There's no official 1.61 version. Only constant beta-patches which are forming the release candidate for stable 1.61. You must use beta patches to play DayZ. I'd suggest you use Six Launcher and be happy. This app is one-click simple and takes care of everything, mods, versions etc. -
"enableItemsDropping = 0;" Prevents gear to be lost when swimming.

Fraps, Dxtory, Xfire I use PlayClaw, comes with nice teamspeak3 overlay, records sound both from game, from teamspeak and my own speaking voice (may be not a big deal, but I had problems with this sound mess in the past with fraps).

Ok. Now find your arma2oa.rpt file. Then grab log file from Six Launcher and send them attached to private message. I will submit them as a ticket to Six Launcher devteam and we will solve it today.

Are you 100% sure you use SIX LAUNCHER and not SIX UPDATER? Six launcher does everything automatically. Six updater is for advanced mod management.

Endgame conten is planned. No details so far. Rocket told it will definitely be in the standalone game and it will not break the games core concept. -
Have you installed Arma2 then Arma2 Operation Arrowhead above it int the same directory as an expansion? Or do you have a combined ops DVD? Do you have Combined Ops shorctcut on your desktop?

my overquoting is delibereate to ease the navigation Rocket haven't confirmed that, but he expressed some ideas that different maps will be possible when they will make the standalone game stable enough to address such things as new locations. He told that he can also improve Chernarus one day. He told that he wants to get use of powergrids and bring up electricity in the game. He thinks it's possible to recompile Chernarus and make all buildings enterable, as in Takistan and Aram3 now. At Rezzed conference he answered exactly the same question. He told that now it's abit difficult and development team has much more important stuff to to. If you gonna make a wild bear in the woods, you must create model, create animations, tune configs, texture it… It's really a massive amount of work as for now. When, again, game is quite stable and pretty well done, they will address the additional content. Loosing gear is fixed in recent beta patches. You just need to add a paramter to your server and your gear is safe. Sorry, beta patch log section is broken, can't find the exact parameter. Nice, very interesting. It's like a crashsite but in two steps. You don't need the separate ingame mechanics to learn experience of other players. You need DayZmod.com/forum/ and Google. Enormous knowledge base is at your disposal. P.s. DayZ wiki is a good resource! Currently game engine is not designed to handle this. You character, you player ingame is the actual representation of you connected client fact. Once game is killed\shut down or your connection is lost - your player disappears. So there's no native way to prevent a player from disconnecting. But in reverse, doing something after next login is pretty easy. Rocket is developing something very cool on that. Let's wait. I guarantee there won't be any other skills\perks\traits in DayZ than the mechanics of the current game. Everyone will remain phusically and technically equal. But locked areas are planned. There will be underground instances in the standalone game. Players will be able to construct kilometers of underground tunnels and structures. Everyone who enters such instance will not be able to serverhop, because instances are one separate server. There will be also instruments and means to protect your underground vault with some security systems. No details on this all so far. Waiting the standalone game. Group mechanics and clan stuff will be added, but again, no details on how it all be lloking in the visual aspect. I pray to make something to be able to differentiate one player from another. Now it's total twin show. Enemies ran inside your formation and noone can ever guess who is the enemy at this moment. Very ridiculous. In real life you have hundreds of minor detail on a man's outfit, gear, skin, haircut, face etc. even walking and weght to identify a member of your group or a friend from reasonable distance without mistake. But in DayZ, exactly vice versa.

I ususally drop every weapon from my hands and shout "Dont shoot" in English and "не стреляй" (nie strilyay) in Russian to ingame Voice chat and tap it in chat in two languages... Of course if I have time until they kill me. I hope one day someone will not shoot me. :D

Rocket told he hates the current Arma2 inventory system. He is willing to rewrite it from scratch badly. He gave examples of Skyrim visual equipment systems and agreed for Brigade E5\Jagged alliance inventory logics being a good example. So let's hope he has time to rewrite it for the standalone DayZ next year.

Guys, guys. Render to texture will not be added to Arma2. It is added to Arma3 already. So mirrors are possible only in full screen if you know what I mean. It's impossible in this engine to make an object which transmits other camera view, as you described for the mirror. Fullscreen mirror will definitely obscure view and is useless. If DayZ will be ported to Arma3, then I'd be glad to entertain myself on, you know, mirror attached to a knife with a chewing gum to look befind the corner.

I advise you using a third party voice software, mumble, teamspeak, raidcall, skype, whatever. This gives you enormous advantage when playing in group. Be careful with using ingame voice. It attracts zombies when you talk!

There are plenty of english-speaking people around here which you can contact and NOT ANONYMOUSLY team up with and lessen your risks to miniumu while enjoying a good game with good people. Basically, this game gives you a fair choice to play your role, either you help people, or hunt them and kill them. Take out all bandits - it'll melt into pacific boredom ;) Take all friendlies - garbage box packed with dead bodies.

It's the same as asking, do you want better DayZ? :) But good idea dude. Forums are spammed with this idea already, but I really like it so I'll post my approval everytime someone is writing about it.

We need mechanics to be grouped and effectively cooperate, something social to bring up the advantage of group playing (not over the lone wolfs, but over the fact that now grouping up is technically cumbersome for no identification means, clone farm, everyone's alike). Rewards are based upon judgement. Rocket told already, game will never judge your actions, it's core concept of DayZ. Die, survive, murder, save, help. You are rewarded emotionally and morally. You don't need anything from the game at this point.

You mean a player named Hanztrev told you that he caused hacking on server? He can name his character anyway he wants, tell it to you to set up the original innocent Hantzrev. It's not the way to deal with them. We need the admin of this server, and his logs taken to developers. This ways they can hunt him down in the database.

We need a scary freaking lots of diversity and randomness here. We need very big system to build character appearance so that there will be almost no chance to meet two character alike. But knowing the amount of work it will require, knowing how DayZ is developed, I don't think it's realistic to wait for this feature in the next year or two :( Yes, this is willbe the most outstanding feature! Revolutionary. I really hope it will be in DayZ. Isung those gigantic tents to store loot. Dammit, rediculous. In real life you just wrap you stuff in a bag and put it under a log. C'mon, we need at least shovel with a pit to store loot. Defifnitely for it. This feature is about the game engine. Arma2 is not having it. But VBS (which is the base of Arma2) has it already. I can find a video of a soldier blon on mine with his leg flying away if you need. Zombie animations and speed are planned to be revized and optimized. Confirmed. Not sure of slowing them down for their bigger number. But they'll get more "realistic". See 5) It's a matter of time for dev to fix it. But I'm afraid it won't be dealt with until major serve\login\hacking isssues are addressed. It's coming in I guess in half a year from now at best. This is the server difficulty tweaks, but they are not aalowed by DayZ. It only showes the highest arc point of your throw trajectory, not the place where it will precisely land. You can't guess it in real life as well, do you? Minor issue. May be in long term development such subtleties will be added. This idea is spaammed countlessly around the forums. Dev are aware and taking measures. But not unitl ... see 7) for ETA. I don't think Rocket will add thermal imaging in the game. It's too combat\military. But who knows. Very interesitng idea. I'd vote for that. Good point. The social and grouping features are promised to come with standalone DayZ game at the end of the year. They are very numerous if you look more attentively. But most of them are ruined beyond repair. In a postapocalyptic scenario without proper engineering\factory infrastructure you cant seriously think that vahicles will survive at all. As far as crisi continues, vehicles will extinct. Hmm.. duplicate. See 3) YEAH! I can build a deadly trap with a few branches and a rope. It will be triggered when someone walks on the rope and be peirced with sharpened branches. There are plenty of recipies of them on the internet, where you can build one using only your rope and a knife.

As far as I know from Rocket Interviews. Stats are already tracked by DayZ systems. Developer promised to introduce user control panel integrated with the website and the game. You'll be able to manage you character, see all the stats, achievements, manage your clan and many other things. I can predict forumbars will come shortly if the demand will be good.
