I love the update. I really can't complain about anything. Is the game running a lot smoother for people as well? It is for me!

New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult
d1rty replied to GrassyKnoll's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's my response to your "bad" list: 1. Fix the non-broken glass issue, otherwise this is realistic. 2. Realistic 3. Realistic 4. Boohoo 5. Are trees impenetrable fortresses? 6. Realistic 7. LOVE IT! 8. Because real life has peripheral dots to help you while driving? -
Personally, I would like jumping added, but it's probably because I've been playing Counter-Strike for 10+ years. But really, I think if you made the animation realistically slow and make sure that you can't spam jump as soon as you land, there will be no bunny hopping. Like, after you jump, add a 1-2 second delay before you can jump again.

Change of pace, lucky day and question about items
d1rty posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So, after meticulously playing this game as a survival mod for 2 months, with my final character lasting over a month (25 bandit + 2000 zeds kills) with tents set up all over Chernarus and an extensive arsenal of weapons; my buddy and I decided to take the bandit route ourselves. I dunno, the game got kinda boring. We had to quickly adjust to this style of gameplay, resulting in us dying many times and losing a huge stockpile of our inventory. No biggie, we're having fun hanging out on the coast, which feels weird but new and exciting. Two days ago, both of us are in a tower in Elektro sniping kids trying to loot the two firehouses, when someone starts barreling towards us chucking nades every 10 seconds or so. About 30 nades later, we've both fallen victim to this script kiddie. Whatever, shut it off for the night and pick up tomorrow. The next day we spawn and pick a meeting place, Komarovo. By the time each of us got there, we had gotten a few of our essential items stocked up and we were preparing to head a bit north to get some better weaponry. Almost at the exact moment we met up and made our plans, I hear the unmistakable rumble of a vehicle coming from the distance. Both of us spot it coming from the east and heading straight down the main road towards Koma. Immediately we both setup with our guns pointed at the target. We wait as the driver barrels down the road like a wrecking ball. We setup up right past a bunch of rubble in the road, hoping this slows him down so we can get a good shot on our target. The driver responds to our gunfire by jumping out of the truck and gets swarmed by zeds. I run around the side of a building and finish him off with a few 1866 slugs to the face. We run around like idiots for 10 minutes trying to lure the plethora of zeds aroused by the assault, but finally we're able to loot his body, take his coyote pack and storm off with the offroad truck. We haul ass into the woods for a few minutes and decide to stop and check out the inventory... and my god did we hit the jackpot. Not only is the truck in perfect condition, but it has all the spare parts to keep it running, 12 full jerry cans, an as50, an l85a2, 2 NVG's, 2 Rangefinders, 2 GPS, and much more. Pretty lucky find and I can't believe we took him out with my 1866 and my buddy's m16a2 against his aresnal. After playing with our new toys, we find that both the as50 and the l85a2 not only have NV, but also thermal scopes. I've never seen the thermal scopes before and my first instinct is that they are hacked in. Am I right? Will I have any complications using these guns? Thanks for any help! -
Change of pace, lucky day and question about items

I personally took the L85 and plan to use it, my friend took the AS50 and I know he's gonna have a fit when I tell him I think he should drop it. I know I won't touch the damned thing. I was playing around with the L85 last night, it's definitely a weird scope but I'm learning it. Thanks guys! -

Thanks mate. Any complications using them? I believe I read that it's okay as long as you don't hack them in yourself. -
I've been playing DayZ for about 2 months now and I've gotten quite accustom to it's nuances and tricks, but this is just baffling me. For the first month and a half I found 1 helicopter crash site. Now, in the past 2 weeks, every single time I play I end up finding at least one heli crash site. Yesterday, we found 2 crash sites within 200 meters of each other and the same thing happened twice last week. I've been playing on multiple different servers and having the same thing happen. I'm not complaining, my inventory really appreciates it. I'm just wondering if others are having the same luck? I swear I've found 10 DMR's in the process as well lol.

Thanks, that's really helpful :)

OP, never heard of this before... very odd. This happened to me on the NWA one time. Funny party was that the guy had no NVG, but I did. So he was literally looking in every direction while I'm just unloading 3 DMR mags on his head. In the middle of me unloading the clips, he types "owwwwwwwww" in game lol
-
I do find a FN FAL at a lot of crash sites, but I find DMR's at almost every single one. In the last 2 weeks I have found 2 AS50's, 2 M249's, an M14 AIM, an L85A2 AWS and a slew of M4's and M16's HAHAHAHA, this is the exact reason I never pick up FN FAL's anymore.

I typically find them in the area surround Stary/NWAF or by Gorka/Berezino. Actually, my friend always seems to spot them, which is odd because I have NV and he doesn't and we typically play in night servers. I thought I read somewhere that there were 2 heli crash sites per server. If there are that many, it makes more sense why I'm running into them so much. I've been travelling NW to NE and down to the South almost every time I login.

First off, I'm not complaining, just looking for some insight on this issue. The other day, my friend and I had some really good luck but were only extremely let down at the end of it all. On our way up the west coast towards the NWA, we ended up running into two heli crash sites within 100 yards of each other, which we've never seen before, but we're not complaining. We raided it, set up a tent a decent distance away, raided it again, raided the NWA and at the end of it we had a tent w/ 10 weapons and 50 items, including our first AS50, a M249, a silenced MP5, another DMR, tons of Stanang/DMR clips and our first pair of NVGs. We decided to head to Berezino, setup another tent and load it up w/ med supplies. We set the tent up, unload the as50, m249, mp5 and an m4a1 cco sd - to make room in our inventories for lots of med supplies. We hit Berezino, get back to our tent, load it up and then head back to Berezino to grab more supplies. During this raid, it starts storming really bad (IRL) and since my power goes out a lot, I decided to quit until it stops storming so bad. We come back two hours later and continue on our mission, but when we get to our tent, we find it completely empty. We also find that our 2nd tent on the west side is completely empty as well. Normally I would chalk this up to someone finding our tents and looting them, but here's why I don't think this is what happened: Between the 2 tents were ~13 guns and 80 items, which would take any normal player quite a while to loot and place in another tent. We were only gone for about 2 hours. There was no one on the server during this whole time and when we got back. I can't account for the 2 hours we were not in the server. I've been playing on this particular server for a month and have never seen more than 5 people on at once. I just can't fathom we got looted that hard, with so many items and such distance between the tents. No one followed us, we placed the tents in very discreet locations and also used trees to help hinder other players accessing our tents. Of course I saved the tents every time I loaded more items into them. Anyone come across an issue like this before? Anyone have any suggestions to prevent this from happening? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks

Tell me where you are exactly, in what server and most importantly what kind of gear you have on you :P Seriously though, someone may help you if you ask on the forums. I would if I wasn't at work.

I've done this, but I've also randomly warped over the edge of a building. I had roughly 600 kills on that one :/

Me and my group helped a player
d1rty replied to charley-taylor@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I help people regularly. I base whether I help, hide or shoot on their actions. If I see someone running around like a retard, with no weapon or they look lost, I typically communicate with them and let them know to keep their weapon pointed away and if they need help I would be willing. Large groups I typically hide or run. I shoot if I see someone sniping anywhere around me or if they run up on me. My gut has served me well so far. Last person I helped was bleeding out in a building in Berezino. We bandaged him, gave him a blood transfusion and then a shot of epinephrine. We ran off afterwards yelling, "We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz" while shooting our guns off pulling every zombie in a mile radius chasing after us and then massacred them north of the town. I hope it was a good show for him. -
Thank you for the info, really appreciate it. This more along the lines of my train of thought. I've not had many issues with tents over the course of my play. I have had them glitch and dissapear, but I never cared much until I actually had a great arsenal that fell victim to the buggy nature of this mod. Oh well, at least I know I have some work to do when I get back in game this evening :)

Thank you both for your suggestions. I will try them today when I'm back on! Also, do the same issues arise with vehicle item storage? We tend to blow up vehicles fairly fast lol

Last night a buddy and I had just filled up 2 tents, saved then started heading to our next location when the server was restarted. When we rejoined, our tents were empty :( Spent 4 hours filling them back up, but we found/fixed a truck in the process :)

What Graphics Card Should I Choose?
d1rty replied to Baseballkid9734's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Note: I only read OP's post DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THE 550. I personally had a 460, which is I think the best gpu you can get for your money, and the 560 is a bit better then that. I currently own a Gigabyte 6870 and I love it. I really haven't seen much difference between my 460 and my 6870. TLDR: 550 - absolute shit 560 - great card, used to own 460 6870 - personally own and love it -

what's the best solution to stop server hopping?
d1rty replied to tarquinbb's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree, only because I do have a lot of server issues and end up rifling through a few before I find a well-suited server. LOL that's an epic idea. This is actually a good idea IMO -
I'm having the exact same issues. It takes 20 minutes for me to find a server that all my friends can play on.

What was your most annoying/worst death in DayZ?
d1rty replied to Pureevuls's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I travelled with a friend all the way up north w/ some decent gear. I believe we were at Devil's Castle, I was on on top of the highest "castle" scoping the area out w/ my DMR. All of a sudden I see through my scope a moving world. I am sooooo confused, I right-click to unscope and realize I'm falling off the side of the castle. I fall to the ground and die. My friend goes to loot my body and gets sniped. The only time I honestly thought about quitting the game lol -
I would have shot you or ran to be safe. I can crawl in prone and pretend my friend isn't sitting on a hill w/ a 50cal.

Thanks for the story, been in the same situation a few times - always worth the excitement!
