DayZ mod is a simple custom mod, usermade addon, usermade content... Just some cool idea by some guy from New Zealand... Yes, this user is talented, he is Rocket... But it's just a mod. Don't expect something amazing from it. I have 100% faith that standalone will be dealing with hackers effectively. Your point is contrary. No more arguments, sorry. I don't want to convince you... Neither will Rocket. Mark my words. :D You will buy DayZ standalone :) And you will play it. You seem like a person who is passionate about DayZ and is willing to see it fixed and be better. I'm that kind of person too. But I quit playing DayZ mod. I don't like it anymore, merely because of the technical impediments (hacking, lags etc.). Full blown commercial product will be more secure for players who bought it in terms of updates and hackers. It's not a 100% fact, but it's my 100% hope and faith. You can believe me or not. My decision is made. No more mods - I need the standalone. Now I feel better and don't care about the hackers and bugs. I'm patient person. I'd rather keep patience then spoil my mood with the bugs and hackers. -

You're missing something. Hackers are ruining the mod. Rocket is working on the standalone game. Mod - no way to stop hackers. Game - all possibilites to stop hackers. -

You're right. But please, consider the fact, that it is a user made addon, not a game. Just some random guy from New Zealand made some nice addon\mod. DayZ is not dead, it haven't even actually born yet :) It is released only now, by the end of this year. -

Oh, my 4 hours and penalties are just for example of the idea. It must be tuned for comfortable gameplay and balanced of course.

DayZ is not realistic, it's authentic - "Rocket said" ™. It makes you think and feel the same things as you would fell and thing when you try to survive in real life. It's not looking like real life or must obey all life laws. It makes you think of true problems, consider real aspects, behave like in real life. Realism and authenticity are often mixed up. Too much realism can break gameplay, make the game unplayable and dull. Authenticy can never be such cause. Please, think of it.

Time is non-changeable in multiplayer. So the idea can be implemented for the offline time. Let's say, if you log off in a sleeping state (in sleeping bag, on a bed in your vault, in a house on the bed or on the ground in the woods or in the field) you recieve different penalties\bonuses when you log back in after some time. Let's say, we have two conditions GOOD SLEEP (more than 4 hours offline) and BAD SLEEP (less than 4 hours offline). Good sleep can cure shock, and give some stamina bonus. Bad sleep gives nothing to you. Bad sleep combined with sleeping on the ground without bed or sleeping bag can cause you get infection. Not sleeping and just logging off (for more than 4 hours) will make you very hungry and thirsty and can be 30% risk of causing shock at the moment you login. Just an example to develop something better.

Rocket must play at a hackered server, get respawned with hacked items, get auto-banned. Then he will believe. Until that happened... I dont believe it too. And about hackers roaming and game rebuy conspiracies... Dude, please, think about one simple fact. Hacking tools are sold. Cheaters buy it. Go at server, hack everything till they get autobanned. They go buy another Arma key, go cheating, banned, repeat. This is like going to cinema for them. Dozen bucks to have a half an hour fun in a movie where you are god and everyone feels your power. I know a guy who got banned and bought Arma key again at least 12 times! I told him he is crazy. He told me he has right to spend his money anyway he likes, even burn them. Imagine how many people like that in the world of DayZ. Now you can calculate the real unique players count. One million keys logged in to DayZ? Yes. Unique players? Not sure. Even I bought a second key to play with my squad, because my roleplay survivor character is wandering elsewhere and is in constant adventure and I have no time to run for hour to our rally point unprepared. I bought myself this time and my combat group character is always packed and ready in the middle of the map. DayZ became more than popular. It's an infectoius idea, it's hysteria. No one left indifferent to this game after spawning on the beach in terror. Unique emotions. So hackers sell their cheats. People sell porn, because someone's willing to pay. Another one sells pills with sugar telling it cures everything for the same reason. No excuse for hack developers, but they reflect our corruptive demands. DayZ Mod was just one of the hundreds of usermade custom addons for Arma. Without any plan to attract thousands. Arma never was mainstream and never had publicly persistent MMO gameplay to that extend. This mod and Arma were unprepared for this legions. Folks, please, realize this mod is played by almost a million of players, while was planned for a hundred. It all exploded in four months! Noone could prevent hacking so quickly, especially a simple user, with his simple usermade addon... Genious user, Dean Hall, hired by BIs, but still an addonmaker. Now he has THE ENGINE, THE TEAM, THE SOURCE CODE. He is addonmaker no more. He makes a real and serious game for us. I saw somthing I can't tell which convinced me that Rocket is so passionate about his DayZ, that he is determined to rewrite every freaking part of the engine if it is not making DayZ better. Have faith. Be strong. You will survive this painful alpha-mod and be rewarded. :D Take care. Cheers. -
Sir, this is not a game. It's a usermade custom mod. Game is not even released. It's coming soon by the end of the year or earlier. Please return. This was a test before the game. All the most interesting is ahead ;)

Sorry, forgot that not everyone knows this old DayZ ritual :) NOTE: QE-QE is the "friendly dance". If you press Q then E repeatedly your character will lean left and right. Thus showing "I'm friendly. Don't shoot". -
Internetz and forums are fast gates to meet thousands of people. You never meet so many agressive or foolish people in your everydays live. They don't talk to you at least, because it's stupid to stop a person on the street and say "Hey! Go back and play whatever-game" or something. Here you meet thousands of people, who are drugged by Internet anonynmousity. So they behave the way they really are without moral or other restrictions. I advise you to report every person you feel is telling something improper and don't take it too close emotionally. Yeah, ignore them and report'em. Rules of the forums strive to build every discussion objectively, polite and productive. If some troll breaks this order, we can find him a suitable warning (offtop, falming, offence, abuse or "being a pain in the ass"). Cheers, and hope you don't get too disappointed in us. :)

ezlyconfuzed, I share your pain and before someone reports your thread and your post I edited it so that it is not containing anything offensive. I sincerely don't want this thread to disappear or you get warned, because we need these threads to remind us about the problem. Sorry to hear this, but don't give up. Be strong and fight them back. Hopefully these relog issues will be fixed by the end of the year or even earlier I think. So let's keep patience. DayZ will survive and prosper. Cheers. -

Arma2 was never designed for persistent MMO games. Never. It was military simulatoor for non anonymous squads of friends or oraganized communities. Arma2 will never be adapted to this. It is about soldiers getting their mission done in a long or short period of time. It was worthless for hacker to hack these private battles. But now Aram2 mod gone mainstream and hackers activated to have fun. Arma2 was not prepared. Until DayZ is a mod for Arma2, nothing will ever change. When DayZ becomes standalone, it will have it's own engine source code and developers OF DAYZ will do whatever is needed for DAYZ. ARMA2 developers won't change ARMA2 just because of some zombie mod, even such fantastic like DayZ. Things must not be mixed. So wait until it goes standalone and these issues will be dealt with properly. -

It can be illegal private Hive server. Can you be sure it was battleyed and official? If not, they could have this "offline" Hive and do whatever they want. -

You seem to miss the point of DayZ :) Sport Crossbow is added. Why not paintball gun? If I could use it for survival somehow, I would not throw it away. What's wrong with the swords? You use hatchet and crowbar every day. You use knife. Sword is a big knife forged for melee combat. I'd defifnitely use sword agains any threat instead of a hatchet. If I'd find a sword, I'd sharpen it and always carry with me in case of such survival scenario. Fire hatchets can only cut through flesh deep. Swords can cut out limbs... Simple, harmless torch! You make torches every day in DayZ. But you put them in a pile on the ground. They are called campfires. Take out a branch on fire and you have a torch. Authentic. Why are you against it?

Good! Ok. Let's wait. As for the questions in my thread... I'm filtering them. Most of questions are exact copies of the questions answered by Rocket in his interviews. Luckily I have thoroughly translated them all in Russian (even let's play videos ), put it in News section and give links to it whenever somebody "dupes" another question. But mostly people ask when do you add this AK or this AK, and will you add custom weapon sights change ability. Of course "Do you plan to fix hacking issues when people use teleports, map markup, loot spawn?" I usually slap them with simple "Have you seriously thought Rocket will ever answer NO to this?" =) A lot of cries about nerfing weapons, but some questions are good. The good ones I pick up and send translate to you. -
