"will I be able to play with my other save on most servers and will I have a *special* save for that server?" A private hive works like this, at the moment they don't exist. Your experiencing a 'known Issue' when joining some servers.

I am only speculating but it looks to me like there is a dry lake/dam and canal system in place up north. Not huge, probably just irrigation. Don't have any coordinates just spied while on holiday up that way. Rivers, bridges, canoe's would make life more interesting. Spot of trout fishing to pass the time, -
eat all.. definitely You know when you've been sprinting for quite some time that your going to be wanting to skull a canteen and eat the whole can of spaghetti before or afterward. Thought I'd add that I think its great that we now have our well being to think about (with a lot more to consider to come I assume). It's added a lot to the game in my opinion ..feature for some; annoyance for others etc

I was over generalising and not taking things to seriously. my wild accusation was referring more to 'environmental' factors, so not 'in combat logging', just accepting your fate and getting off that server Cant use a weapon and getting mugged by glitchy infected, going unconcious while they eat you alive is not very entertaining. more commonly known as rage quiting

Best bet is a military area for an m4. Nth west areas or NE airfield, also found one on the wrecked boat up that way

I've found 1P definitely makes navigation more of a challenge. Without seeing half the universe around you, spotting landmarks is a bit trickier. More compass use and finding high ground than when playing in 3P Someone mentioned that you miss the scenery and I guess that's a relevant point. There are servers for both so It's really a non issue -

anti-bandito with a sniper rifle, prone in a gorse bush up yonder scopes another anti banana in the shade of a koombah tree over thur assuming the worst he blows his brains out. meanwhile koombah trees mate gets mugged by real bandits well within range of koombah's covering rifle. shit happens i guess

As far as graphic settings go, If you've a semi decent video card I wouldn't set everything to low just yet. You might find setting everything to low actually slows things down for you. It did for me anyway. Maybe low fps is causing what you think is lag. This thread also helped http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/ I'm lucky if I'm over 35 fps but that's better than the <25 I got out most of the time of the 'box'
