Thanks, man! If you have any suggestions for videos you'd like to see (DayZ related or otherwise), let me know.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

There's no problem implementing the LOS system with vehicles other than the fact that if you're in a tank, your LOS will be cut off in every direction, so everyone will be invisible when you're in third-person. The problem I mentioned in the video is with disabling third-person in vehicles via a loop that uses a scripting command (which only works properly on infantry units, unfortunately) to switch the player's perspective. I don't think this is really relevant, though, because I'm sure that if Rocket wanted to disable third-person in vehicles, he wouldn't need to script it.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

I just thought I'd stop by and leave the link to the video showcase of my ArmA 3 mod, The Fourth Wall. Everyone has been linking to that 2017 dev blog which briefly demonstrates my mod, which is cool and all, but I made a pretty long video showcase for The Fourth Wall itself which goes over the mod in detail. The goal of The Fourth Wall is to leave all of the great things about third-person in the game (awareness of one's self and immediate surroundings) and remove any exploits that third-person might bring (such as looking over a wall that your character can't physically see over). There are some problems when it comes to walking by fences, bushes, thin poles, etc. where units on the other side will flicker. Also, if you're behind a really thin object, it is possible that you will be able to see part of a unit when in first-person, but when you switch to third, they will be invisible because you can't see the right part of them (which is their head, or more specifically, their eye position). These problems can break immersion, but any situation where these problems could become apparent is a situation where you should be in first-person. There are also some problems with how units at range are affected by the mod, but I don't really feel like going into that right now. I talk about it toward the end of the video, though, if you are interested. Skip to 3:40 if you don't want to watch the intro.

How to make your character stop moaning...

Logging out and then back in always fixes it for me.

    Backpack Loot Fix

Thanks, guys. I'm sure this won't even be a problem in the standalone with the new loot spawn system, but yeah, thought it was worth mentioning. I'm making a Hunger Games/Battle Royale mod.

    Backpack Loot Fix

So...I'm making my own small mod right now, and I've discovered that if you spawn backpacks standing up, you don't have that problem where you have to pick up all the loot around the backpack before you can interact with it. Here are some images of a backpack standing up, in case you don't understand what I mean...or something... http://i.imgur.com/AzxNI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1CX1X.jpg http://i.imgur.com/o7VH7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r5cdt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jcJFG.jpg And here's a video demonstrating the benefit of making the backpacks stand upright.
  8. Looking for people who aren't assholes. Tactical-ish gameplay, no shooting unarmed people or other survivors who aren't a direct threat. Must have a mic and be mature. Add me on Skype: Outlawled

My Skype is Outlawled. I sent you a message, but I thought I'd post here, too, for good measure.
  10. At it's core, DayZ is a survival game. The only objective the game gives you is to survive. You can do whatever you want while you're surviving, but your main goal is still just surviving. So you don't need to kill anyone unless they're a direct threat to your person. The point I'm making is that killing people in DayZ, much like in real life, is fucked up. To a lesser degree, yes, but it's still fucked up. I realize you don't care if the OP sits on a hill and kills newly spawned players, what I'm saying is that that's the problem. You don't care about anyone else's enjoyment. You are a cunt. I'm not saying they need to get rid of bandits, I'm not saying you guys have to stop killing everyone because it's against the rules, I'm saying that you are all cunts. That's all I ever wanted to get across. You are a cunt. You are a cunt now, and you will forever be a cunt. Because if you need someone to explain to you why it's wrong to do something at the expense of another human being, you are a lost cause. I never said anything about bandits in my other post, by the way. Getting 100 murders and then posting a screenshot of your "achievement" is not being a bandit. Banditry is killing someone for their food/water/gear or just plain robbing them (because you don't actually need to kill someone to rob them). And I don't hate you assholes, either. If it wasn't for you, I'd have no one to hunt. See, I'm not an asshole. I don't kill people that are minding their own business trying to play the game. I kill cunts who don't understand that their actions affect other people.
  11. The difference between DayZ and BF3 is that killing people is the objective in BF3. It is a sport. You are competing against each other. If you want to make the argument that killing someone in BF3 is ruining their fun, then, essentially, everyone is trying to ruin everyone else's fun who isn't on their team. And everyone who is playing the game has consented to this. There's nothing wrong with ruining someone else's fun when they're trying to ruin yours. It's like...self-enjoyment-defense. I would equate needlessly murdering people in DayZ to teamkilling in BF3. The objective in BF3 is to kill your opponents, but (in hardcore mode, at least) you can kill your teammates. This isn't what you're supposed to do, yet you have the option to do it. The objective in DayZ (to my knowledge, at least) is to survive, but you can kill people that aren't a threat to you. This isn't what you're supposed to do, yet you have the option to do it. Yes, it's a sandbox game. You can do whatever you want. That doesn't mean you should kill people, though, and it certainly doesn't mean it's okay. The fact that you can do something is not an excuse for doing it.
  12. OP's definition of fun is "ruining other people's fun." That's what's wrong with it. That's why he's judging OP.

    Hacks on US114 Kansas

Haha. It's funny how people remember things differently. I really regret not recording that whole thing, but whatever. Warning: Lots of text below. broimfriendly said he was in need of morphine at the big red warehouse in Lopatino. Seeing as how I was at the NWAF, I thought I'd go help out. A guy named Phorcys also said he'd come help, not sure where he was coming from, though. As I approached the town, I noticed there were no zombies. I instantly realized broimfriendly was trying to lure me into a trap. So I scanned the hills and saw zombies spawning by the deer stand north of Lopatino. I was 500m away, so I knew someone was up there. Whoever it was had an excellent vantage point on the warehouse, too. I took my bike and circled around the south side of the town to approach the hill from the west. From a few hundred meters out, I was unable to spot whoever was on the hill, so I decided to go search the hill on foot. As I was slowly walking around the hill searching for the sniper, I saw a white offroad truck. In an attempt to get the sniper out of his hole, I got in the truck and drove it a few hundred meters to the west, and then parked it in some trees. I ran down a bit south so I could watch the hill from afar. Then I waited. Sure enough, after about 30 seconds, I saw broimfriendly (the server has nameplates) running west along the hill. As I haven't fired my AS50 at many moving targets, I decided to wait until he stopped running to shoot so as to not give away my position/give him a chance to disconnect. Unfortunately, there were a lot of trees, and I never actually saw him sitting still. I did however see that he had an AS50, and was very much not in need of morphine. After a few minutes, I saw him running back to his sniper spot. I still had no clean shot, so I decided to go up to the hill and kill him up close. Just a few seconds later, I heard an AS50 shot and saw that Phorcys was killed. broimfriendly, still pretending to need morphine, said he started crawling up the road that goes north out of Lopatino. Still pretending I thought he needed morphine, I told him I was in the field just north of the hill (that he was sniping from) and that he should crawl to me. After a bit of no communicating, he then said he was by a bus. He marked the bus on the map. It was on the road going west out of Lopatino, right by where I parked the offroad truck (which was no longer there). I wasn't sure if broimfriendly had found his truck, driven away and was just trolling me now, or if he parked it somewhere nearby and was still trying to lure me into a trap and kill me. I searched every possible place that he could have been sniping from and didn't see him. I told him that I was standing next to the bus and didn't see him, and was getting upset 'cause I felt like he was lying about needing morphine. He said he was in a bush nearby and that I should hold on, he was gonna crawl out to me. I was a bit south and slightly west of the bus when the offroad truck drove by it. Heli0n (or however you spell your name), which is the OP's in-game name, was driving the truck. I didn't know if he had a passenger or not. I asked if he was friendly, he said yes. He kept driving down the road and then stopped a few hundred meters from the bus. I heard the engine turn off and a car door open and close. Not sure if he was picking up broimfriendly or what, but then he started driving back towards the bus. I didn't shoot because at this point I wasn't sure if he had just found the truck and was honestly trying to help or if he was broimfriendly's boyfriend and, as such, was also trying to kill me. He said that he had just picked up broimfriendly down the road, so I told him that if he had broimfriendly in the truck, he could just give him morphine and my services were no longer needed. OP/Heli0n said that he didn't have morphine, and he never addressed the fact that broimfriendly didn't actually need morphine. That coupled with the fact that he had found broimfriendly and hadn't been shot told me that they were partners. I told them that I was at the bus, so they should come over, and I'd give broimfriendly morphine. With my AS50, I fired 3 quick shots through the windshield of the truck hitting the driver first and then the passenger. Almost instantly, the OP disconnected and the truck, along with both of their bodies, disappeared. I saw the OP's body fall out of the truck right before he disconnected, though. He had a ghillie suit and an AS50. Who has a ghillie suit, an AS50, and an offroad truck but no morphine? OP rejoined the server right after he disconnected and started spouting off his bullshit about me killing him while he was trying to help. broimfriendly also kept pretending like I was the bad guy. The hacker thing is new, though. TL;DR, OP is a liar and a D/Cer to boot. Edit: Also, when I killed OP and broimfriendly, they were in a field north of the bus going 30 - 40km/h driving right towards me. I was in a small treeline.

Willing to trade X for DMR

I'll do it for a ghillie suit, camo clothing, or an M4A1 Holo.

    Fun with Scripting

Because he's the hero DayZ deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll flame him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero; he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight.
