ya, the most people I can expect to encounter on public hives hosted in NZ seems to be <10 at the best of times which is a shame. Not really playing the mod often any more due the lack of potential conflict or care beary cuddly wuddlies ;) Not interested in other variations, they don't grab me the same way DayZ did when public/vanilla was the norm

Used to be completely passive but it was doing my head in and I started hating the game Have a few criteria for KoS, normally retaliate not initiate but Where I see them and to a certain extent their skin. A bandit skinned player sitting on a hospital roof or camping up a hill. I'm assume is up to no good and not even bother engaging through chat first. Not bandit skinned I'll just watch and wait probably get bored and scamper. What I've seen / heard them doing. I can understand killing in self defense but If people around you are dropping like flies its safer to be prepared to KoS . Otherwise I just avoid people, maybe seek out patients if I'm in medic mode or if someones had a crack at me i'll kill / hunt them down for the adrenaline hit.

Stop. If they are bandits you may stay alive but lose your vehicle and gear. If they're not bandits and just lol'n with ya you maybe a dead man anyway. Don't stop and maybe they'll not want to damage the vehicle.. which i doubt but.. if they start firing, drive full tit into wall or whatever and rest in peace knowing that they won't get away with your vehicle without some work to do getting it back on the road. Sounds a bit nurr nurr nurr but bugger it, ruin their day a little :P Sniper's. Some times your just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But Don't run in a predictable pattern or stop until behind solid cover. Stay off ridge lines, don't run around in open fields. Stay away from rooftops, stairwells with windows. Avoid high ground, snipers like sniping other snipers too and high ground is where they'll be looking for them and whoever is looking for the snipers But.. after all the above, shit still happens.. become a sniper and you'll understand snipers p.s rudders are on boats, one d :)

hmm k Blood sitting in a box for days would kill you regardless so lets not get too pickylistic. OP I think vanilla only private hives would be ok. Would be useful for those who want to perhaps try things, learn things or play a little differently once in awhile without it affecting their 'global' character.

The force works in mysterious ways. I think with ARMA you can get carried away a bit considering drop and lead etc because it actually makes a difference but I reckon that sometimes a puff of dust and then compensating is a lot quicker than get out the wind gauge before every shot.. so to speak.

A full one would do the job quite nicely I'd imagine.

Just what ever + hatchet. Prefer something with scope and a bit of range outside city limits. Hardly use a handgun unless I don't have a melee weapon (I'll drop secondary ammo in favor of bandages if I'm low on space). If you keep moving thinking someone has you in their sights it saves your life a lot. Seems unless your stationary quite a few can't hit diddly squat which is why so many camp or go for the sucker punch. If they do have the skills to pay the bills then beans for them. I've still died more often from infected and my own stupidity than pvp though.

Also anyone running RamDisk may get a a 'No disk space error' when updating via commander

Agree. New players are a lot more willing or wanting to team up with someone, but as you say, it places you in a vulnerable state either because they attract unwanted attention, have a different idea about they interact with other players and different goals in 'life'. As in life, you meet friendly people everyday but only a few will be compatible with your personality and in the game world your play style. I seek to meet others much like myself, lone wolves who happen to cross paths occasionally either intentionally for medical purposes or just random encounters. Its a passive engagement then both us make ourselves scarce afterward. I don't feel the need to be surrounded by people in game, or in life for that matter so I guess its no surprise that the people I get along best with are the same. I find that amusing sometimes. Making friends with people who don't need friends.

Now I don't think anyone wants to feel responsible if he stroll over the reality / fantasy line one day and go KoS styles on society just because someones on the Interwebs said he was a full of shit troll. Not that he would.. he seems like a lovely young man... hehe

My way of looking at it too. I don't think I should be able too but I can, so if I get gimped by a glitch I will try and get back if I've got anything of note. As you say sometimes you end up with a better setup along the way back.
