Key theft and hacks, is it safe?
vandrel replied to Skullet~Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's a lot of places to go to for info on decrypting GUID's to HEX which in turn is a 16-32 character coded CD key. All it takes is someone with no life away from home and a few weeks and that'll be that. They don't even need the actual CD key out of the GUID, just the HEX and regedit will update the rest of the entries. Thankfully this hasn't been done yet, that we know of, but it's not impossible. There's nothing unique about BE GUID's, they are just GUID's for a series of numbers. Algorithms are not impossible to figure out, it has been done on a lot of other games by people with a lot of time on their hands. -
Looking at all the YouTube videos floating around it's hard to trust people. You give them an axe and next thing you know they are hacking away at you to take your gear. Thus, they will KOS

This is only one mod keep in mind. The larger game of ArmA series carries a lot of mods and some can be quite fun. This strong presence of hacking hasn't been seen in ArmA to this magnitude, ever really. You can bet that almost all of the regular ArmA series mod servers (non-DayZ) are ghost towns for hackers cause they all live here most of the time. Don't give up on ArmA And, there's always WarZ when it comes around. Cheers

We got 20 RANDOM people in ELEKTRO to form a group

Nice video, don't see that very often. -
See through what exactly? The fact that no one in CBL can prove if submitted logs are valid? That a GUID wasn't replaced just to get someone banned? Christ you are thick.

You missed the point of the examples there... kiddo (and I'm flattered you wondered all the way to my profile to see my listed age). I wasn't trying to test your scripting knowledge, else I would have really posted some complex stuff to decrypt. The point of that was to show you just how easy it is to send in ANYTHING and all I have to do is change a GUID. Who's to say YOU don't do that... or the next guy or the next guy or the next guy? The fact is that this is all based on the honor system. My direct question to you was not if you could tell me what looks like a cheat but rather to tell me how you could prove that those names/GUID's were not altered, and quite simply....you can't. Time stamps don't matter. None of that crap matters. All it takes is a quick change of a GUID and player name (hell, player name doesn't even really matter) and ther you have it. Ok, keep telling yourself that when one day your GUID ends up on the list... cause that could never happen right? The fact that you don't validate anything at all is more then enough of a reason to avoid servers "Hosted by Overclock.net". I woudn't want my GUID or my son's GUID to wind up in your pool of blind submits. Again, no thanks. You keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep doing what I'm doing. It's clear that you are happy and content with your blind methods.

HIVE, right, and what do most script kids do? 1) setPos 2) addWeapon / addMagazine 3) Set skins and model classes That'd knock out the majority of them right there. So in your mind it's better to just have a system that relies on logs that cannot be proved to be true or false from server admins that you cannot verify if they are indeed admins, then to have this cross checked with the HIVE data? Sure, you wouldn't be able to reference, say, someone who performs a setPos for everyone on a server for either falling death or just setDamage but otherwise most cheaters like to teleport around and kill people or change their inventory out frequently. This in my book is a pretty solid set of evidence more over some text log that Joe Shmoe could have sent in on a whim. Very rarely will you find a scripter who plans to spawn in at Kamenka and walk to Cherno before hacking the server.

Did Anyone Else Suffer Global Ban Waves?
vandrel replied to iFaymous's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
BattleEye does have hickups every now and then so it's not entirely impossible that you were banned in error. They collect a lot of data on their end for this sort of stuff and will surely be able to decrypt any sort of wrong doing or mistake that may have happened. The only thing is it could take days for a response and in most cases you may never get a response. It's not the best support system but they will for sure get your message. When/how they respond is the only question. -
The same goes both ways there. If this is not being done in conjunction with the HIVE then it's all based on he said/she said with text doc logs that may/may not be altered..... you don't know. I'm happy that in your other post you said there's a tier strike system in place but the ball is in your court on how well that really works out. A lot of power sitting in the hands of other players who could potentially cause griefing to others. Again, I'm not effected by this but if I were in the shoes of someone who was due to some group of kids who got upset and decided to collaberate to get my GUID added to the list, I'd be upset too. I don't know you or your affiliation with DayZ or how your forum groups work but this should be on the HIVE level only, not something that's open to Little basement deweller Billy Bob who rages everytime he dies in DayZ on his own server.

I understand quite clearly. What would prevent, say, an entire clan of butt hurt little 16 year olds submitting a slew of falsified logs just to get a specific person banned? All they'd have to do is claim to be admin on "XYZ" server and that apparently meets your criteria, and I suppose as you say even automation. How do you verify if someone is indeed a server admin? You didn't waste your time because, again, you can't answer the questions. A fool out of me? heh, your comment on "badly forged script.txt logs" says a lot about you. I'll give you a hint there kiddo, those were a direct copy/paste from a server hosted by Multiplay, all I did was change the GUID's and a few classnames. You've missed the point entirely, again. I don't need helping, I'm not in need of help.... I'm a helper, it's what I do for a living. If you think I'm reaching out for help from you or anyone else then you clearly do not read anything at all, much like the blind reporting system you submit your data to. You even said yourself you don't validate, you simply submit based on questionable activity.

Head over to the BattleEye website and ping the support contact. Chances are you'll get fixed up in no time so long as there's no malicious entries detected. -
Yes yes yes..... stay away from the rocks! I've lost many survivor buddies to rocks.

Actually there is more fail in your post then what's been seen before. You can simply revert back to my previous response to you that you completely chose to ignore since you couldn't answer my questions. Infact your main response was simply "You are ranting", when infact I'm simply pointing out the flaws in your little player-driven system that is an attempt to police other players (customers policing customers). http://dayzmod.com/f..._40#entry754307 > Incase you forgot Once you've successfully managed to answer my "tough questions" then you can have a leg to stand on but until then you and the rest of the CBL cronies are no better then the script kids. Lastly, WHO exactly at Bohemia is doing this "flagging" for you? Bohemia as a company is not supporting this little "CBL" project, it's completely end-user managed and supported. Until CBL is included in a release build then it's simply not supported and quite frankly never will be. None of this banning crap is done by Bohemia, it's all BattleEye driven and managed, so to say that we are flagging your stuff is completely false. Again, this sort of thing has no business being under you or any other player (end-user)'s control. It's something that should be managed by DayZ staff on a database level and not by kids with dedicated servers who want to swing ban hammers around like they are Caesar. Furthermore, I refrain from playing on CBL servers as I have no desire for my GUID to end up on "the list" because some snot nosed little kid with his dedicated server paid or by his mom gets upset that I shot him in the face from 800 meters away with a .50 Cal and took his LEET gear. No thanks. And just one last time incase you forgot..... http://dayzmod.com/f..._40#entry754307 The CBL cronies have no ties to the DayZ mod, project or staff. It's 100% driven by other players like you and anyone else out there who owns the game or has a server. End-users, period. They do not have access to the HIVE and thus cannot validate appropriately, only take a stab in the dark and cross their fingers.
