What annoyed a mate and me was that we had EVERYTHING except matches....can you imagine having no canned food, enough to drink, tons of weapons and ammo ( i would have gladly thrown that away if i got matches for it, i just carried the stuff around and hid it or "bugged" it away so people wouldn't pvp too much on the server ) but you starve because you can't cook your food...we searched every store in Chernarus.

Readjustment of Spawn Points?
enforcer1975 replied to TheRaptorFence's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
My opinion would be to let the players start as far away from the good loot spawns as possible and having to work their way to them if they want good gear. And no DayZ isn't your Medal of Battleduty PvP game. You won't find time for this kind of playstyle anyway if the SA comes as promised. A survival experience and not a pvp action experience. -
Wait...Chuck Norris uses vehicles? I though he teleports...
-
Well you shouldn't be infected by zombies...that's why the character survived inthe first place... But complaining about anything else? Did you expect DayZ to be developed into you average jump and run action shooter? If yes you have chosen the wrong game...it will only become worse for your kind if you confuse DayZ with any other shoot everyone in sight game.

1km is a bit meager, but still enough to yell "I'm friendly!" to another player with a scoped rifle before he shoots you anyway.

Pic: How a medic / health status window or tab could look like in the SA

You can hear stomach growling pretty well, not from 50m but from quite close it's possible. For thirst how about coughing because your throat becomes too dry? -
Did they say something about the radio having a range? Chernarus beeing all hill and stuff should be blocking a lot of comms if you are not on the right spot and of course the average portable radio doesn't have 10km range. ACRE has this neat feature. I had to relay messages once in a game when i was just between two player groups on a hill and i intercepted their transmissions trying to reach eachother, it was quite fun.

Impossible..most PKers don't even try to identify their target before they shoot, they just shoot indiscriminately. And identifying someone through a scope ( in most cases you don't see enough details in the game anyway ) is nearly impossible. A medic surrounded by players would be good bait for KoS players since everyone will let their guard down. It's always been like that, present a target to players who think of a game as kil everyone on sight game will not let the opportunity slip.

Trust me there are enough idiots who would do that even if that would be their last ration. If food spoils that's no problem anyway since nobody would think of eating it anyway.

Wait....why did you take of his pants...? While identifying injuries through visible clues is easy i doubt anyone expect highly trained specialists could find out if someone has cholera. A lot of diseases need tests just to be sure, a layman could easily mistake them for something else. A cough could be anything from a simple cold to something more serious. -
Every vehicle has features only modders brought into play so far, that's why. It's not like they can't do it, claiming to give the player a realistic experience. So far the vehicles ( still impressive in their state ) are just like in any other shooter.

I wonder why the first though people have is to contaminate food and water to grief others. In the end they have to use it, too and hopefully forgot that they just shat where they are eating then. Only way to make people think twice is to connect all water sources of every server, as soon as someone poisons it he can't just go to another server and be "safe", it's "one world" so it should affect everybody. If the servers could handle 1000 players 999 wouldn't even think of doing that.

Knowing BIS i am pretty sure a lot is just for cosmetics, at least until enough cry that thay want function, too.

It would be difficult to draw players from games where they already settled in and that already have a huge fanbase and if also they are from a different genre. Those people will likely stay there and they would play DayZ casually. I'm more concerned about the players who come from the same genre ( namely shooters ) who think they could expand their horizon and bring the same mentality to DayZ. Hopefully it will be really tough that it will sort the wheat from the chaff.
-
I hope they don't. Word of mouth is enough. With commercial you could attract the wrong kind of players ( the ones that mistake DayZ for a DM )
-
I hope so...

1. They are not zombies, they are only infected. 2. They are not zombies, they are only infected. 3. They are not zombies, they are only infected. 4. They are not zombies, they are only infected. You are immune to the virus. 5. They are not zombies, they are only infected. They are strong as hell to the degree that they should snap their own bones because they can't judge their strength. 6. Already done for the SA afaik.

Suggestion for standalone splash screen/ lobby guide.
enforcer1975 replied to Walking Wounded's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Tip #1: Stay far away from towns if you have a scoped rifle. Shoot anyone on sight but only beyond 1000m so they can't spot you. You don't need to go and loot the body anyway since weapons and food spawn by the thousand. -
How to stop kill on sight mentality.
enforcer1975 replied to stollpatrol's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What most players ( also PVPers, DMers ) won't admit. You'd be scared as hell if you had to do things alone and couldn't rely on anyone even if it's just the presence of another person to feel comfortable. That's also a reason why sniper teams are always a pair... A comfort value would be great, if you feel safe you recuperate faster, won't even apply to groups only. You can also feel safe alone if you are in your hideout f.e. or stay away from contacts for a while to "get the adrenaline down". Since most PVPers or actually want on murderers work alone it wouldn't be such a bad limitation since they don't live long enough in most cases. -
Animation system sucks...looks like the animation system can't handle complex lower and upper body movement at once.

Requested Post for SA Damage model Suggestion.
enforcer1975 replied to mick17's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Roy Benavidez I know over another guy who topped his wound count...read something about a couple of bullet wounds and over 200 penetrations from multiple grenades, losing 60% of his blood etc... Another guy crawled a couple of miles to a highway after beeing shot in the head 2 or 3 times with a .357 if i remember right. There are exceptions but most people would really drop when hit in the vitals. It's difficult to actually impossible to simulate such a komplex system if you don't have a supercomputer even if the game supports it. You could add small hit zones for vitals and execute the effects when they are hit, otherweise you would have to rely on hitpoints or similar stuff. -
I'm pretty sure they will allow squad xmls however i don't know what such a thing has lost in a non military game...I doubt survivors will build camps and raise their "clanflag" to show off...? It made sense in clanwars so you knew who you were dealing with ( like spotting a tag on a vehicle an ID a player of you squad if you forgot who was in there or if it was actually still in your possession ) Maybe we could add bedsheets and towels with the clan logo? Gang signs would be interesting but it's not like every group is a typical "gang".

Softcore and Hardcore servers for Dayz Satandalone
enforcer1975 replied to v3c1c's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Unfortunatly i came into the game quite late but i still got to know how it was not to shoot anyone you encounter no matter what. The majority of our group turned to pvp since they were bored and whined each time they lost their gear. A small group including me still went the survival path until the pvp got out of hand. I hope the difficulty of the SA will keep most of the pvpers away. -
Cannibalism and drinking your own urine
enforcer1975 replied to Maarduuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urophagia Is that still in practice today? Numerous survival instructors and guides,[3][4][5][6][7][8] including the US Army Field Manual FM 21-76 "Survival",[9] advise against drinking urine for survival. These guides explain that drinking urine tends to worsen, rather than relieve dehydration due to the salts in it, and that urine should not be consumed in a survival situation, even when there is no other fluid available. However, in some instances drinking urine has been documented to save lives. Aron Ralston used the technique when trapped for several days with his arm under a boulder.[10] In 1815, several crew members of the American ship Commerce, including Captain James Riley survived a shipwreck off the coast of Africa by drinking their own urine. [11] Les Stroud on Survivorman advised against drinking urine, instead producing fresh water from urine using a solar still.
