It's not a problem of how you want to run it, it's a problem of how it will affect other people. If you had a seperate database, you could do anything you want, but in DayZ, the database is shared. How would you feel if someone uses a private server to get the best gear in the game and then come to your server and launch a rocket at your camp or snipe you from a kilometer away? If you just wa t to play with friends, then get a seperate database, but as soon as it affects anyone other than you and your friends, tben no. Again, it's rocket's mod, he decides what you can do with it. I can see why you want all thoae privilages, like putting a password and shit, but it affects other plagers and servers. You say you can decide what to do on your own server, so why do you allow yourself to affect toher servwrs aswell? Sorry for any mistypes, I'm via my phone.

As far as I know, it only has a chance of happening if you're under 9k blood. Which makes sense, you've lost blood, you're weak, you don't have the strength to withstand a zombie attack.

You can't do it all daytime without changing server settings. There's a reason why DayZ has flashlights, Flares, NVG's and Chemlights.

As the above post said, it depends on how comfortable you are and what you do. Military Grade weapons are basically PvP weapons. The Lee Enfield is a great weapon, 1 hit kill within effective range, but it's very slow to fire and very loud, so it's only good against single targets at medium-long range. The CZ550 is also a nice sniper. Zeroing, plenty of ammo.. but it doesn't kill in 1 hit, so you risk your target DCing or shooting you, unlike if you use Anti Material sniper rifles, which are 1HK anywhere in the body. Basically, "civilian grade" weapons are pretty good (especially the Winchester <3), but quite limited when it comes to your most dangerous enemy - players. If you are in close range against a single player with an AKM, you stand a very low chance of living if you miss a single shot with the Enfield.

IMO, getting infected should have a much higher chance (via zombie attacks, getting wounded and etc), but also increased anti biotics spawn chance. I've been playing DayZ for.. maybe a month now, and I have only found 1 pack of antibiotics, and it was on a player I killed. I'm pretty sure that Anti Biotics would be a lot easier to find than Morphine or an Epi Pen IRL.

I had many servers in my life, although for different games. I'm currently making some hosting research to find a good dedicated server to host DayZ on. I do it not because I want to have unlimited power, but because I want to add another server for people to play on, and I want to finally have a server in Israel, where I have yet to see a DayZ server. I'm sure me and all my friends would make good use of a server that actually has normal pings for us. No one's stopping you from building a fortified Cherno, you just had to fight off the players yourself.

When installing through steam: 1 - Install ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA. 2 - Run ArmA 2 first, let it get to the menu, then quit. 3 - Install the Beta & DayZ via Six Launcher. 4 - Overwrite the original ArmA 2 OA .exe with the beta .exe in the Expansions/Beta folder. 5 - Right Click ArmA 2 OA on Steam, Properties, Set Launch Options, Paste this: -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz (You can also add "-world=Chernarus" for quicker map loading of DayZ servers). 6 - Run ArmA 2 OA as Combined Operations (choose CO when running or just right click and "Run Combined Operations"). 7 - Play DayZ and die within your first 10 minutes. Admins are allowed to kick (and even ban) for DCing to avoid death and such.. Rocket has said it's an exploit himself, so it violates DayZ rules.

As long as you keep moving, your temperature should stay steady. I was on a rain server the other day, and since I'm a sniper and I stand still, my temp dropped to 36. Good thing I used a heat pack before I got an infection.

Sure, and all the free loot you could possibly want, gaining and unfair advantage over other players just because you can fork over a few bucks for a server. You will never be allowed to pw lock your server for as long as it's connected to the hive. Deal with it.

He's not limiting the game you paid for. You paid for ArmA, that's all. DayZ is free and you didn't pay a single dollar for it. Feel free to host ArmA 2 on your server without DayZ. DayZ is his creation, it's his copyright, if you want to host it, he decided what you can and cannot do with it, simple as that. It's no more different than the EULA you skip on reading and just press "I agree" every time you install a game or a program, only that this mod comes for free. Have fun. In Minecraft, your server and your inventory doesn't affect other servers. In DayZ it does.

That's also a rather common and big problem lately. Server admins doing whatever they want. It doesn't take more than 60 seconds in the server sections to find people reporting servers for rule breaking, yet none of the devs does anything about it. I'd say we focus on the lesser evil for now, as it's easier to deal with.

I just wish BattleEye would allow Hardware Bans. I'd love to see the hacker that would switch out his hardware just to hack in a game again.

Meh. I live in Israel, where people would outsell their own mothers for an extra buck. Where server hosts sell each Mbps for $3.

The perk you get is the very fact you become a server admin. Things like not being able to put on passwords and such are there for a reason. If you lock your server, nothing stops you from freely looting every location on the map and using the gear on other servers. Nobody's forcing you to host a server, if you don't like the rules - don't be a host.

Oh, please, kind sir. Do tell the 636,390 unique players how "shitty" DayZ (or ArmA) is. Go back to CoD. There are forum sections for asking how to install it properly and there are install guides. Don't cry on the forums without asking first.

The hell are you talking about? The Ti series is great. My friend is running a 560Ti and an i5 and he's maxing out BF3 with ease.
