Nice detailed, laid out guide. Colors are fine for the most part. The beginning had better color formatting than the end, ie. blocks of bright colors aren't gentle on the eyes, maybe keep the awesome colors to the headings and key words. Spoilers are also an idea to help condense and make it easier to find a specific topic (but in-spoiler-text may have issues with browser "find" function). Besides that though, it's a job well done. Hey new players! Need help on dayz? Getting killed over and over again is slightly boring, however constructive it can be. I am offering my knowledge of survival in this apocalypse. I like the whole idea, organize hitpoints to items destroyed... Headshot: any head gear being USED (e.g. binos are stached at waste according to animation). Body shots: Damages Backpack and items in backpack (even any possible weapons inside), and possibly any clothing they are wearing (ghillie, camo, etc.). -->Maybe backpack can be repaired with duck tape? :P -->Can't really see toolbelt and side arm getting damaged -->Primary inventory idk...

So friend and I wandering in elektro, trying to re-gear. Went to last building: north firestation. Has 2 black cars not from dayz, but they dont work. Guy in a ghillie in firestation, pop him in the head w/ my enfield twice for good measure, he was still standing up (o.0). looted him (nothing good). friend went upstairs during this, i followed afterwards. Somehow he missed the cache box full of hacked stuff like holo assault rifles, G36C SD, AS50 w/ thermal, rocket launchers etc. We take some of the "legal" stuff, then i pack a few extra frags from it as well. blow up the box and decided to leave the cars since they wern't enterable...usually dont run into hackers, but I guess there's too many to avoid 'em now :(

anyone needing/want a guardian for protection on dangerous med runs, feel free to PM me your steam name + situation/plan currently dont have much med supplies, but i do enough ammo for any pesky bandits ;)

try to just run as fast as possible through buildings with atleast 2 entrance/exits, that should dump some of the agro. While you're doing that go ahead and look for loot while the zeds walk in the building. after leaving the building stay at a crouch to avoid more agro.

In the huge map of Chernarus there are several different types of terrain from dark, tall, green grass to short, light-yellow/brown grass. To make ghillie suits a little more special and perhaps even to make an "up keep" of sorts: get rid of the current ghillie suit throw in a dull white/grey overall type of clothing (this could be common in residential) in the current ghillie's place throw in some needle and/or string/thread loot (needle infinite uses, thread some # of limited uses. both would be rarer than overalls) and to make a ghillie you need all 3 of these new things, be in whatever terrain you want to be camo'd for, and some required period of time to make your brand new ghillie suit PS: also the ability to take off overall clothing from dead person wearing it would be nice as well

I have been counter sniping north of cherno and elektro, been getting good kills and loot, and dying to a better sniper, and starting all over again. I know there are others who do this, so I figured two sets of eyes and 2 sniper rifles are better than one. Also, if any medics need some help getting back on their feet after being killed, I can speed the process of resuppling and such... If you want to join-up for some fun, PM me.

So my friend and I have all the top gear, and we've been playing for a while(since Apriil-ish). Soon I'll have to stop playing because life just doesn't let up. So we spend about a hour getting stuff together to repair a heli that my friend found in the south of chernarus tonight(obviously spawned there). During which some random hacker came up fixed it (but emptied the fuel with the fixing hack), then my friend shot him. Then we had to kill 2 more players with our L85s who had what I might call "medium" gear level stuff: ALICEs, NVGs, M4A1 CCO and M24 if I remember correctly. We finally put about a quarter of fuel into the heli (approx. 10 jerrys) and I started the engine. It warmed up and just as we left the ground (this is in a valley btw, with trees forcing me to go straight up) someone started shooting at us. I knew I had to get out of there quick, so I titled it to the side and front. BAM half a barrel role not 50m off the ground. Half because I turned back over the same way. Got it up in the air and sped off. Think the heli took about a dozen rounds to the body and was fine. Then we to the NE airfield for fuel/safety/food (I killed a goat :P). Went cruzing around the north, passed up the NW airfield, and went to Zelenogorsk to pick up another friend. Got to the coast and got shot at by a player in Elektro, one of my gunners was able to kill him. We went up north, nobody at Stary Sobor, nobody at the NW airfield aga-- GUNFIRE, NORTH SIDE!! We were shot at, and whoever shot us had an LMG most likely or just good aim. Anyways 2 of us were bleeding, so we fled to bandage and eat. Then went back and nobody shot anymore. Decided to do our own endgame since I won't be getting on as much (unless someone would like an awesome helicopter pilot...[CLANS??] PM if you want a pilot, I just want to do it for the fun of flying, then you can kill me after I land it back your base I dont care) so left gunner tried parashooting out- didn't work, died on impact with the ground :( *RIP Lucien*. Then I took the heli into the air control tower with my right gunner still on board. *RIP getshot & Skirata* So that was my endgame, you might think you can top it but to me, this was a frickin' awesome way to end playing dayz for a while. PS: anybody want some Mountain Dew cans? PM with title "MDew" and we can set up a trade (remember I have multiple L85s, there will be no double crossing) Might post a video on youtube in the future, buts its going to be in horrible quality...until next time....

Looking for experienced players (playing for atleast a month), tactical players, and players who have no problem taking one for the team. Really don't care about age as long as you are mature and are able to play. Skills with weapons should be decent, would really like another sniper. Also would like to know how you could benefit us gear wise (won't take anything, just trying to improve overall gear level of group). Prefer someone who isn't squeemish on killing another player on sight during certain situations. PM me for more details if interested. Edit: US eastern timezone mainly. While being serious and smart about ingame actions my partner and I enjoy this game! We might do some crazy shit, and have some fun. And we are NOT starting a new clan.

When you kill any animal, gut it on its stomach side. When you start gutting, a notification will say you cut # meat steaks. WHILE your character is still doing the animation (after the notification pops up) you should see the gear symbol "gun with circle". Press 'G' during the animation when you see this symbol. Then wait for the animation to finish, (your gear will auto-appear) and manually pick up the meat with the gear pop-up thing.
