You can easily change that by using sound mods...but of course you have to force the creator to allow them...there are some good mods that are not "hollywoodish".

The older the OS got the less fps i had in ArmA 1. The same applies to ArmA 2. The game ran best when i made a fresh OS install.

That's about the specs of my older PC. It should run on low just fine, or not. It's mostly an ArmA problem. Even ppl with better rigs had problems like you. Defrag your HDD, you need as much data transfer speed as possible to remove texture lag, that's what causes the most felt fps lag, if you can you should try a SSD. I assume your i-net connection is ok? Drivers up to date?

Laptops tend to overheat due to their size and heat management sooner or more often that a desktop pc. Either your room is warm or if you don't have one try the table fan. My buddy's laptop always almost overheated when we played CoH until he started using a table fan but even then it can barely manage the heat buildup.

BF veteran status equals zero in ArmA. There is a difference in 200m action sniping in BF and 600m+ sniping in ArmA 2. Looks like your friends are hackers if they can give you anything you are asking. You should priorize what you want, a weapon wielding weirdo who dies of starvation every day or someone who balances weapons and food. There is no need for more than two primary weapons, actually you should only need one if you are in a group.

Not true, if you gather the right people you can still form groups and fight eachother, there would still be enough individual players, no server hopping, enforced rules like no ALT-F4, glitching, hacking, ghosting because they wouldn't be able to unless they want to play elsewhere. Community hosted servers wouldn't be there for nothing.

That happens when western boys want to play a eastern bloc themed game. They don't want to lose their beloved equipment :D

It's part of the tent...remove alle tents. Remove all the trees, grass and hills, make the map a desert...

You forget one thing....admins turn their servers off because of the current chaoting situation? No use in buying a car if you are only allowed to use the passenger seat...

It's quite boring to know where they spawn, if they were that random why did someone bother to create a loot map for helicrashes? You just have to be lucky enough to have one there if you show up. I hope Rocket changes the spawn system to a more random setting. We always found three heli crashes btw.

I don't know if i should take you serious but i will enlighten you a bit. If you ever played anything else than DayZ you would know that ALT-F4 was already a problem in "life stlye gameplay communities" even before ArmA 2. The commmunities that were affected could only deal with it because they were small and had community hosted servers, not by individuals. This way you could easily see who did what and who did wrong. ALT-F4 ( in this case to resist arrest ) was punished with temp or perma bans if repeated, so were other playstyles that involved griefing, glitching or similar. It took the admins some time to get a better rule set to pick out destructive players but then the community becamse better this way and everyone enjoyed playing. We even made the game designer built a safety into the mission if you wanted to glitch out of jail but your time wasn't up yet you went in again after reconnect. So in the end i am saying ALT-F4 is no playstyle, it a windows feature that allows you to end an application and was never intended to be used that way. If people like you keep playing this way ALT-F4 will be removed and you will have to crtl-alt-del you application but then you would already be dead. Or you won't have a server to go to anymore because you are banned. Now ALT-F4 your PC and get out of the internet and stay there.

We are iving in the age of VOIP. If you havy the money to get a decent rig then you should have the extra 5 bucks to get a mic. Especially for a game where interaction via voice is desired/forced.

That's also true in most cases, at least from my viewpoint. But sharing a language can defuse some situations like we had when we met a survivor who spoke our language. Part of the group wanted him to tag along but keep a couple of eyes on him to be sure. The others didn't want him in because he asked to many questions so in the end we went seperate ways and he and our group found a helicrash. We went there to to see how he got eaten by Zs because he was there first and agroed every single one. We rescued him only to be shot at by our rescued person after he woke up...bang he died. In the end the language didn't really matter because the player was an asshole pk.

1,5km shots are great but in gaming reality you rarely encounter a player standing still long enough to take such a shot as the bullet will travel about 3 seconds or maybe more. And you will only have this one chance unless the player is very stupid.

You can find much more DMR mags than FAL mags but i'd also prefer the FAL because i have the feeling it is not that "loud" to Z than the M14/DMR. Also the M14 feels kind of sluggish to wield.

The answer is already in the question. btw they are not bandits...99% of them claiming to be a bandit have some mental illness or need the satisfaction of a kill because they are nobody IRL. Yes, i also go on a player hunt too once in a while.

You won't be banned for cheating them in but if you know you are playing with dangerous stuff i would dump it in the next Z i killed and made it disappear. A server admin might take your for a hacker and ban you regardless.

Why don't we have Rocket introduce the DC and marvel heroes? We wouldn't even need rifles anymore just our powers. That could even make scripting nukes and laser eyes legit. jk
