My clan had a base on green mountain for quite a long time randomly during the night you would hear footsteps in the tower to go up there and find no one there. Also you would hear only one dmr's shots in the woods even when no one else was on the server both these would only happen in the middle of the night.

To be honest i have only be killed by people i didnt see damn snipers :P . While only being fired by one other seen bandit so its up to personal choice. Meeting and teaming up with fellow friendly survivors have helped me many time clearing places or just more guns are better than one at times.But dont just walk up to someone straight away keep an eye on them first see what they are doing is normally a good indicator if your looking at a bandit. Then the first 10 to 15 mins talk to them get to know them and never let your guard down.

Before you step out of a building you check up and down the street for zombies

I am slighty concerned with the we are building the stand alone along side working on the mod.Wont that just split resources also if they are going for a "minecraft" style pricing structure "join up early while we are still building it for a discount". Would it not make sence to put sole focus on the stand alone. Also congrats dayz team :D

You should turn around and stare them out.Like any animal if they believe you are scarier than you then they will not attack.Stand meancing while staring them in their blood soaked eyes making lots of loud intimidating sounds.The zombie will then become fearful of you and walk away for easier pray. Pretty much as the guys said break line of sight then go prone if the zombie doesnt see you he will wander off.Buildings and trees are perfect for you remeber forests are your friend

I have had this issue since i got the game i thought it was something everybody had.If i log out all my stuff reverts to what i had 10 minutes before i log out and typically i normally find good stuff just as i am about to log out. Such a pain walking around with cool stuff so i can save it

So i am wandering around unarmed but with some beans and a starting to get used to day z finally.I see someone walk up to a ridge in front of me with an enfield so i head to them and sneak up behind them.Quickly mentioning saying "friendly and unarmed" the poor guy kinda shits himself while saying "where are you". I say "behind you" in an act of trust or craziness i sit next to him and let him look at me. He looks at me and trusts that if i was a bandit he would be lying on the floor while i loot him.So i ask if i can tag along he says "sure" and i shadow him i mention i am unarmed but he is still happy i tag along.We finally walk into a shed with a hatchet and he trusts me too pick it up while not chopping him up a true survior after my own heart. After hitting a few places and loading up with supplies we sneak across the bottom of the military air port suddenly my friend gets his head sniped off and within an instant i take a shot to the shoulder putting me down.The knock out hour glass turns up and i am sure i am as good as i dead. I watch the bandit walk up and shoot my new found friend in the head just to make sure that alerts an infected who he easily puts down.This happens as i lay on the floor watching he starts to loot the guy i met as i regain conscious.I start to crawl away hoping the bandit does not see me but he has his head to deep in the guys inventory to notice me. As much as it sounds i am not that stupid so i slowly climp to my feet griping my axe with blood covered hands and quiet sneak behind the bandit who is still looting the dead guy.Suddenly he feels the heavy axe cave in the back of his skull he panics trying to drop the inventory as another axe swing slams into him. He fires a few rounds into the ground in a mixture of fear and total confusion as the last words he hears is "do not forget to double tap bitch" and the airfield goes quiet again. I then looted both of them and now have lots of goodies :D there is a lesson some where in that mess learn it

Well i assume you can guess from amount of blood lost from wound,smell and body heat to give you an idea.Ranging from the poor guy having face planted the tarmac a few minutes ago to this guy has been down long enough to attract wildlife.

I was thinking of a way of finding out the time of death of fellow surivors you find in game.As many times i have came across dead bodies wondering how long have they been laying there and if the guys that killed them are still around.Nothing to set in stone like TOD 10.32 but like the longer they have been laying there the more flys around the corspe. If there is a way and this is a noob question please ignore just thought it would be a good idea to be able to guess roughly a persons time of death

Hackers! just finally got my first assault rifle then slowly crawl around the military airport picking up a few supplies where the whole server suddenly gets dropped on my postition in a 5 ft square around me. Everybody is shouting at each other then someone fires off a shot then 40+ people lay waste to each other.
