DayZ REALLY needs to add basebuilding or barracading
stielhandgranate replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
The project started in August 2012. Now the game isn't expected to be finished until 2016. On the contrary Arma 3 started development on May 19, 2011 and hit released on September 12, 2013. While the ArmA 3 release was shitty, it featured a new, much larger map, which the dayZ project simply lifted from ArmA 2 and upgraded it and a engine facelift with better weapons ballistics, sound effects and renders. DayZ's original release date is four years late while falling behind it's sister project:http://www.pcgamer.com/dayz-standalone-delay-explained-engine-improvements-detailed/ Terrible argument. You can hold a contractor liable for shitty workmanship or failing to finish a job on time. Early access and developers that depend on them are like a snake oil salesman that sell faulty wares and flee to the next town over before the locals wise up. There is no motivation to complete this project as the gross amount of their profits have already been provided up front, the game has terrible word of mouth, customer support consists of "Chain email 9 server providers help boxes and hope for the best" popularity and is dipping on the steam charts as time goes on and dedicated players begin to move on and less and less new players come in to the fray. Lets not forget the bullshit the players were fed where DayZ was put up on sale while at the same time going up in price so the "sale" was for it's original price tag. -
The "Crazy running speeds" have been standard in ArmA 2 and ArmA 3 and other Bohemia games. The current settings aren't built for Alpha unless you can back that with a source. 140 on a map of this size will make player encounters too common unless you are looking for some Altis life or Team death match game. Its a survival game, you shouldn't be bumping into others every 5 minutes. Like I stated before retarding the walk speed won't address the fact that ground vehicles can cover anywhere on the map in less than 8 minutes. There is literately nothing bad about extending the current map size.

Making players walk slower is a piss poor way to try to make the map "feel" bigger and won't help the issue when people operate vehicles to zip to all the points of interests. They can expand the north and west boundaries by cutting off the south and east water logged boundaries and reallocating the space. Its a shame we'll never see dayz in Altis, that map can feel large and empty with 120 players and had more than enough space for base building if anyone played the first build of breaking point before they ruined it trying to earn the make arma not war contest.

The current map size is a joke. In a zombie apocalypse you shouldn't run into new players every 5 minutes. The consistent implementation of more generic towns has led to less areas off the beaten path and a very limited amount of places where one can set up a base or hideout. The idea of the outside of the map spawning an everlasting amount of trees and hills is a good compromise You can set up a camp far off, but you better bring enough supplies to get back into the map or risk dying out there far from a resupply. .

Lets talk about the Recoil system and stabilization of firearms

That isn't how a suppressor operates at all. In fact the baffles in a suppressor prevent gas pressure from escaping and help the round accelerate and can increase accuracy. -

There are no subsonic rounds in game except for .45 Auto. You can use regular rounds in a suppressor and still quiet the noise from a firearm being discharged. The whole suppressed firearms do less "damage" than non suppressed guns is heavily over exaggerated. -
I would really like to see survivors with mismatched pattern MOLLE gear on their plate carriers.

This game isn't set in Russia. Chernarus was the center of US/NATO/UN intervention. It is common practice to place translated signs in English for personnel using local roads. Seeing how foreign involvement extended to sandbag forts, light armored vehicles and HESCO walled bases, signs at least at major roads and intersections wouldn't be too far fetched. English is the language of trade, Even Air Traffic Control towers and civilian pilots need to be able to speak it. Here have some signs in Russia that have an English translation:

Why do never served people brag about cadet service like it's a major milestone? Being a cadet, that is wearing a wooly pully and some DPM pants on the weekend does not make you a soldier. You have no military experience, do not imply so. Good thing for him in the United States you don't need a license for things like owning a firearm. Did you forget British involvement in the Middle East or Southwest Asia?

Things the SA needs to borrow from the Mod.

Thats rich. If anything the map is too small and needs to be Altis sized. Finding unknown people should be a gift, a rare occurrence that makes people second guess shooting first and consider other options. Not a time to get your call of duty PvP action on. -
This is unsat- Ammocans of this size can carry way more than 120 intermediate rifle cartridges. Q: Dale Gribble how could you know how much an ammo can could carry? A: Good question, Ammocan of same size. And in the next photo we can see 490 M855 5.56 rounds in stripper clips.

Military barrack, have they become 'minor' loot building
stielhandgranate replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
Speaking of military stuff, where have the uniforms gone? I have secured 2 AK-74s,4 PM-73s,1 MP5, a SMERSH vest, 4 high capacity assault vest but not come by one TTsKO uniform or any Gorka uniforms. -

I agree. We should be able to proxy masks out of common items. Like T shirts- Duct tape- Or even shemaghs like in Arma 3-

the problem with dayz: not dank enough
stielhandgranate replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
Never heard anything official on this, wouldn't make sense as day 0 would be society and the government responding to the outbreak, with stuff like electricity, phone lines, the internet and radios still present, not several weeks after when all signs of society and infrastructure are long gone. I think it was overzealous fanboys trying to stop people from calling the infected zombies that pushed this theory.
