    You can roll the beta patches back if you're unhappy. Delete the beta folder, restore original exe, install different patch, problem solved. I've done so several times.

    Removing the beta folder and restoring the original .exe will revert his beta patch. He can then manually install any non-1.62 patch. I did so.

    He'll have to recover the original ArmA2OA.exe. Or else the older beta patches will say he already has a newer version and refuse to patch.

    Are you wearing a ghillie suit? It's known to cause this on servers with outdated hive versions.

    I just doubt consoles will be able to handle ArmA 2 (which DayZ runs on) very well. Not to mention the god awful joystick controls (ArmA has waaaay too many buttons than you can fit on a joystick).

    You probably upgraded to the newest beta patch, which most servers don't support yet.

    Well, no worries about that. We came across 2 more crash sites later today, both fresh after server restarts. No more aiming and carefully shooting for me, darlin'. It's spray & pray all the way with my new M249 SAW.

    I was in Elektro, sniper covering my buddies. They were in the general store parking lot and were fighting zombies. I started blasting rounds around them and shouting "Oh shit, you're being fired on!" on Skype. They ran inside and started screaming at me to kill the shooter.

    1.62 is 95168 or something like that. Most servers use 95099 or something like it. I had 95168, but I downgraded so I can play on more servers.

    As far as I've seen people say, you can use ArmA 2 Free, but yes, you do need ArmA 2 either way (free or full). After all, Chernarus is an ArmA 2 map, not an Operation Arrowhead map.

    Ah. He should have no problems, then But really, why spend another $30-40 just to have another character? Just play on non-hive servers.

    On one hand.. It might work, since it's a different CD Key.. On the other hand... Your registry would still have your old CD Key there. You'd probably have to export it from your registry, delete it and then run ArmA 2 from the other account, and then export the other CD key aswell and just import the one you need whenever you want to change an account.

    Make sure your beta patch version matches theirs. The newest beta patch (95168) will prevent you from joining the majority of servers as it's technically 1.62 according to the setup, and most servers are 1.61 (with the 95099 beta patch).

    Most servers write their timezone, which can help you guess if it's day or night. Some server have it reversed, though (e.g it's night on the server when it's day in their timezone).
