Well anyway, here is the prologue. If anyone is interested in more i can post the first entry. Day Z: A Story of Joe Miller PMC Operator Joe Miller’s personal log. Survivor of day 1 infection, now known as Day Z. Day, unkown. It started as a peace keeping mission lead by the US Marines aboard the USS Khe Sanh. They came, they saw, they kicked Chedaki ass but that didn’t stop the Russians from getting involved. The Chedaki were clever bastards, they bombed Red Square in Moscow and laid blame with the “Rebel Chernarus Defence Force” and that got the Ruskies’ attention. That was where I and the PMC’s got roped into this cluster fuck. When the official militaries start pulling out that is when the private companies step up. They take care of clean up while the real soldiers get to bugger off home or some other shit hole. They tell us that we are looking after important clientele and that we are doing a good thing in the eyes of the world. It’s a load of shit, we know what we signed on for and we knew the risks. Fact is though, the army doesn’t pay all that good no matter where you come from. One thing I've found in common with all the guys in these outfits is that we’re all good at killing. There is always a lot of that kind of work in this business. So I'll make this short and move forward a bit. The US step in, Chedaki get fucked, they bomb the Russians to get them involved and the US decide that it’s game over and pack it up before they end up fighting the RUS. PMC get called in to take the slack and secure the rear for any lagging friendlies and it is rumored that a USMC Force Recon unit left behind gets fucked up with what remains of the CDF. All in all you would see it as everyone loses but the Russians came out of it the best, gaining back a bit of land that they've had their sights on for some time. That leaves us almost at the present but there is still a bit to tell. Now you have to understand that the world at present day is a giant ball of paranoid, sociopathic megalomaniacs with their itchy trigger fingers just waiting to input some nuclear launch codes. So when something like a virus hits, they all think that it’s a biological attack from one of their many enemies and tempers flare. Alliances are made and others broken, you get a massive build-up of military forces on both sides and the civvies are forced to stay close to home for “their own safety”. That set a perfect backdrop for the worst “natural disaster” the world has ever seen. Personally if you ask me I say that there ain't anything natural about it. A virus just springs from nowhere and wipes out 95% of human life on the planet? No this has come from some government lab where it all went wrong. It was first reported in the Middle East some place, near where some of our PMC brother’s where stationed, just waiting for another flash point to spring up. It spread like a grass fire, a bloody sand storm. A plague that left people crazed and unthinking. You kept hearing how people were attacking one another. Biting, punching and kicking, ripping off skin! There were even reports of people actually eating each other in the streets. It started appearing in the major cities next despite the strict quarantine. That’s when you knew shit would never be the same again. After the big cities got hit people started streaming into the country side and small places in their thousands. All of these people, some infected some not, running for their lives from this virus that turned people into flesh hungry animals. Mankind was on the brink of destruction and there was nothing that could be done.
