Even if I play with my music off or way down low these would be great additions for those who DO play with music on, really added to the mood of your gameplay - if I was playing lone wolf this would add so much more tension. +1

Unluckiest group ever - 3 people taken down in 5 sec

As much as I dislike PvP myself, it's very much part of the game. These players should have been more cautious, and should have expected a sniper to be watching them. If you're running round on top of a building and you aren't the sniper, likelihood is you're going to be put down. At least these guys will have learned from this experience and know what not to do in future. -
Random bodies scattered around the world and the stories they tell.

I suggested a similar idea in another thread earlier today - so would love to see something like this added to the game eventually! -
That was hilarious! MOAR!

How much are you suggesting it takes to put one down though? I'm hoping one shot, since one - if not more, if you suggest they could retain some social behavior among other infected dogs also - would be pretty terrifying because of how fast they'd be. I can imagine sneaking through a forest at night and hearing a blood curdling howl in the distance behind me, flicking my torch on over my shoulder and seeing their eyes reflected in the beam. Awesome. Since that's a picture of a doberman, it leads me to think they could specifically be guard dog type infected, so you could find them spawning in factory/industrial areas where they could have been used prior to the infection?

LOL, I was thinking of that meme. But yeah I think these ideas are good, more so for the cows/goats/sheep. But I think with the drinking urine thing we're going to start getting into a ''Piss/Shit System'' type thread..

Bears and wolves please, or even small groups of stray dogs. I'm sure stray dogs in a situation like this would be pretty quick to revert back to their more natural and primal instincts if they're hungry enough, so they'd be an added danger to the player. Well - assuming they aren't Pomeranians or anything.. I mean it would be pretty cool to find yourself being hunted by a pack of dogs, and pretty terrifying. They're going to run a lot faster than you can, too. ^^

I think this is very much needed, plus child zombies would be damn scary too. :D

This is awesome! xD

Let people choose where on the coast they want to spawn

I'm liking this idea. :) -
A small improvement that would bring big changes
Siri302 replied to Sexual Carrots's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not sure about that Cappy, me and my friend logged out in a forest outside the NW Airfield after raiding it and when he logged back in a few days later he re-spawned inside a bunker and was shot by another player while he was still loading into the game.. just a bug and bad luck I guess, but still.. this suggestion could possibly help you save yourself in situations such as that. -
Only if realistic boob physics comes included... and a back-pain meter too, depending on how much bigger you mean. Again - Just keeping it realistic guys.

I agree with DemonGroover, the less handouts we get at the start of the game, the better. :) Shockie I agree about the fists, we should be able to use them and I've said that before as well, seeing as if you WERE unarmed you would use your hands to push away something trying to bite your face off, punch it, heck - kick it. Flashlight melee - perhaps, seeing as in previous threads people have said there are issues with programming hand-to-hand use, or something along those lines since it isn't in the base game.. That being said, I still do not agree with spawning with a weapon. Stealth is my weapon, and I've managed to do fine so far.
-
^ What he said. Also - of course it is realistic. I'm talking about everyday life, I don't carry a weapon with me to school or to go shopping. If I went out normally with my friends and halfway through the day an infection of this type began I would not be armed, that's what I'm saying. So in this case who is to say (seeing as you spawn randomly on the coast) that your character has in any way prepared beforehand for a situation like this. It's more like waking up on the shore after you were washed up (maybe people on the mainland were evacuated, but some people carrying the infection got on-board - causing chaos and your rescue ship to go down... just trying to set the scene here. ) You'd wake up with no real recollection of how you got there or what is going on, and of course you wouldn't have been prepared for this to happen so now you need to do your best to survive and find stuff to help you do so. Not a lot of people ''expect the unexpected'' to THAT degree.

death screen song changed to "why cant we be friends"
Siri302 replied to serbian bro's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
LOL, please make this happen. :D -
Maybe we could have an option to chloroform unsuspecting players! :D ... saying that, perhaps my suggestion belongs in that 'sexual anxiety' thread... Anyhow! I think this could be a nice idea, hitting someone in the head with the butt of your gun, a good ole' pistol whip or bludgeon them with a crowbar. Any would do the trick. ^^
-
Sorry but I don't agree, as I've made a point of before, starting with nothing makes you realize the value of the items which you find and collect later on in the game. :-/ It's far more realistic this way. I don't carry an axe in my bag in real life... maybe I should, better safe than sorry..

Abandoned trucks, ambulances and military supply vehicles.
Siri302 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Awesome idea! :) Would really like to see a few more abandoned (not necessarily repairable) vehicles on the roads which spawned loot such as this, travelling inland the roads all seem pretty deserted and too clear .. Maybe you should also be able to pry open the boots of abandoned vehicles with crowbars to find more loot, perhaps with a chance of the car alarm going off, for added horde-attracting fun ^^ -
I'm loving these ideas! ^^ Hope this gets some more attention!
-
I had thought of this as a possibility too - so your idea has my full support! :)

How is it in any way the worst idea? You're cornered in an empty room with a pissed off, bloody mouthed, salavating cannible advancing towards you - and you're just going to put up your hands and let it chow down? HELL NO. Punching it in the face, providing a momentary knock back as Klazsh said, could give you just the amount of leverage you need to push past an infected and get out of the building you're stuck in. I think this could especially help when you find yourself stuck in the enterable buildings with only one entrance when your unarmed and a few infected have followed you inside, or when you've run out of ammo maybe you should be able to clobber them with your gun to get away. It may not put them down, but at least it would give you a chance to shake them off, right?

Really neat idea! Also think that maybe when shots are fired within a wooded area birds should fly up, but probably only if that area hasn't see a any shots fired for let's say 30 minutes to an hour. I don't mean from the whole forest, maybe 5-10 birds within a 20m radius around the player who fired the shot. Just think this added effect would allow you to work out realistically what direction the shot came from and whether you need to get the heck out of there. And if this happens when you're surveying a forest from outside the treeline you could pinpoint where it came from by seeing where the birds flew up. This would also make people think more carefully about their shots if they're using the cover of a forest, as there would be a chance of this happening to them. Though saying that, maybe it would have to be a kind of random event since players might just shoot one round every half hour just so they were sure this wouldn't happen to them when the time came to take a real shot.. suppose that would only apply to someone who was camping out an area though. ^^

zonfiar, You can use axes now - if you find them of course, I found mine in a barn, if that helps you the next time you are in a fix for a weapon. Of course you wont get any guarantee of one spawning in there, and you may even come across a gun instead. Then again, you may find a gun with no ammo - hence why the axe is a better find in my opinion. 2 swings usually does the trick, I hear only one blow to the head is sufficient but I ''double-tap'' just to be certain considering how buggy the zombies can be, plus it's a silent kill. I believe you can use crowbars and knives too? Not verified this myself, I see no reason why not if this isn't in the game yet, as my friend had a crowbar equipped but said he couldn't use it as a weapon.. About the blasting at the first thing you see - I never played the game with the starter weapon, I wouldn't know what it was like 'back then' but thinking about what it must of been like, whether it applies to you or not - people were probably more likely just to shoot something to get it out of the way, rather than walk around it because if they die, they knew they were just going to re-spawn with the same items. Therefore they had no real sense of loss. I avoid large settlements completely, even if there is far greater loot to be had there - I don't want to get mixed up in any bandit shenanigans or zombie hordes. Teaming up (with trust-worthy people, obviously) will bring you far more goods in much less time, as I have found, having been able to raid the North West airfield with a friend - no shots fired at us, and we didn't have to kill any infected either, and I only had my axe. People who are just spawn killing, whether you have a weapon or not are just a fact of the game, as they would probably be a fact of life - it's going to be unfair, and getting valuables is going to be due to luck in a lot of cases. Some people seem to think this has taken the fun out of the game, because you find yourself at such a disadvantage when you re-spawn, but I find it invigorating. You're given far more of a drive to search for things to keep you alive, spawning with a weapon means you can pretty much do what you like right off the bat, whereas with nothing you have a real sense of desperation. Sneaking round isn't so hard and after a few attempts at in-land barns I finally found an axe (like you said I had also collected countless amounts of ammo but had found no guns). But if I, and so many others can survive without a starter weapon and still enjoy the ups and downs, then I don't see what is stopping you from doing so too? Yes it can feel like a huge waste of time, exploring a whole town looking for a weapon and all the trouble you go to yields little or nothing - whether it is down to crappy spawns or the fact another player has already been through and looted everything. It's disheartening. But you just have to think ''ok I'll try the next place''. I think this is one of the factors that makes this game great. It goes against conventional ideas of what games should be like, it doesn't give you any easy handouts. Hell, I think it's very gracious to spawn us with a bandage and a flashlight, I mean I don't carry either of those things off-hand in reality. I totally get what you're saying that you feel too much at a disadvantage without anything to defend yourself with, probably more so from other players it seems these days, without hand-to-hand being an option, but I really don't think new players should spawn with a weapon of any kind. Perhaps more blunt weapons need to be added to the game - I'm sure adding ''branches'' could be a feasible idea, you could just find those laying in relative abundance on a forest floor, right? When I spawned for the first time, there was a wooded area right across from me if I remember correctly - this could be a suitably realistic and easy way to arm yourself with a basic weapon which could take out the odd zombies, so long as you attract no hordes by being reckless. Since the forest was the first place I headed to get out of the open of the coast anyway, new players with any sense could easily stumble upon a branch, or those looking for them would be able to find them quickly after a re-spawn. Not sure if a branch would be a durable option though.. Hey Thywolf, I hear tin cans can be used to distract the infected too! .. never actually tried that theory out.. But maybe just going for a direct head-shot with them would be a better use ;) I mean you should be able to bottle zombies over the head with the whiskey bottles I've found laying round too. I know it could only be a one-shot chance really ... but that is still a chance! ..damn I write a lot..

While I like the fact that the starter gun has been taken away.. it actually convinced me to buy the game, loving the helpless feeling it added when I started playing, I had to learn to survive - and quickly. The implementation of this teaches players tactics and the value of equipment. That avoiding contact is far better than walking into town and blasting away at the first thing you see. My first day playing consisted mostly of just running away and creeping round buildings to find some form of nourishment. Eventually (nearing the end of the first day mark) I found an axe. I felt this inexplicable glee that at last I could defend myself and not just run away anymore, got myself an M16 now. ^^ The changes don't make this game impossible at all, all you need to do is adapt your ways of surviving and learn from your mistakes, I'll never forget how I ran blindly into a building looking for a gun during the first half hour only to be chased out by a small horde. You say you want an accurate and realistic simulation. Well, not every building you enter WOULD have weapons or any kind of useful supplies, its a risk you have to take. Don't get disheartened because you can get what you want - accept that the reality of the situation DayZ puts you in. But what you said, zonfiar, about being able to use fists I totally agree with. I get that it could be difficult to add. But come on, no ones going to stand there and get taken down if they get cornered with no weapon, of course they're going to punch and kick the hell out of those zombies. Or at least, I know I would. Heck, if there was a chair in that room I think I'd do some damage brandishing it. If not, I'd unleash hell throwing random household objects, just for a chance to live a little longer - but I guess that might be out of the question.. :P All I can say is that it isn't the game you should be suggesting that changes, you need to change. Be persistent and patient, you'll reap the rewards eventually. :)
