This is a great suggestion if you ask me. Why should it be easy? The fun's in the challenge; count trees, take notes, use your compas and count steps. People with good orientational skills will be able to bury and recover their supplies easily. Other survivors should also be able to dig up somebody else's buried goods if they happen to stumble on it. I'd say; add a shovel item and add a "dig" prompt to bury stuff. Add a "dig up loose ground" prompt (like the "fill water" prompt) when people walk over the spot. I think it would be a good and more secure alternative for the tent. But what it gains in security, it should lose in capacity. For example 5 to 10 slots instead of the 50 slots the tent has. Not sure how it should be handled practically though. Maybe serverbased like the tent and a limit of 1 per person? Also maybe have it whiped after the player hasn't been on that particular server for a week?

I think on a well organised clan server this can be realised. With the further introductions of items to fortify and entrench.

I had this with my first startup of DayZ. I redownloaded every file, restarted everything and it seems to have fixed it.

Cool idea! Allthough I would also like it if some corpses persisted like they do now. It's pretty cool to come across bodies, investigating them and getting clues as to what their last moments were like.

That sounds fucked up, and the guy was 33? Good thing when (if) there's female models in Day Z and a scenario like this unfolds you can just shoot people like that in the noodle and go on with your day. -
Food and water being used offline

I really don't have a problem with it since you cannot die when offline, you merely become thirsty and more hungry. Just make sure you have food and water on you, this is no different from when you actually play. -
I don't get why people bother cheating in mp games, and even more so in this game. The joy is in the challenge...

I actually bought it for another mod a few weeks ago, being Project Reality. But I was having a hard time to get into it (I like the BF2 PR more) and wasn't sure I made a right purchase. But along came Day Z. -

It's fine as it is, it's not supposed to be crowded, loneliness is a part of the game. I'd love some new maps in the future though, or maybe an ingame way to travel to other maps.

Simple solution is a 20 to 30 second log off timer. I've seen it used in other MMO's to combat the same pvp problem.

So many zombie experts in this thread :p. Personally I love the "28 days later" style of zombies we have in DayZ alot more then the "classic" slow moving stumbling braindead ones. They wouldn't be half as scary as the current ones. Yes, they are hard to shoot and can be very deadly, which is why you need to try to avoid them if possible. People really underestimate the stealth aspect of this game. Go prone, crawl, use flares to distract etc... Shooting should be your last resort.

No offense, but I hate it how they try to cram the achievement bullshit down into every game that's made these days. The only achievement this game has is survival lenght, and it should stay this way. Any other bullshit achievements will warp players behavior to non immersive achievement whoring. What I would like to see though is lootable skins and maybe some more choices for starting skins.
