    Gunsmithing?

    Except for the first you would need a lot of insider knowledge to do the rest. Seconds is needs great knowledge in gunworks. Third is usefull if you knew how to do it, just filling the shell with propellant, change the primer and put the projectile on top won't do. You could destroy your gun and how would the game know if you know how to recharge ammo? Not really something for mass production. Armor piercing bullets against who? ....again some pvp thoughts. Fourth is often done by hunters, also not really something for mass production.

    Progressive controls

    Vehicles: Use Joystick or gamepad and switch to analogue throttle for progressive collective up/down and thrust. Trying to fly a helo or plane with keyboard/mouse isn't really precise in the long run. I've seen a lot of players flip their helos and lose control because they have pressed certain buttons too long and when using auto hover it looks awkward and crude. Character: Would be great but it would make it a lot more complicated, but beeing able to use more than just stand, crouch and prone would be ok, wouldn't it?

    You could describe the typical "bandit" as a person running amok because 98.9% don't kill for the belongings of their victim.

    Just make life hard enoug so they have to spend 90% of their time looking for supplies to survive to the next day. IRL if you had these problems you wouldn't go out looking for a firefight...hell you wouldn't even look for one if you had tons of supplies, weapons and ammo in order not to risk it... I don't care if we lose players in the standalone whose only purpose in a game that gives them a lot of freedom besides killing is killing for the lulz and killing for the grief... I'd like to go to a make shift town and not get shot at the moment the inhabitants see me, i'd like players to thank me when i kill zombies when they can't defend themselves and not recieve an axe to the back when i turn around, i'd like other players just pass eachother or talk to eachother when crossing paths...i'd like those who don't understand that the game is more than killing do go away and play another game. I hope the standalone isn't just warm words.

    And with that comment he invited players playing the game like nobody would ever have the idea to....either cheating the hell out of it without limitations because the rules are vague at least ( but has been ignored my the majority of server admins when they took control of their servers back ) or just playing for the kills which ist part of the game but not the main part of the game. Every game needs boundaries or it will end in chaos.

    Unless the amount of females in the forums isn't above a certain number ( most females hide their gender therefor no numbers ) camo clothing for females will not be mass produced for DayZ... ;) :P

    How could DayZ fail?

    If you understood that a computer has a lot more to do when running ArmA 2 compared to CoD or BF3 that have amazing graphics for their time period you would understand that your demand is not valid. While the shooters have their little isolation combat zones as large as electro which of course appear vast due to tricks within the game ( altered view distance, projectiles fly lower than IRL ) you have a whole island which has to be rendered, AI to calculate, a proper day/night time cycle with star constellations and dynamic weather. Yes the game needs optimization but the player can do a lot of that by himself, there are lots of tutorials concerning squeezing the last fps out of the system. Problems are too random to blame only the game for that.

    Nice idea...but complex. They would have to "redesign" the tire management system and it would need more effort than what it brings into the game. And it's pretty difficult to have working hardware still lying around, having vehicles that actually work is already a "miracle" as they don't need any further maintenance when beeing used, sometimes even abused. Aircraft either military or civilian are decaying much faster than some people think if they are not maintained every day even when not in use.

    Train handle

    The idea using technicals is better than a train running around from one end to another ( although it will be a good means of transportation ) but who would run it and how long would thery survive? Same as using a(n armed ) helo, you can get from A to B fast but that's it's only advantage, everything else is a disadvantage - big target, loud, difficult to hide, needs long to refuel if you don't happen to play on lingor/panthera servers where they noobed the fueling system down and removed the thrill of beeing exposed, as mentioned elsewhere before where did the electricity come from? ). There are enough idiots who get the lulz from ruining another players game.

    I have the perfect games....either L4D or Dead island, you dan kill as much Zeds as you like and die in hilarous ways...no need to add that in a mod/game that isn't meant to be a military survival.

    If it were it would have been named DayP and he didn't have to add the Zeds and have made the game into a Mad Max type of scenario, wouldn't he?

    ehm....balancing cod kiddie military loot hunter? If you want to play a military guy you should try out vanilla ArmA 2. It's much more fun ( more military vehicles and military grad weapons ) and has a lot more players to shoot at and no annoying Zeds.

    How about whole Chernarus contaminated and your character dies every day due to radioactive contamination then you are resurrected as a Zed.

    ...if someone is willing to sacrifice days of their freetime to script them for you...otherwise it's just dumb AI vs the player running from lootspawn to lootspawn...i doubt Rocket or his team will do that, enough to do with ArmA 3 and DayZ is currently planned as MP only for it to "work".

    Most pvp encounters don't go that way which makes some players mad because in most times it's just senseless killing and not out of necessity. Ok i admit i sometimes do that if i am in a group and face another group, actually i let the others have it but i stay passive most of the time and try not to draw attention, i killed 2 players just yesterday while returning fire and the day before yesterday i was shot in the back while following an unarmed player because i was curious where he would go and maybe he needed help because he aggroed some Zeds, so i turned around to shoot back but it seems the player DCed after failing to injure me serious enough ( the makarov shot tickled a bit... ) and i lost a potential new buddy. Most times it's just a "i see you i kill you" situation which is obviously not how most people think it should be played but are forced too because you can't get into talking distance when the guns talk first. A lot of people would love to interact..my buddies brought 4 players into our teamspeak they met and talked to in game...it works if you have the right people. In the game players behave like that because there is no consequence in death, if it were a RL situation most wouldn't even come out to fight and rather run away and that's where pvpers and survivors collide. Pvpers mostly don't care about gear because they are backed up, survivors try to make the best of it and don't look for every piece of rare gear.

    DayZ uses the ArmA 2 engine which is why DayZ and ArmA 2 share the same fate if you have bad hardware or settings. In your case it should run fine. Just don't set everything to very high ( in fact you don't need to ), the game really needs some fine tuning from the user.

    That's not the main problem here...if only one trigger isn't activated because some AI decides to go another way while retreating the whole campaign is fucked up because you can't roll back ( example for a linear campaign in ArmA ). Now imagine that in an interactive world where there are even more random changes...
