  1. I hope they add in the ability for a dog to detect other players and zombies within a certain range. For instance a grumbling sound. Would be a usefull feature instead of just having them as plain attack dogs. Also for hunting it could be usefull, a dog could lead you to prey.
  2. I think a logout timer of at least 30 seconds is perfect. I've seen it used in a few MMO's that have pvp to battle the exact same problem, and it worked like a charm. As for opposing this because of unwanted disconnects due to bad internet and then possibly dieing because of it. I don't think it's not a legitimate concern. It would be a problem indeed, but it would still be a very small issue compared to what the current ALT-F4 situation is. So if we can turn a game breaking problem into merely a small issue (which you can improve yourself) any sane person should support it.
  3. AKA why this sniper rifle is awesome.
  4. When I place the "camping tent" in the editor it isn't deployed. It's merely laying on the ground in a packed state. I can't even pick it up in preview mode. Anyone editor savvy enough to help me with this?
  5. Because rangefinders are so rare in this game and estimating distance with the map can be pretty cumbersome sometimes, mildots are a blessing for anyone who loves to use a sniper rifle in DayZ.

    Perks, Currency and more!

In an apocalyptic setting money would become worthless. It becomes useless paper. Items like alcohol and cigarettes would become the currency because they are heavily sought of and are more or less easy to carry.
  7. Filter on server version, hide full servers and ping below 100 - then I just click the one without looking.

    Freeside Trading Co.

I read on the steam group you'll be doing the first trial run in Balota airfield. So you guys not going for Skalisty Island? Balota airfield seems like a good place to get griefed by freshly spawned people. Not to mention you'll be harassed all the time by bandits because of the high end loot spawning there.
  9. I know this is probably just an ARMA related problem, but I'm wondering if anybody else here has this problem and has managed to solve it. I've already posted on the BIS forum but no luck so far. So basically when I am in the editor when I try to reach the various menus like "units", "groups", "triggers", etc... by either double clicking them or pressing the corresponding "F" keys...nothing happens. Anyone got an idea what is causing this? I'm running the steam version and I'm also using the latest beta patch. Cheers.

    ZED dressing

It rubs the lotion on the skin, or else it gets the hose again...

Bizarre (but funny) Day Z Hacker

    The midget transformation killed me.
  12. There's been some cool ideas floating around as to what purpose generators should serve. Stuff like powering lighting for individual buildings or maybe even whole villages... But I would love to see generators used towards something more practical: fortification against other players. Use the generator to put high voltage on wired fences, making them impossible to dismantle and therefore becoming a valid way of setting up a secure encampement. Take Devil's castle for instance - the gaps in the walls could be filled up with fences and a generator could be setup in the middle. (One could make it so that a generator simply powers up fences within a certain radius) This would be an interesting way to protect your camp even when you are offline. The downside is of course that the generator uses fuel over time, so if you want to have your gear secure when you are offline you'll need to make sure it is filled to the brim. Of course this will be alot easier to manage for organised groups. I'd love to see the generator come in pieces as well. So getting a fully functional generator should require a good ammount of effort. Tell me what you think...
  13. My new weapon of choice.

    I already love the hatchet

I did kill a player with the hatchet yesterday, but it did not happen. Somebody else alledgedly had it happen to him though... Either way it got patched out. It was fun while it lasted.

    Seriously what happened Rocket?

I know this is getting really old, but people should start realising what "Alpha stage" really means. It almost never happens that a game in such an early developement stage is exposed to the public. Hence nobody ever sees the transformation a game goes through in it's infancy. You'd be surprised what alot of your beloved classic titles started out as in their alpha stages. If there's features you don't like, voice it of course, but don't act as if Rocket is driving his project of a cliff. An Alpha is an experimental phase, with drastic choices concerning game mechanics. When these are established the more subtle tweaking will come...aka Beta.

    Examine Dead Bodies

    Examine Dead Bodies

I think this has been the intention all along. The 'unknown' causes is just a placeholder methinks. It just hasn't been implemented yet because of more pressing updates.
  18. Spawning with no weapons lead to my first befriending of a total stranger. Because I was unarmed he could afford it to hear my intentions out. I think the new weaponsless spawning update is completely spot on.
  19. There's alot of Russians.
  20. I'm having the same issue, happened to the 5 servers I joined. Low ping as well. I just updated to 1.7.1.2.
  21. Should there be a black guy or a penis in the second picture somewhere?
  22. If this succeeds, DayZ will be taken to the next level. I'm pretty sure this is what Rocket envisioned. No forced "no pvp" zones, just people organising and pooling their mental and material resources to make things happen! I'm hoping for more DayZ updates towards fortification: baricading doors, (wooden)walls, gates, towers.
