Rocket is a sadistic bear f**ker
DZR_Mikhail replied to fish911503's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In case you're serious playZ... have you tried quitting DayZ and make your OWN game? :) Rocket won't give you source files and no one can force him, it's his own initiative and development. :) In case it's joke, ignore me :) -
I ticketed your problem to SickBoy, the Six Launcher developer. May be he will come up with a solution. https://dev-heaven.net/issues/37230

It seems to me your network is somehow blocking the incoming GameTracker packets. Describe your security systems, which firewall and antivirus you use, do you have VAC enabled in Windows 7, do you launch all the game and Launcher files with admin privelegies?

How come it's not fake and has a vehicle which is not officially in DayZ? Hmmm...

Game purchase only. Please! NO "Free to play" it's certain death to the game. Subscription is death to community. I'll never play subscription or free-to-play again in my life. It's self-destruction. I'd rather pay you $50 once. Hmmm... I could pay $50 once a year :) Such subscription I can handle. 1) I trust rocket's common sense and accept any decision he's gonna make. It's his child, he will do the best to get it prospering. 2) Same here. But community servers help devs to cope with capacity problems, though require handling updates. Official servers will cost much more to devs. 3) I never donated a dime to a kickstarter project, because there's nothing there I'm interested in. But as for DayZ, I will support it as much as I can afford.

Communication/identification between/of survivors
DZR_Mikhail replied to randomizer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Good idea to some extend. This will sure compensate the lack of visual identification. As for realism... In RL in a group you can distinguish everyone by their walk, their dirt on their boots, by a turned backwards cap, by haircut, by skin colour, by gear hanging at unique side, faces of course and many other unique features. There are thousnads of subtle detail in real life which you register to yourself, remember for one single person in your group. You never gonna misidentify him at close range. In DayZ? In DayZ we almost always have the same height, complexity, skin tone, clothes, walking animations etc. Clone farm. Even guns and faces are not enough, they can be the same for two players. So, compared to that, I'd sacrifice some realism and have something to compensate this pure unrealizm. Name plates, buddy marks, side arm bandages for accepted teammate... anything. Just need to make firefights in groups more possible, instead of looking at a pack of gunmen alike shouting at eachother "Is that you? Lean" then he gets shot, because it "wasn't him, but an enemy"... You know what I mean :) -
Scripts in arma can do everything. In original Arma people write scripts which change the AI behaviours, attach markers, glue toghether UAZ and a cannon... Unlimited ways to control the game. So it's a matter of hackers imagination of what to do. So they wrote a script which marks every player on the server with a huge red dot, then they make it so that when they look at this dot they have a button "BOOOM" and the next moment scrip spawns some 5 artillery rounds to explode at your feet. When they get access to launch custom script, their power is not limited and I suggest you logout every time you see weird non-DayZ events happening, explosing cities, nukes, parachuting cows, tanks etc. It's a matter of hackers craziness and lawl-mood unitl he executes a script like this: {_x setDamage 1;} foreach allUnits; This script will loop through all network players, zombies, animals and vehicles and kill\destroy them. I'm not a cheater, I don't use such crap, but when you build custom missions scripts make it easier to implement many interesting things. Many old Arma fans know scripting even better and can tell you much more fantastic things yo ucan do with scripts.

As far as I know you need to be not bleeding and have enough blood before you logout so that you won't see hourglass again on login. I haven't got login hourglass for months. Just be attentive.

I'm glad you went lucky to find a good guy. In my opinion, telling that people only kill each other for beans in DayZ is no more than an analogue of the crime statistics in real world. In RL we have lots of ruthless criminals spilling blood. Yes, they are numerous, it's disturbing. But in general, people live, help each other and live further whatever happens, zombie, nuclear or any other apocalypse. Bad things are easily forgotten. Good things - never. All that will be left in our memories about DayZ will consist of such awesome help\cooperation stories in full color and detail, with a tiny vague gray note to oneself "and yes, there were bad times, but we got over it". DayZ is more real than we all think. It is a model of human emotional and moral evolution. At first you may think it's a game, then "damn difficult game", then you realize there's something more than a game. Then you go roleplay and find all the freedom of DayZ or may be go coast-noob-shooting and quit it... And so on. I myself enjoy every moment of DayZ I can until it's gone. I won't ever forget this. For me this is the best game of all times. Uncompared emotions, experience and tension\happiness range. When DayZ standalone will be out next year, things may change and never be the same again. I really hope DayZ standalone game will explode and give us even more fun.

Are custom faces from clients enabled or diabled by default?
DZR_Mikhail replied to Techercizer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I believe the only way to check MaxCustomFileSize=0; is to join the server and ask someone whether your face is visible to others or not, right? -
Good idea.

Now you've got it :) I'm making a wall of text. Guyz, now wait a little bit and you'll see the next logical idea to emerge. Having children (kindergartens, schools and teachers, gosh, someone already suggested urinating and shitting system!!!)... Cmon guyz. It's too much. Such specific features are already there in your head. Be creative! Find a fellow female character. Discuss it. Arrange an everyday meeting in the bushes near a campfire. Roll over her and pretend you've had it done. Tell each other you have had a wonderful night and you feel much better. Make screen or video, you'll blow YouTubes the hell out with thousands of views! "Hey! Horrorble survival zombie apocalypse in DayZ with no hope and ruthless bandits everywhere!? Watch this!!! Make love, not loot, dammit!" Tell me why you need a meter and game mechanics for this? Have you ever heard of roleplay. This DayZ sandbox allows you to do every possible roleplay event you can imagine if you find the right people and enough patience to arange everything. And a tiny bit of imagination. Need more crazy roleplay ideas without any single line of code in DayZ and without new game mechanics? Ok, I'll try just what comes first to my mind without preparations. 1) Open your own barbecue shop. Sell meat for water and vice versa. Have someone hunting for cows and supply you with meat. 2) Gather with friends at empty server round a campfire and tell scary stories. Arrange some actor-guy with zombie face character and a hatchet to jump out of bushes with screams at a most intense story part. Noone ever forgets this. 3) Call a flashmob, choose empty server and write a huge text on the ground "SOS" with campfires at night. Make screens. Win screenshot contest on DayZ forums. Your screen will be famous in DayZ universe and surely hit's official twitters. 4) Find a cool scoped rifle. Place soda cans on some height. Organize a tournament "Makarov\Crossbow sharpshooter". Entry fee is, I dunno, a magazine for makarov\bolt or meat. Contestants must hit a can with makarov from let's say 50 or 100 meters. 10 hits - winner takes prize of sniper rifle. 5) Make a geocaching website for DayZ. Simple forum. Make a screen of some unique landmark (bench on the hill, old tree with a plate, or just a bunch of interesting trees etc. ) Place some not very obvious screen in a topic. The one who finds the place, receives some prize. You just tell on which server and what time you will leave his prize. Or make some rating system for the forum, and people will come to compete. It's interesing. I was creating roleplay events before DayZ in games and in RL and now try in DayZ. Don't waste breath on telling that I'm stupid and naive and each of my sugested event will be camped and will end when one griefer with a hatchet joins the party. If it happens, d'oh, whatever, one colorless griefer gained his lulz, just a delay. In real life every party can be ruined the same way, except for without a hatchet. Freaks are numerous around us in reallife, they care only for their narrow self-esteem. Best way to ignore them and continue your own way, your life. And you, as an initiator of something positive like I described, can find ways and strength to arrange everything properly. It's a matter of social and organizating skill to find and gather adequate sane group of survivors (I have no problems with that right now). Acting like a wild berserk in terrifying situation, acting as a victim in the apocalyptic scenario, commitiing bloodbath for lulz on the shore… It's, well, sorry, it's childish and passive, it's just dull inertial thinking. The challenge in my idea is this: you're not plainly obediently survive as the game dictates you or developing "an authentic thinking on survival" as Rocket suggest… You bring life and unexpected events, stories and fun to the most dreadful god-forgotten place on this virtual Earth. You continue our life not for fight against the terror, but regardless of this terror. People tend to forget bad thing and always praise and remeber good times. It's been always like that, ingame or in RL doesn't matter. P.s. Remember Dr.Wasteland, who came on demand to those who needed medical help? Another perfect example of "breaking out of the System". Think about it.

Ok. Done. Vote it up and it will be fixed. https://dev-heaven.net/issues/36687

I didn't get the search field too. It's just invisible. I'll ticket this to dev-heaven.

End game content is planned to develop. But as far as I could guess from rocket's interviews, it is probably planned for the standalone version of the game in the future. May be we can get lucky to see some of it in this mod.

Thanks, rocket. Good to hear from you. We all wish you all the best luck with your current workload with DayZ and your moving to Prague.
