    People throw out so much money for pc stuff that is not even useful, this is a very useful tool if you are into simulations/immersion.

    PVE

    The zeds and the open world are the only thing making DayZ different...actually only the mix because we already have zeds in other games and the open world is nothing new except maybe for the size. Otherwise the current DayZ or what players think DayZ is is far from what is was, not by content but by how it's played. The only thing players care about is getting the best gear asap and go killing, most interactions are reduced to pulling the trigger. Nothing really different from CoD or BF.

    Machete

    That machete was either blunt as hell or you should have stopped hitting he guy with the broad side :huh: Maybe it's thanks to the difference in hitpoints between players and zeds if they still have it that way? How is the range of the machete compared to a hatchet btw.?

    Yes let's add Dodge Rams and whatnot from the states because it's fictional and we already have a ton of ARs. Because it's fictional doesn't mean you can keep adding every stupid thing. Things that make sense...ABSOLUTELY!!!

    Getting started

    This game is not for the weak willed that's for sure. Epoch, Takistan are mods of the mod running on said maps. Chernarus ( vanilla ) doesn't have that many enterable buildings, Takistan on the other hand has a lot of enterable buildings. The other mods basically use the same models from vanilla ArmA so they are just the same. Sahrani 1.0 has it's own models that look like the old ones but everything is enterable but not many people play it afaik, it never got popular. If you are into Wasteland DayZ warfare with tanks and attack helicopters some Epoch servers might suit your needs. If you want survival keep playing vanilla DayZ unless someone might throw in a mod that is more focused on surviving in the environment and not pvp.

    Suggestion: Map

    Forcing isn't always good but sometimes you have to but how should unlocking map areas work? What if a long time player decides to go bambi hunting on the coast? Where can those players excape to? And you are not forced to use the browser map, if you don't like it don't use it. It's a crutch people use as an excuse because they are too lazy to learn the layout. It's not that hard...how many people have actually studied a map of their RL place but still know where to go? Those places are much bigger than in-game.

    Suggestion: Map

    1hr is enough to memorize the layout of the map and whee the major spots are. 9hrs is experiencing the map and converting 2D data into 3D data. If that is not enough time to memorize the key positions in such a small map... Some people already get lost when they have to go across the street...don't expect everyone to have a good sense of direction. In fact i'm playing with a couple of players who still get lost even with a GPS on...one wanted to drive from Zelenogorsk to Berezino and ended up in Lopatino...then got lost again while driving along Stary road to the east and ended up in Elektro but eventually found the spot he wanted to go. If he would have gotten lost on the coastal road northwards after that i would have lost all hope.

    Water

    Good idea and it will last longer...the cardboard/paper/leaf thing came into mind if you were where "no man has gone before" and needed something to get water inside a bottleneck pretty much out of stuff you carry around or can find in thr brush.

    Console Gaming

    I highly doubt the SA will come out on consoles anytime soonner or later and if actually gets released the hype will already be gone since it will take a while unless BIS wants to make themselves a name for half-assed games. Doesn't matter what rocket says...you can easily say the wrong thing in his position if you are hyped up about your own game.

Wouldn't be sure about that, the mod can take so long and disappoint potential players by either lack of the right content or quality ( since all mods share the same content, even vanilla it's all the same quality and some modders deliver quality work beyond what BIS does imo ). There are Wasteland Epoch servers where you don't wake up with a sore ass because you have a M240 sticking out of it...Epic loot servers can be in any mod.

    Craft a funnel out of big leafs or something similar, it can also be a piece of cardboard/paper ( one way thought ).

    New weapons + scopes

    Less than 10% of RL sniper work involves shooting...pretty boring life for your average bunny hopping CoD/BF player...and they usually don't go to the corpse and check the kill. I was "the bush" in clan wars...i had the least kills if i had any and my barrel was always rusty on the inside after the games...

    Afaik not only there...imo the round is too weak at maximum engagement distances of those weapon systems compared to it's RL counterpart...happened to me most of the time even with a SVD from a lot closer range back in my jumpy days in old vanilla ( the second shot should have dropped the guy but he was still running around bleeding all over the place ). Could have been a bandit with "armor effect" though, i remember shooting one of my team in the back because he didn't tell his position correctly and he stood up after going down after getting hit by the SVD. Got hit by a CZ550 the other day wearing camo clothing ( as a plain survivor ) from less than 25m, went down with 3k blood loss, crawled behind cover got hit in the leg from under the vehicle ( which broke it ) with minor damage. The CZ is weird anyway, weapon caliber and bullet caliber don't seem to match.

    Getting started

    Zombies will respawn every time a player gets close to a town/bulding no "cleaning out a town" here. Whether or not you join a server with players or not doesn't really make a difference, weapons are harder to find in vanilla so KoSing is limited and zeds are dangerous. The danger to a freshspawn are zeds, try to get a machete, hatchet or crowbar preferably the hatchet since it has more reach than the rest imo. You can go sneaky while looting or try to attract every zed close by and hack them when they follow you into a building ( just be sure to have a melee weapon!! ) Dont get surrounded and hit, gaining health is more difficult without self bloodbag and getting wounded can get you into serious trouble ( sepsis, bleeding, pain ).
  18. Did anyone catch a glimpse of "your driver has been reset" or something in the lower right corner because this is typically a GPU/driver issue and/or an engine problem. I had one case of black screen and game running in the background without reset warning in the corner. If i have and this is really rare ( rarer as bullets in DayZ ) i always have the pop-up in said corner.

    Machine gunners do carry packs... You have to have a "limit" of what weight one person can carry. You would never be able to walk around with 200kg of stuff in your backpack ( if the backpack can actually hold that weight ). 100kg is a lot and 50kg already makes you into a slow packmule. Speed and stamina ( how far and how long you can go and how fast, how many breaks do you need and how much energy do you consume ) should be factors if you want weight to have an impact.

    If LMGs were that accurate why bother grabbing two men, training them how to do precision shooting with a matchgrade bolt action or semi auto rifle instead of putting them behind a machine gun? I think you are confusing the role of those weapon systems.

    Machine gun and accuracy are two terms that bite eachother...machine guns are not meant to deliver sniper precision fire. Before bipods were standard issue snipers used backpacks as a rest for their rifles therefor saying a bipod is essential for precision fire is "inaccurate".

    First of all if i want to go to war a LMG is the way to go. If i'm in a survival situation and it's either a 10kg machine gun or 10kg worth of chow and a survival rifle i'd go with latter.
  24. That problem cam with the fov setting...isntead of giving people a window of let's say standard is 75° up to 110°. It might look crokked but if people want to play through a fishglas why not? Nobody would go below 75° unless for abusing the fov setting as a sniper zoom anyway.
  25. How about removing ADS zoom, having fov only be changable in the menu and BIS adding realistic crosshairs. They fucked up the ACOG zoom in vanilla already i doubt they will get changed anytime soon later.
