Agreed, alternatively you can have a smaller knife, such as the hunting knife, work as a melee weapon in the secondary slot.

Six Updater updated my arma 2 beta, but it still shows up as 94364... only thing that changed was arma2rft.exe. hm

I don't think a starting weapon is necessary at all, but having some sort of melee or shove feature would be nice. This is probably ENTIRELY out of the scope of the ARMA II engine though.

I'd like someone to confirm he's at least alright. It's not like the guy on the last page is a credible source, but if Rocket WAS in the hospital and we were all bitching about the update we would look like real dicks.

Anyone know if the servers went down yesterday? Maybe he tried to backup again and is going to try to update again tomorrow...

I figured he meant when the update would roll out if he missed monday, not that he would make backups of characters etc. I'm not going to say 100% that's not what he meant, but from a developers standpoint, if anything involves an update and you say "Backup" that normally means backing up files/databases before you overwrite them with the update just in case something in the update is wrong and corrupts part of the system.

well it has been toned down... we just need to wait to get the patch ;P

I'm all for people NOT shooting each other in the back, but personally I don't think it's EVER a good idea to arm someone you don't even know. It's one thing to help someone with an epipen and a blood transfusion and a whole other to put a weapon in their hands. :P

I think it's hilarious that morphine cures broken legs. Oh yeah and I wants me me patchesssss. I don't think that, but I tend to die in the middle of nowhere and I find it much easier to respawn and resupply than to crawl until I find a hospital and some morphine. I think it would be nice if a mechanic was introduced that you need to have some sort of weapon and ammunition in order to respawn...

Even if he releases it tomorrow it doesn't mean that's what he meant originally. Either way it doesn't make a difference, he'll release it when it's done.

Now what I gather from this, as since the patch didn't go live on monday (the 25th), it will be tomorow (saturday (the 30th, which is the saturday after monday if you want me to dumb it down for you) which he posted LAST WEEK, on the first post on this thread. edit: I put the quote in red for those with reading difficulties. That was a week ago. Don't post if you don't know what you're talking about. It was posted on FRIDAY the 22nd of june, announcing the update for the following monday, with a backup scheduled for off peak time saturday (30th) if monday went wrong, which clearly from what rocket posted it did. Don't tell me not to post when i'm right, if you have a problem with my post report it, otherwise shut up ok? You KNOW you're right now? I still go with what I said before, which was by backup he meant DATABASE backup. Which means - Backup Database Saturday (23rd), push update Monday (25th).

One question I have here... does he plan on doing ANOTHER backup before the update since so much time has passed?

I read it as Target Date FOR THE UPDATE is Monday, and he's doing a database backup on the previous Saturday. Who knows though, it could mean anything.
