If you want to walk through a town "in peace", use Chemlights. It's quite logical that flares attract a horde of zombies and players. A lightsource will stick out like a sore thumb at 2 AM, whether you're 10 meters or a kilometer away. Chemlights are only visible for short range, so they're your best option.. Either that or go play on a daylight server (or find some NVG's).

Oh, people do find trucks in the middle of nowhere, trust me. Spotting a truck isn't that hard if you have an L85, their wheels glow like a firework. Tents do have a bug that the equipment inside may temporarily disappear until the next restart, however I didn't hear anything about the same happening to vehicles.

Meh, might aswell add to the list: - Putting a Ghillie suit would remove (and sometimes duplicate) your backpack. Drop it before putting it on.

I've been an admin on servers before (various other games). I've seen my share of hackers aswell. I don't have a ban-on-sight policy, but I am very strict when it comes to people breaking rules (there have been cases where I have kicked and banned my own clan members on other games). If I see a guy with a weapon he's not supposed to have, I'll do what I always do when facing hackers, check what I have (in this case - logs) and ban if necessary. Confronting the player is a possibility, sure, but the problem is that hackers will pose as a legit player when confronted. If I see in the logs that someone clearly spawned a weapon, I'm not going to send him a message and wait for his excuses, I'll ban him. If he wants to, he can contact me later. If I get a report by a person I trust that the person is hacking right now, I'm not going to come online and confront him, I'll log into the RCON and ban him. A few years ago, when I was an admin in a community of roughly 12 CoD4 servers, people would constantly send me messages on xfire, complaining about hackers. If the person was a clan member or a person I trust, I would log into AGRCON and ban them straight away, but if the person was some guy I play with sometimes, I'd come online under a false name and spectate.

No, we would not. Because a player who's not a complete and utter retard, would not pick up a weapon he's not supposed to. I've found hacked weapons, I've found obviously hacked vehicles, yet I never touched the hacked in weapons or vehicles.

I'm not taking anyone's ability to play. I'm just keeping them out of 1 server out of thousands.

I know. But personally, I would prefer to ruin one player's experience than leave a hacker online to ruin it for 30 other people.

For all I know, he can be the hacker. If I ask a player why he has a hacked weapon, whether he's a hacker or a legit player, he'll say "I found it" and not "I hacked it".

I'd ban the player off the server. If a player picks up a hacked weapon, for all I care, it becomes his problem.

Was on US234 just now and came across a hacker's location. A Huey heli, 3 bikes and a box with 10 of each weapon in DayZ (and some that aren't), along with all possible loot. On one side, I want to post the location so the admins can take care of it, on the other side, I don't want to give noobs free top-level gear location and a heli. IP's are dynamic in most cases, which is why IP bans on games are useless.

Some servers do ban / kick DC'ers. The problem is actually spotting them. Veteran servers don't have nametags, so good luck finding out who just DC'd infront of you unless you have access to the server logs.

You could've also gone up to the roof. You can still crawl and climb ladders even with broken legs. The roof has the same spawns as inside the hospital, just less spawn points.

Actually. My Mk48 and ammo is legit. Found a bus couple of hours ago on another server, was loaded with Mk 48 and ammo. For some reason when I used up my canteen, it disappeared and turned into another M240 mag, however.
