where you backwards rationalize some logic for needing meta-gaming. Survivors cooperating in certain situations makes sense, while in the case of bandits it doesn't. It comes with the playstyle that follows the bandit "persona" or whatever you want to call it, and I am sure most bandits would appreciate keeping the current nature of the game among eachothers for the sake of immersion and character. It should also be one of the cons of being a bandit, considering how they mostly have everything to gain and nothing to lose, unlike survivors. This is why I kind of backwards rationalized, but I did explain the reason why meta-gaming among SURVIVORS, which would be most of us, doesn't make any sense, while for a bandit it's simply a part of the experience (at least to me. Feel free to disagree) Besides, the main issue here is how this affects the game as a whole.
  13. Easy with who you're calling a moron here, considering your post is nothing but a bunch of preconceptions. This is about how meta-gaming should not be required in a game, and no, unfortunately for you I am not one of those players. I have hardly died at all during my time with DayZ (fewer than most I would imagine)as I always make sure I am safe before I act. And I avoid other players like the plague, unless I just happen to bump into one, which is when I try to communicate while making sure they don't have a clear shot at me.
  14. Don't be ignorant. Having this implemented would not decrease the risk of moving around like a headless chicken, not to mention that often you can't even see if it's a bandit or survivor you're dealing with. I NEVER said that killing a fellow survivor should be impossible, but it should come with a price. I like the concept of having murderers around. I find it facinating that you keep defending the current bland nature of this game where socialising is deadlyer than snipers in ghillie suits. And also, how does encouraging situational teamplay DECREASE the skill required in this game? It's like you assume that if I had it my way, every survivor would have giant pink nametags for every other survivor to see, where you can run around without the slightest care in the world. No, There would still be killing everywhere, and also murdering. I just want SOME, just SOME encouragement for players to go into situations differently than they do now. In other words, I would like this games pvp to have atleast slight variation to it. Edit: about the occations where you find players actually playing the game like it's suposed to be played (the ones you mentioned), how often does this happen? have you SEEN it happen? I for one have not, and whenever I am within chats reach of a player I ALWAYS try to communicate, but pretty much every time they don't respond and start shooting at me just for the heck of it, as they have nothing to lose and would rather see me dead than to risk me being a backstaber. How is this fun or in any way immersive? I honestly do not think you get the point of this game.
  15. Hence my previous posts which explained these things. The game needs a way to see the difference between survivors and bandits so that we don't NEED meta-gaming for the very basics of social interaction, and you completely fail to see that we aren't just talking about longterm cooperation between players here, but situational ones as well. Some of us enjoy meeting NEW people in games (yes, other than your real life friends, believe it or not.) and not only on the forums, for reasons I have - as I said- already explained before. It should be a part of the survival experience, JUST LIKE THE PVP ASPECT WITH BANDITS IS A PART OF THE EXPERIENCE AS WELL :). Going through all of this every time you want some social contact would be ridiculous, and noone, I repeat noone would have the patience or interest to do all this over and over and over again for such a basic element in any game. It is a flawed system to say the least. Besides, most people get shot before they can even react. Really, how can you expect the survivors to go through all of that just to get in contact with a player with common interests? The bandits play a whole different role and as I said naturaly have different approaches to the social aspect of the game.
  16. I say this with complete certainty: your need for a simplistic deathmatch game matters little to everyone else. Having everyone wanting you dead gets boring real fast, and the solutions that I have mentioned will not make you value your life LESS. There will still be bandits on every hilltop, on every weapon spawn, ready to hunt you down and destroy you, and that's how it also should be (as I mentioned before, but maybe you skipped that part). Ohh that's funny, especialy concidering how the current deathmatch nature of the game doesn't at all resemble every other shooter that has ever existed. It offers zero variety. You want to be a wolf in sheeps clothing? Everyone are wolves right now so what on earth are you on about. Ok, let me rephrase myself: you are forced to become a mindless murderer. I think I have mentioned this twice: you should not have to contact someone on a forum to avoid shooting eachother on sight, it should be possible within the game. If you are talking about this actually happening randomly in-game, then yes, it CAN happen, but you need to be extremely naive to even dare getting in a situation involving another player right now. I've had someone say "friendly!", where he would just shoot me in the face the second I let him approach me. Laziness, huh? Amusing. I am sorry, but once again your arguments are mostly "no, do not want" or based on you simply ignoring facts just to get your point across (for example blaming this on "laziness" on my part)
