Zombies are back in charge - good job
Shuriken333 replied to grrinc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lol I love this post. +1 -
I'm all for increased difficulty, but I've had a Z start engaging me from well over 130m away. Before, yes, their LOS was too short, but now they will engage you from the next town over.

Seen my favorite LPer on YouTube playing it. Watched all of his videos and had to play it. http://www.youtube.com/user/MaximusBlack That's the guy who got me into it. He is amazing, and I recommend checking out his channel. P.S. He won King of the Web if that tells you anything about his awesomeness.

Why zombies shouldnt be able to break bones
Shuriken333 replied to felixthedk@vikingkids.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It can be used an as argument... but the morphine part, yes, I agree, Tad bit off from even the slightest medical procedure that was help in being able to use a broken leg again. And as in a tad bit off, I mean that wouldn't ever fix any broken leg. Realism can be used as an argument, but as for the "fun factor" in a video game, if not for this, it would break that. Getting shot? Without proper. specific medical attention, would (realistically) take months/years for a bullet wound to even cause remotely the same functionality of the injured body part, sometimes not at all. Here's an example (you're gonna LOVE this!) I used to be a successful zombie survivor like you... let I took a lee enfield bullet to the knee. Now we are getting into technicalities. You can actually make a game 100% realistic. We have the technology. We have the math. Would that be fun? Hell no. Cram as much realism into a game as you can without destroying the fun factor? You have an excellent game. There are much better ways to deal with it than doing this. Fractures, maybe from running too much or from getting hit, would be great. If not taken care of, there is a % chance for each individual way to get damaged to have your leg broken. Falling - highest %. Getting shot - medium %. Getting hit by a zombie - low %. To keep realism, I think that falling should have a % chance to automatically break your leg, with round fall heights resulting in different %'s. Getting shot in the leg would have an extremely high chance to cause a fracture, while still having a medium % chance to instantly break a leg. Getting hit by a zombie would never break a leg unless fractured. That it completely my opinion on how it should be handled. There's probably better ideas, but that just came from the top of my head. I see where you are going with that, but that's, again, just being a game mechanic, completely devoid of any realism. Maybe a % chance to get knocked over from being so weak from a low blood count (not a KO, just knocked over and having to make your character stand back up), but only getting hit in the head would cause a % chance to proc. Medium - low % chance. -
For those who may have missed this video - A reminder

What would be hilarious is if trying to abort after getting hit a few moments before would result in a window saying "Are you sure you want to abort?" with a picture of a big sledge hammer that has a nice, decorative logo that says "BAN" on it. If you confirm, the Old Spice guy would show up and say "This ban is now diamonds!" -

Why zombies shouldnt be able to break bones
Shuriken333 replied to felixthedk@vikingkids.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Breaking legs seems fine... of course, not as easily, unless you have osteoporosis (which I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be able to sprint for a straight 45 minutes if our character did). Realistically, it's pretty hard to break a human leg, but I'm imaging the zombies having super strength/no pain when hitting. Imagine someone swinging their arm at you as hard as they could. Not necessarily going to hurt that bad... they would probably hurt their arm more than you. I'm not talking about a punch or slap, either, just a "DURRRR" *arm swings*. Well, in my mind, zombies don't feel pain much, if at all. An arm bone hitting a leg bone hard enough is a recipe for broken bones. Of course, as I said, not as easily broken, but it shouldn't be removed. -

How will people lose zombies when they become fast indoors?

Please no. Rocket... please... Nothing. Starting gear is perfect right now. -
I was thinking about that the other day. Would add another aspect of realism. +1

Here we go again... -
In my honest opinion, I must say that the M1911 is the best sidearm. I only ever use my sidearm to kill zombies, my primary to fight other survivors. I have tried every single sidearm. I'd say the M9 SD is the best, if not for it's extreme rarity (even the mags are rare as shit), but that's the only one I've come to conclusion with that'd place 2nd in my book. Even the PDW is outmatched imo. I hope we get more diverse sidearms... maybe a pistol with an optic on it. What are your opinions on sidearms?
-
Yes, that's how I feel. We have plenty of primary weapons. I'm hoping for more sidearms.

I seen someone suggest that they should be extremely stupid when it comes to them losing sight of you. That seems like a good idea, like if you run inside a building, they pause for a second, then attempt to search for you. It would be awesome if we could have tables and stuff to crawl under so the LOS is lost, but sound would still be a concern. In my honest opinion, this game has been intelligently created thus far. We just need to be patient and deal with what we have now. In the future, I see a new patch coming where everyone gets completely power-stomped by a horde of zeds, essentially resetting everyone, but a new patch will fix that. That seems like the cycle of a patch. "FFFFUUUUUU NEW PATCH (did this) AND I DIED." *Fixed over the next few days* -
Oh god I'm vomiting all over myself. :(

[1] It's not too rare, but the M1911 is by far a hell of a lot more common and powerful, same with mags. [2] Aye, it does. One shot, one kill. [3] With the current lineup of sidearms, I'd rather take the M1911 and just blast through zombies with 1 shot on each. I don't really want to take the few extra seconds to aim for the head, while some person is probably running up to loot the building I'm in or after my first shot goes off, somebody goes-a-huntin' for my sorry ass. [4] Pretty much #3 [5] 17/3 = 5.666... 7/1 = 7 lol. In a critical situation, those extra 2 zombies could be the difference between breaking a leg/going below 9k blood and getting knocked out/getting knocked out/etc. [6] I never use the flashlight. I've been killed in pitch black twice from using it and have killed at least 10 people who were using their flashlight at night. [7] But the M1911 and revolver have far more common ammo and can share ammo between eachother. [8] The iron sights are, excuse me, completely dick. It seems inaccurate as hell, and I'm talking about ~10m-~20m range.

I think the real reason why everybody is tantalizing OP (including myself) is because everyone has lost a lot of valuable loot and/or vehicles in the game. It's still in Alpha. He's raging. You're raging. I've raged. We've all raged. That's why this game is great: it forces emotion because of the high stress situations. It is, literally, the perfect video game. Of course, there are bugs, exploits and hacks going around, but everybody knows about them. In the future, we will have the perfect community and a flawless (or near flawless) game. As of now, just get used to the feelings this game instills when you're playing this and just remember not to freak out or get pissed off over losing stuff. When the game is finished and officially released, you'll be part of an elite group of people that will trample newfags that will be like "ZOMG HE KILLD MEH FO NO RAISIN. WHAT ZE FOOK?" TL;DR - Relax. You'll lose everything eventually, especially when the game is officially done. (Notice my use of the term "game" instead of "mod")

Dear Rocket, You succeeded

I do the same thing. Spend 8-12 hours on one character, just to die in a careless fashion when I could have easily prevented my death. For example, there have been at least 2 occasions where I had the jump on a player. Instead of aiming and blowing their eyeball through their skull, I try to run away instead, so they may keep living their current life and I can live mine. Nope. They see me 3 seconds later and blow me away. Valuable lesson learned: Fuck the world. Other time have been just shooting zombies in the middle of a popular city, thinking "If anyone hears me, I'll just run!" Doesn't work as intended when they have an automatic rifle. -
