Everyone seems to want the game to mimic The Walking Dead.
billyangstadt replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
I just wish ONE, just ONE, gaming studio would say, "You know what, if you don't like it...just leave. This game is meant to be hard, frustrating, and your chances of surviving long enough to even set up a camp are low. If you don't like playing in a creul, harsh world that a zombie apocolypse would provide, feel free to exit left and play one of the other 200 zombie shooters" Yet, everyone eventually sells out for the mighty dollar. -
I don't care if the loot system wasn't 100% ready
billyangstadt posted a topic in General Discussion
That's why we're here, to test. We can't test if the CLE is pulled because people kick and scream because they can't find food in the first 15 minutes. It's supposed to be a harsh world, is it not? I realize that it "wasn't completely ready". Yes, there were bugs, but again, that is why we are here. We're far more effective testers than a team of 10. I found plenty of food and gear once I adapted. That's the problem with today's impatient gamers, there's almost zero ability to adapt their game play. They still insist on following old loot routes or loot maps because they won't change what they think works. Everyday people say "alpha" when it's convenient, but don't actually believe what they're saying. You're here to TEST, not play a final released game. I also love the people who threaten to quit every time a patch doesn't go their way. Good riddance. You're here to give feedback, not kick and scream, we don't need you. Damn near every "hardcore survival" game out there is riddled with loot because we have communities (essentially all of the same people) who only have the attention span to treat the game as a run and gun, and when they have to work for their supplies, they cry that the loot is broken. Now everywhere I turn there's overflowing amounts of useful gear. Gamebreaking. I'm sorry. /rant..- 21 replies

I can agree with that. -

Again, how are we supposed to test if it gets removed on a hotfix? I don't believe they got all of the data they needed in that short time. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
billyangstadt replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
It's a game based on latency and server load...then your internet takes the load of an aggroed zombie. So, if you have a ping over 100, you will always have this problem. No clipping zombies have nothing to do with the game. If your internet is shit(based on server location), it will never go away. -
Variation of Buildings has lost their sense

Do you really think that loot would ONLY be bound to one place in a real scenario? Loot will spread itself out, aswell of having a higher chance at their relative areas. -
Can someone please help me understand "persistence"
billyangstadt posted a topic in General Discussion
So, I've been playing on the UN First person server and I love it. As I was playing today, I see a message that says persistence is off until fixed. What includes "persistence"? Can I still place a tent to store loot? or does persistence being off stop all forms of storage? -

Does placing them inside of the tent mean that the items are "on the ground"? -
Hello, I have a few questions before I purchase the server. I've not found a server that I like yet, and would be wanting to buy my own now. 1. Can i control the day/night cycles? I'm tired of playing 24/hr day. I'm assuming the way to do this would be to know exactly what time it gets dark. Does anyone know? 2. Can I control the weather? It literally never rains on some servers

I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing the invincible zombies im hearing about
billyangstadt posted a topic in General Discussion
I killed a zombie in 5 hits with a lug wrench (multiple times), and 3 with an axe. I'm hearing people hitting zeds with a crowbar 25 times and the zed not dying, I'm guessing they're not hitting them in the head. The zombies are much harder to kill, but I'm suspecting people are just making up ridiculous numbers in hopes that the devs will send it back to easy mode. Zombies should not be attacked, as it should be. Sprinting at them with a melee and trying to deke and swing should not be acceptable, be defensive first. This is where people are having issues, I believe. Stealth mode works, it just takes patience and waiting sometimes. Even if you aggro a zed, run in and out of barns..after about 200 meters..they give up or lose you. The zombies are harder to kill, yes, but much easier to shake. -

I agree, here. The streamers I'm watching who compain about loot are STILL spot looting from their previous loot route. It's infuriating. They even say, "I am checking everywhere, bro, why u mad" , yet he'll run by 4 houses to get to the police station. Some people should have been swallowed. -

I didn't say 25 axe hits, I said crowbar. -
You can't judge what a game should be by what you think is market popular. DayZ still stands tall, despite several new titles coming out every year. They all eventually fizzle. People THINK they want full on PVP until they realize there are 1000 other games just like it. Everyone though WarZ was going to kill Dayz....everyone thought 7 days to die was going to kill DayZ, same with H1Z1, Rust, Dead Linger, Contagion, etc. All games who tried to rip DayZ off and add more PVP....all titles other than H1Z1 right now are dead. Why can't DayZ finally be the ONE game that stands true to hardcore survival from all elements, not just PVP?

I hope the devs stick to their proverbial guns on this one. I stopped playing this game after only 20 hours because everytime I turned around there were fruit, ammo, and Sporters. I could have decent gear in under 30 minutes. It was awful. -

This is my toon as of now. Not hungry or dying. I consider myself an amateur player with 100 total hours played and I still manage to survive in this "no loot" environment as people call it. I think what helps me is that I'm not bound to loot routes. I'm still discovering where loot spawns, so I check everywhere. I found Mosin ammo next to a light pole running down the road. If I can not starve to death, anyone can if they're patient. Picking apples and drinking from ponds suck, but it will save your life. -
There's no ammo, guns, or food anywhere. I spawned in Berezino and can't find a gun. I looked for 20 minutes. This game is stupid. I'm going to H1Z1. In all seriousness, I love the game right now. I love starving to death. I think games this brutal in nature should only have a small survival rate upon respawn. If you're patient, you will find food. Get off of the coast and explore. This game is still the industry leader, no game has even come close to the depth and realism. That's what I want to play, a sim. Even if a walking or eating sim. There are too many Run N Gun zombie "survival" games out there with 0 PVE threat. I love the indepthness of the medical, diseases. There should be 1000 other things that would kill you other than a bullet or a zed. Keep up the great work. I've just reinstalled and I'm having a blast. I don't mind dying to starvation, how it should be. -Billy

Yet, you're the still only checking military bases for weapons. Guess what, shit spawns anywhere, now. Doesn't matter if it's low pop or not. The days of loot being new when the server restarts are over. Again, you're trying to follow your old looting routes. Forget anything you ever knew and move from there. All you seem to mention are ammo and guns. Is that all this game is? What about the other items that spawn? Tunnel vision looting is why people think the loot sucks. The game is what you make of it. If you're just looking to gear up and have clan wars, you're gunna have a bad time. For food focus more on farming, fishing, etc. Before you fly off of the handle there, I found a shovel, lime, and seeds within a half hour of looting. Crafting is your friend for fishing gear too. Canned food should be non-existant, or as rare as it is now. That's why they're perishables. -

Yea, I don't get it either. He claims to be ok with being in the alpha stage and testing, but complains that features and updates are forced onto his server. If people had the option, most servers would revert to the patches where M4's rained like boonies. Nothing would ever get tested. -

billyangstadt replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
Why should it not be forced? It's their vision. Do you think they want people to have the luxury of which features and patches to allow onto their private servers? We'd have overwatch servers again. -

Welcome to the end of the world. You're not going to survive for a longtime everytime you respawn. So, you're telling me that you search inside and outside of every house and building? Even non enterable ones? I've found more loot on the ground near poles, busstops, around houses than anywhere. People run into the door, look around, "wahh loot sucks" and leave. -

I actually had seeds on me. I found a long white barn with 3 seed packs, but could only carry one. I'm cold because I drank pond water and am wet. Food is meant to be scarce. I found a can of beans in the very first house I checked under a table, FYI. Again, it was on a spawn node that wasn't ever used. People get tunnel vision and get impatient searching houses. How much food do they walk by? -
I understand that, but the threads I'm reading are different than what you're point out. We're dealing with the people who sprint to the closest large town from their spawn, then flip out when everything is already looted, and run here complaining that there is no loot. I play on very high pop servers and don't even stop to loot without running atleast 15 minutes inland, because I know people are already been there. Once I get near the small towns toward the center of the map, most doors are closed or loot was missed by the spot looter. Watching various streamers whom display the behavior above are what bother me. They have a large influence on what happens, and they complain when they don't have a gun and ammo within 20 minutes for entertainment. Loot isn't bad, it's just scarce. Just as you'd expect.

LOL, yea, I can almost see you cocked and loaded ready to let me have it. I'm tired of the whining. Quit trying to ruin our damn game. If it's too hard, find another. We need at least one truly hardcore game. Everyone wants a game like "The Walking Dead", but don't think past the glitz and glam of what the show puts in the episodes. They don't add the days of walking and looting..and more walking and looting. They only show them armed after months of looting.
