You guys really believe what you are saying...?
-
Those are exceptions, you must count the average majority who are just able to aim and pull the trigger. The example above isn't good imo since Jerry Miculek and his colleagues are professional shooters with specialized guns who train 24/7. You can't call something accurate if you can't repeat it as often as you want to. Hitting 5 shots out of 10 isn't accurate but it shows the weapon system is capable of delivering the power downrange, hitting is another matter and has a lot of factors like f.e. wind, the condition and quality of the weapon used and the skill of the shooter to name a few. In the end the capabilities of a cartridge are just numbers and are worth nothing without a good shooter behind the gun.

Here's something nice, too bad he didn't try a .22 LR round. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot16.htm It also depends on the type of vest used. i'm pretty sure a good jacketed .22LR that travels over 1400ft/s will penetrate a lvl 1 vest at "combat ranges" ( maybe up to 50m but not over 100m ) and multiple shots will leave a couple of "dents" in the wearer. Kevlar or body armor in general isn't a magical armor that nullifies the effects of a bullet impact.
-
Good idea this way a fortified "home" makes sense. Unless of course players try to glitch through walls.
-
But they really have to rework the system a bit...holding down a button instead of going up/down is stupid ( unless i missed a control setting )
-
I thought they used the ArmA 3 stance system??? And if someone sat down i'd just keep shooting until i'm sure he couldn't have survived that.
-
As i said, they didn't turn when they were alive because they are immune to the virus. In most cases your body is gone anyway. We often burried those solo KoSers, just taking the essentials like food, ammo and valuable equipment, they DCed when they died most of the time anyway. Running in a group by chance and ending the shootout in a stalemate with casualties on both sides is worse since it's also difficult to get your stuff back because nobody wants to back off.
-
Dead players stay dead once killed since their body is immune to the virus which doesn't reanimate the dead like it does in other zombie flicks but makes the living go crazy and attack survivors more like in World War Z. The penalty is kind of a good thing since it gives death weight and value to ones life by putting a players gear out of reach for a while. Since stupid and stubborn people only learn by pain this would be one solution to counter the death matching situation , YOLO and "it's only a game" mentality.

If that GPU is off or not even on board makes it even better. Here's my test with a 3yo PC ( newest addition was a GTX770 in february and a new SSD over a year ago because the series was faulty, but otherwise the system as whole is as it was bought back then ) Test Just showing what kind of weaker hardware a gaming laptop has even with state of the art hardware, i have spent the same amount of money you did btw. Of course there are benefits like less energy consumption, better structure ( nm ) etc. But in the end what goes in comes out powerwise. A workmate said himself..getting a laptop is compromising. Someone with a newer gaming PC ( less that 1yo ) could post his results for comparison.

Where did that soldier go who was shot in the chest with a SVD...it left him with one or more broken ribs, lacerations and the force of the impact threw him to the ground although the plate saved his life.
-
FPS Russia shot 5 buckshot into an older police vest at 20? yards. The vest was inside the chest of the dummy showing how much force was behind it. Even one shot could have killed the wearer just by the force of the impact, imagine you have 9*.30 pellets traveling at high speed towards you...quite a burst.

I think that's what most users set up the game with systems similar to yours. GeForce experience does nothing more. Well the guy in the youtube video basicall turned off everything that makes the game look better to increase fps, are your settings comparable to his. What else did you expect turning off details increasing both fps and quality? You get what you set/buy/or whatever. I wonder why the game ran better before the GPU might be good but it still is a "M", the CPU speed is pretty minimal as you said the fact that it is one of the newest generation CPUs doesn't change that. If i reduce the speed of my i7 2600K from 3.5 to 2.4 GHz it would be the same and i also have a GTX770 but not a weaker laptop version. You shouldn't rely on benchmarks alone. I mean there must be a gap between a dedicated gaming rig and a laptop even if the hardware series 770 vs 770M are "the same" on first glance. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-770M-vs-GeForce-GTX-770 you can't ignore a 30% difference in performance. http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/284/Intel_Core_i7_Mobile_i7-4700HQ_vs_Intel_Core_i7_i7-2600K.html Comparison between our CPUs. Just saw that you have an on board GPU? Might want to check if that hasn't been turned on by accident...would be great if that was the problem solver. If not would you mind running 3D Mark 11 Demo and share your results?

Is DayZ Epoch different on each server and what about difficulty?
enforcer1975 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is a handful in the EU depending on what you want to play. Epoch vanilla or Epoch Napf some servers without safezones but with slight engagement rules considering shops. Just filter hardcore ( either by name or by filtering third person and all the otherr settings ) and epoch in DayZ commander. -
Chernarus has fairies who visit every now and then to put ARs, magpul parts and a ton of other murican weapons into ex russian houses...

Is DayZ Epoch different on each server and what about difficulty?
enforcer1975 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Epoch is what most people call easy mode since almost every server is focused on pvp and base building...giving you easy loot, extra loot, good starting gear, 1000+ vehicles, side missions and safezones <_< etc. to attract more players, actually the wrong type of player for what DayZ is supposed to be, they are more or less playing wasteland with zombies. I've seen a few players beeing relieved to find that there are also ( very very very ) few admins who want to make Epoch a good and hard experience similar to vanilla just with the features added from Epoch like building and things people expect to find in a survival environment. -
Improvised Shotgun Ammunition + Magnum Loads
enforcer1975 replied to Draco122's topic in Suggestions
Easy to craft IRL perhaps...coding different things like cutshells, hand loaded shells or wax slugs on the other hand isn't done in seconds and can cost a ton of money depending on what you want it to do...i think they should really finish the survival aspect of the game first before adding even more weapons and ammunition types. -
...laptop....Have you tried GeForce Experience? In case they have a profile that is similar to your system i would try that first. If that doesn't work it might really be a problem with either the patch or the game having a conflict with Windows 8.1 ( sometimes having the newest OS isn't always good ). I haven't been watching the development of 8.1 since i'm satisfied with Win 7 64bit so i can't tell if it's any good for gamers.
-
Ballistics and terminal ballistics are quite a science since if you change one factor by a tiny fraction you get a totally different result IRL. And you can't count in those factors in a video game since you don't usually give items properties like the basic .22LR and 5.56x45mm vs. wooden fence => 5.56x45 penetrates. It barely possible to calculate the resistance of the contents of a backpack since it always varies and you also have to take the current velocity of the bullet into account. Just as an example saying 7.62x39 does the same amount of damage at 300m as a .357 at 25m isn't enough. While IRL values are all over the place with the same conditions you can only have fixed values you can work with in a game. I doubt someone wants to add a formula to the game that calculates damage every time something is hit...could take a while.

That guy should be playing and not standing out there or is he already training for the shtf scenario?
-
You just need to wrap that up in one word...Alpha..most people won't bother to read a wall of text anyway especially when the poster is right. Shots should be more difficult the further the target is especially if it is moving, i hope they add wind influence sooner than later then KoSing from afar would be greatly reduced or at least less successful. I've seen enough players missing 300m shots with standard issue rifles in ACE or at least get close enough with a 800m shot from a scoped rifle to call it a near miss. I helped a player with a .50 who tried to sniper targets between 900-1000m by pinning them down with a scoped M240 or is that a M240 sniper and made 12 out of 12 with the same rifle at 1500m another day simply by beeing patient... But gefore they even think of tweaking or adding more guns they should add some stuff you actually need in a survival situation such as tents, sleeping bags, camping tools or something like that. Atm it looks more like a weapon showcase with new guns arriving at each patch instead of stuff that belong to the survival part.
-
Playing the game is a no win situation...you will never survive. So you'd have to commit suicide with the first weapon you get or jump off a high place right away. ( repeatedly is necessary )
-
All been addressed already...if i were Dean and said i wanted to make a surival game i would have had the team finish the survival aspect first before detailing the majority of the weapons. I'm a bit pessimistic about them beeing able to add the planned features in the near future. Throwing in goodies ( the new weapons f.e. ) was kind of a distraction tactic imo.
-
If you reduce the details too much it will backfire. What parameters did you use? How many scripts does the server run? You should at least be in the 40fps range with your rig. Never had problems with my i7 2600K with a GTX580 when i played it. Maybe it's the server slowing you down, how many players are online? How far is the view distance? The higher the view distance the more data has to be sent between clients and server > more traffic + scripts = low server fps = low client fps.

They need to bring back the zombie kill scoreboard and time survived message
enforcer1975 replied to pjano's topic in Suggestions
The second debug monitor made me go WTF?!?!? FPS info might be valid but GPS coordinates? How easy do you want to have it? Next comes let us freely teleport between Balota/Cherno/Elektro/NWAF/Berezino/NEAF of course with a safety feature that doesn't let you teleport there in case palyers are present...? And the game isn't really about statistics like your everyday shooter imo. -
Fog can be quite fun...had fog for hours while playing wasteland...didn't even see 10m ahead and was flying all the time lol.
