This is the DayZ I bought ARMA 2 for early last year. For once, I'm dying to the elements and not just bandits. The infection is probably the best addition yet. Antibiotics are rare, and I've died several times due to not finding meds, which I would presume is how it would really be. Knowing that the standalone has more disease and chances to die naturally or indirectly to zombies, makes me excited. The loot system is the best I've seen to date. High end military weapons are pretty rare. Barracks, tents, hangers have been throttled back and most of the time I find cans or ammo. I love it. Additonal loot nodes in places most people ignore means you need to explore a bit more. I notice most of the posts are complaints they we're no longer tripping over AK's and DMR's at heli crashes or tents anymore, this is a post to let you guys know that some of us love that the difficulty has been amped up and to not succumb to the those who aren't getting their way. If this is a glimpse of standalone, man, it can't come soon enough. -Billy.

Devs; Allow me to applaud you.

I found a box of anti-biotics! I remember this feeling when I first installed the mod. This is awesome! -

Definitely agree about the pathfinding. The zigzag running makes it difficult to hit them, which means you basically need to stop to do so. -
I see alot of hives with over 200 vehicles and crazy custom loadouts, looking for something a little more hardcore. The server i currently play on lags terribly. I've been going through the lists and have seen some cool looking servers, but they involve downloading mods. Looking for something that uses the default files, have a decent starting load (atleast a hatchet), and isn't loaded with tons of vehicles or admins who abuse their power. Thanks.

Just wanting to hear some opinions here. I play on a private hive that has a decent amount of vehicles, but I personally prefer to trek on foot. For me the stress of having to keep it hidden or not knowing if it will be there on next login is too much. Also, it's a little more quiet looting, yea, it takes a lot longer to get from place to place, but it's easier to spot tents and other vehicles to loot when you're not going 100 kph. Anyone else?

Not sure if these have been mentioned before, but here are suggestions in regard to vehicles. 1) Car Keys. This could be a way to keep your vehicle moderately safe as the vehicle would require the keys to steal it, or a rare hotwire kit. 2) Car Alarm . If a car is being hotwired or griefed, the alarm will go off alerting any nearby zombies, putting the thief in danger. 3) Dead battery and jumper cables. After a car has been sitting dormant for a while, the battery will die. Jumper cables and another vehicle would be required, or a fresh battery 4) Headlight repair, ignition, etc. These would be items that are crucial to a vehicle and the vehicles operation would depend on these systems functioning.

Yea, just something to make it a tad more difficult to steal a car. Not everycar would have the keys in it, maybe they're in the house, maybe they're on the zombie that was the owner..Who knows!?

As of right now, when we see the green pouch, it's usually a Mak. Mag, but it could be a map, watch, compass, etc... Something like the matchbox would be nice, so we can loot stores quickly and get out, as of now, we have stop at every loot pile with a green pouch, it may not seem like long..but those few seconds could be you getting spotted or getting away.

Only because some script kiddie will either mass kill everyone in the server, teleport everyone to one spot, or teleport behind you and kill you. Playing on high pop servers is asking to be robbed of your time.

what good private hive servers are there ?

Vehicles outside of the map will be reset to their spawn points. This prevens hoarding of vehicles and off map camps.

DayZ is a joke in its current form

Oh, look, someone who was attached to their gear was killed and wants us to care he's ragequitting. -
Easiest way to avoid hackers ( for noobs who don't know)
billyangstadt posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
From experience, the most populated servers are where the mass killings take place. I usually used to sort by player numbers, until I realized that the hackers loved to grief to higher populated servers. Now, I have a few servers that I stay in that are between 20-30 people at the most at a time, and have not had a problem yet. -
Question about the standalone..please don't shoot.
billyangstadt posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sure it's been asked 100 times, but I can't find an estimated release date for the SA. Any ideas? -
I've searched this topic, and have not found any discussion. I have returned to 4 confirmed camps I have marked on a map from a week ago, all the tents in the camps are leveled and flat. I don't think this is a scenerio of someone destroying them as most as WAY out of the way of vehicles. Other players on Skype are having the same issue with their tents. Any ideas?
-
I don't think so. I've talked to several people after the update, that would be about 15-20 camp sites, and all are leveled. Seeing as how they've been there for months, I highly doubt anyone ran them over all at the same time. Plus, like I said, there's no way a vehicle would get to some of these sites...even an ATV would be risky.

Why is the M14 so overlooked?
billyangstadt replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's by far my fave weapon. It's a one hit kill for me. -
I've searched and have not found any answers. I've read that it's out of control and figured it was an overreaction by someone attached to their gear, WRONG. I join a server..loot for a few hours...boom hacker kills everyone in server. A few hours later I join a different server, a few minutes goes by..Boom, everyone is teleported to an off map camp and killed. I join a third server a day later...a few minutes goes by again...boom...mass kill. I had no idea it was THIS bad, geesh.

What's being done about the hacking?
billyangstadt replied to billyangstadt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok, thanks. Question, how would the standalone be any different? Isn't it using ARMA's code, which the hacks are algorithmed on? -
This, in my opinion would be a perfect setting for a Jurassic Park type mod. I know there's way too much going on, and coding would be extensive, but I can dream..right?

This will just encourage people to spawn surf again.

I'm still wondering how a GPS unit still receives data.

I usually check these forums every other do or so, when I have time. It seems like everyday someone is complaining about the game going downhill, mainly because someone killed them. So you lost your gear, big deal, it's part of the game. You have no idea why that person killed you, it could have been for your gear, it could have been to piss you off...both fair reasons. The game turning into a deathmatch has made it a lot more fun for me, I'd much rather have it this way. I have to sneak around and be aware of my surroundings. I can't hang out in popular spots for long, I get in and get out. It adds so much more to the game. If everyone was a friendly, the mod would get boring fast. I personally love the direction the mod is headed, minus the hacking. Just a cool story, bro.
