Being very tied to your belongings and possessions is not wise. You MUST understand you take risk of being tracked down and killed for this camp. You must understand it. You can't of course blame anyone for this, yeah, tragic incident, but only yourselves. Get over it. Be careful next time. Use tents for short term supply sites. Change places often. Never go at camp alone, always have one sinepr backup to survey the camp. DON'T SIT AT YOUR CAMP! Take what you need and leave to safety, in the woods! Don't log off at your camp. You risk to login with a bandit at your back already looting the camp. Log off in safety. Think about it. Cheers and teake care.

As far as I heard from Rocket, tenst will continue to be present after owners death until they are not used for a certain amount of time or server restart..

DayZ vs Other Zombie MOD Games
DZR_Mikhail replied to mejle12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Chernarus Apocalypse mod is pretty tense and interesintg. And it's totally cooperateive. Classic zombie stuff. Made for arma2 as well. We played it a lot. Very good stuff for a change. Just get at least 4 people to cooperate. You'll survive. -
Actually, in 22 seconds if you remove the intro text ;)

Use proper overlay recorders such al PlayClaw and Fraps. I hope I understood your issue correctly.

The Importance of Bandits
DZR_Mikhail replied to ShadowPhileas's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you check my posts, they are all pretty pacifist. Yeah, I hate bandits and wish them gone. But I do this only as a part of a roleplay. Of course as my character I'd prefer not havin both zombies and bandits at all, live good long life, make my own farm etc... But as a DayZ player I totally agree, you're right. No bandits will lead all gamplay into zero interest. There's no light without the darkness. I will not ever myself choose a path of a bandit (except for a good ol' group firefight at an airfield). I don't like killing. And I think it's very easy to just find wepons and shoot without thinking everything that moves. Zombie? Survivor? Boar? Blah! Whatever. BAM!!! It's borin too ;) I'd rather help out someone and bring good to this apocalypse. P.s. Yeah, bandits do the dirty job in DayZ, they're part of the balance. I don't like dirty job :D -

Ah! Thermos, warm tea! Dude, this is awesome idea to contribute to immersion in the survival. This won't break anything in the gameplay, but will so much add to the atmosphere. Thanks for cool idea.

DZR_Mikhail replied to ssjenforcer's topic in New Player Discussion
By the way. You can give beans to him directly - http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/user/10710-sickboy/ Rocky Versus Panda, you can ticket your problem at dev-heaven.net and SickBoy will deal with this in no time. He's online now and will help you immediately. -
This is a part of the game. Permadeath is the main feature, man. It makes DayZ the best. But don't be despearate. You can meet up in 15 minutes most if you run in the direction of each other. Meet in teamspeak, tell him where is North using your shadow and run run run. Tell him not to waste time on loot. You will loot toghether better. Cheers. Take care. Hope you two meet soon and have a good time again.

I think, that if people live in this horrorble zombie apocalypse for, let's say, 5 years in the struggle to survive, they would take it all that easier :) They'll laugh in zombies face, make fun and even bandage themselves cheerfully :)

How did I even come across these?!?!

HOLY CRAP Six Launcher has UPDATE and works 100% now!!!!
DZR_Mikhail replied to ssjenforcer's topic in New Player Discussion
Congratulations! Welcome to the club of enlightened people who have no problems with the game. Thanks to SickBoy and his Six Launcher! Cheers, mate. Glad you're all right with this all. -
Get a map with loot spots on the Internet. Then find deer stands that are not close to villages or cities. If I'd risk to go to a city, I'd go Berezino. It's shop is pretty easily accessible, the whole city is easily monitored for other survivors from the hills. Sometimes there are a lot of people there, then just don't go. But I was never killed there. Once I even met a French guy and we teamed up and echanged skypes for future.

I'm playing pretty long time. I've got over this stage. It's okay for the first time, I guess. Well, you didn't kill them for lulz, that's respect. The unwritten rule in DayZ is "Survive. Kill to survive. Don't kill fof fun." In your case you killed for water to survive. If I were you, now from the top of my own experience, I would silently move off , run away and never engage a group alone. I'd take risk on getting water somewhere else. But if your water was blinking already for a long time, you could die. So in this case, I think, I'd venture to take risk and drop my gun and backpack in the nearby bushes and come unarmed to ask water. Yes, risky, deadly, but imagine what a satisfaction and gratitude to yourself you would earn, if these guys turn out to be good guyz, who will help you not only by giving water and may be you made friends with them. That would be a totally awesome story to tell on forums. Now your story is full of regret. You're good person, man. You feel guilty and it means you're on the right way. Please, try to not kill if it's possible. If this victim saves your life, well, it's sad, but most of us will nod and say "We know, it's hard, man. It's always a painful being guilty for killing. But you struggled for life. That's life. Learn lesson. Try to improve or avoid it in future". P.s. Try imagining you group being attacked and killed for water. Wouldn't you give a stupid can of soda and a can of stupid beans to a poor guy asking for food? I'd do. Why shooting? We're not animals, not bloodraged lunatics. People help each other in need. But If they'd kill you on sight without talking, then you met the wolf pack, just a silly bunch of bandits not worth mentioning on the forums. They're numerous. They just chose the most simplest way. NOT thinking is very easy.

I know it's offtopic, but I'd rather want dev spend time on a feature of hunting knife being weapon too and being able to cut small branches for shorter-time campfires and a feature of drinking from lakes without bottle... Another rifle is okay too, but we can still survive with current ones pretty easily.

The current state of this game.
DZR_Mikhail replied to pmjkerr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can guarantee Rocket is aware and is disturbed too. As far as I know they're finishing off some major stability\login issues and then address hacking and further modding. Let's wait guys, we must (cough) survive this shitty period. -
Can't play online... I start with no gun? 9999 ping on 90% of the servers
DZR_Mikhail replied to helder3000's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Six Updater sometimes has 9999 ping for me too. It's not a major issue. You must be using a firewall (I use ESET Internet Security) which Six Launcher sometimes not able to deal with. If you use ingame server browser, I can be positively sure you'll see normal ping detection. Try restarting SixLauncher, helps sometimes. As for the guns, yeah, no guns given at start now. -
I can't officially support such obscene speech and pure hacer-rage on these forums :) ... But dude, Batuhan87, you're so right and true!!!! I couldn't say it better, man. Take the beans. Hate the hackers too. Cheers.

How long does your dropped items pile stay on the server?
DZR_Mikhail replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thank you guyz! It seems that a loot pile disappears: 1) after server restart 2) if you go too far from your pile Loot pile is not disappearing for a long time if: 1) items owner is somwhere near 2) items owner logged off somewhere near 3) (unconfirmed) another player is nearby the pile -
At first when I was reading your idea I thought it's very interesting, but then you mentioned some calculationg murders stuff, then shown at debug monitor, and finally determine the players trustworthiness... And it all faded. I understand what you mean, and I really agree with you on the point, that informational layer in the game is missing. But you idea hints on this but develops some really unimmersive mechanics. If you think logically and may be real-lifestically :) Then you can understand, that a word of mouth among people in real life will never get you any debug monitor, any certain hints on every person you meet in your life. Word of mouth is a descriptive narrative process. So imagine one guy witnessed some other guy killing a survivor. Then, in real life, he would go to his community\group and in terrified voice describe all that he saw. This will be something like: "I saw one guy in the noon, near Mogilevka. He was wearing dirty jeans, and a black jacket. He also had these long dirty hair and a blue cap with some letter on it. He just crawled to one unarmed survivor at the shop and crushed his scull with a crowbar. He took anly beans and with a grin and laugh he joyfully marched into the woods. Holy Jesus, that was terrifying. I would advice you to run if you see him or kill this bastard on sight." You now undesrtand the problem. This is factually (informational layer) and descriptively (visual layer) full story. But in DayZ, there's no visual layer. Everyone's alike, no customization. And if you add a tag or nameplate for this feature only, just because you need to compensate the descriptive aspect, this will influence all the game at once and break the immersion. It's not about the realism, it's about immersion. You don't have nameplates in real life. You can only be 80% sure about the strangers name if you check his passport, but 20% of people around may have fake ids. So anonymous relation to the point of random stranger encounter without interaction must remain in the game. What we really need badly is to introduce something to develop the informational layer in the game. One tiny bit of informational layer is present already. It's some 1% or even 0.5% of what I expect in future. This feature is the one which allows you to check the corpse and know it's owner's name and the cause of death. This is so tiny subtle thingie, but it's totally awesome. One of my favourite features in DayZ :) This breaks the total informational vacuum in the game. You can know your enemy profile name after a firefight, you can know some poor soul's name if you stumble upon a corpse in the wilderness or elsewhere. But it's too little. I know forums are full of good and bad ideas which were inspired by the feel that the game lack informational layer. These features are about naming tents, having paperbooks\notepads\journal where one writes everything he wants and can share it with others or it can be found after his death. Another interesting feature I saw yesterday was about introducing of players to eachother. If one player clicks "intorduce" action when looking at other player, and other player makes the same action, then these two players are now acquainted and have some visual hint on the screen to know for sure it's your introduced friend. For example, you can see his nameplate from a distance when face can be distinguished. let's say 30m then it fades. Or in bunoculars or scopes the same when zoomed to that amount. Consider this as a known face of another player. Such feature will boost up the game so enormously, that it will immediately gain another life for both PvP and survival. DayZ will finally breathe in the social aspect, which is totally ignored atm. This feature is balanced to contribute gameplay and won't allow cheating at this, because you will not be able to "remember a face" of a player who is not willing to share it with you. He just doesn't click "introduce" and nameplates never appear. This is only "full duplex", two way, mutual decision and mechanics. So anonymous will stay anonymous, and thoe who need friends, will have them. If you die, your memory, of course erased and you know noone. How do yo ulike it? P.s. Sorry for stealing topic with my own ideas, but I can't help it :) I'm so impressed with the game :)

A regretful but tense DayZ situation
DZR_Mikhail replied to LeYuno (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
If you wish, we can exchange contacts, so that if our timezones match, we can team up. PM me. I'm not anonymous and not risk my reputation so I never shoot first (except only if a I see a camper near Elektro, sorry :( ). -
