This. I am aware that it can be hard for new players to get a grip on learning such a big map and where things spawn but it just takes time and effort on your part to be aware of your surroundings and think logically.

You put a lot of effort into this and you make some good suggestions here. Beans given I like your views on having more 'storytelling' elements to make the map engaging. There have been good changes with the houses now holding some visual clues as to what happened there with blood stains etc but there is so much more that could be done. I look forward to a point in the game's future where every city/town is unique, not just duplicates of identical houses everywhere.

I guess it would depend on two things. 1) have you installed the game yet or just purchased it? 2) does the consumer law in America cover digital goods. For example, in Australia you can always get a refund as long as you haven't opened or damaged the goods in any way and you have proof of purchase. If the legislation supports digital refunds and Steam specify in their terms of service that they do not offer refunds it is irrelevant, legislation trumps store policy hombre. Returns on digital goods are always tricky for the reason of determining what constitutes you accepting/using the product. I would recommend contacting steam support and mention the relevant consumer law (not in a dicky way), just to make it clear that you are aware of your rights as a consumer. Again, this is all if the US legislation covers digital returns. Goodluck Kind Sir

A good read and glad to see you are enjoying the game and with a positive attitude you'll go far. Just remember, when you die after 9+ hours of gameplay, that is not 9 hours lost. Think of all the stories you have from that 9 hours; the thrills, the highs and the lows. This game is amazing for the stories it generates, not the loot you hoard. Beans for you

Why does everyone I run into kill me?

Usually I find you will never come across friendly players because they will avoid situations that could result in K.O.S. I had a friendly character a while back in the mod that lived for 263 days (my god I raged when I died), and I got that far by playing as real to how I would react in real life as I could. I would stake out looting spots thoroughly before going in and spent a lot of time building a small camp stocked with ammo and food. -
My advice would be to ditch Windows 8 if you value your sanity. I'm sure some people like it but I can't stand it, just my opinion. Would also highly recommend getting an SSD, best money you will ever spend

Could make for some intense close quarters encounters. Imagine a stand-off between clans fighting over the loot lasting for hours and hours *drool*

It took me so long to realise that when I would ring a bicycle bell in the the mod and no one replied, it wasn't because they were rude bastards but because it was broken in-game. Ehh maybe they were bastards anyway -

I have always wondered whether I am blessed by the Arma gods, I have never had the frame rate issues everyone else seems to have. The only time I see below 60fps is when I run FRAPS when I will cap it at 30. Specs: Intel i7 3770 Radeon 7850 8GB DDR3 and I run Arma from an external HDD -
Was lucky enough to come across someone combat logging into a server. Was just making my way into elektro near the barn to the NW when a guy spawned right in front of me pissing blood. Naturally I helped the poor fella pass into the next life honourably as he bandaged.

Welcome good sir and goodluck :) -
Welcome to the forums and welcome to DayZ. The feeling of 'gear sweats' never go away. I kind of want to try and hold someone up with an unloaded gun just to see how it goes. I guess it would only work if you had a supreme advantage like they are completely exposed and have a lot to lose. If you ask them to drop everything though they would just give you trouble as losing that much gear is pretty much a death sentence anyway. If someone was to hold me up, unless they just wanted something reasonable like some food or meds, I would give them a fight for it. Even if I die for my troubles, the knowledge that they may bleed out or they attracted the attention of other players with the gunfire, makes me sleep easier.

I've never had any problems running at 60fps for some reason my specs are pretty standard and it runs at 60fps even in cities
