What would YOU like to see in Standalone?
smore98 replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You sure you aren't talking about that damned bench in the southern Barracks? Oh well, i'm hoping for a true barricading system. None of this wire fence and sandbag non-sense. Something that can truly deter and impede of the zombies flailing at your, hoping to take a nice bite out of your mass. -
You can get infected from being shot?
smore98 replied to INickeragua's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If this is the case, it might be an interesting discovery, or a really convenient screw-up. That might add a bit more distress in the case of getting anti-biotics. -
Well, it isn't their fault for getting their names slapped onto a can. They technically aren't the ones that made the models, perhaps the idea, but just as a joke. If you were to complain about it, complain about it to the one who added them in. Besides, with the possibility that standalone won't be having our loved brands of beans and soda, you might as well substitute something that adds comedic value to the game. I didn't think a custom food item would break the game immersion completely...

It's quite ironic that the game may include the long awaited fecal waste. My brother actually asked me if the game let you take a crap, and after discovering this... ...Eeyup.

The game is modern, but I don't think it's that modern. Wouldn't it be much more stressing to have a pistol that can clear out that occasional zombie, rather than one that has 4 extra bullets. The Makarov PM is a relic to this game, and any replacement can never fill in the hole reserved for my bullet.

M107 Barrett .50 cal getting banned everywhere..
smore98 replied to SteamyBeans's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Perhaps it is for the best to remove these Anti-Material rifles. Even though they are very fun additions to the game, why not just play regular ArmA? There is so much to blow up with AS50s and M107s! If you want to be a bandit or cold-blooded murder in DayZ, grab your trusty hatchet and swing it like a man! -
Morning (Fanfic goodness)
smore98 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well Fan-fic has been popping up recently now hasn't it!? Anyway, fabulous story, friend. -
What's the weirdest thing that's happened to you in DayZ?
smore98 replied to Holograph's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This one was iconic and memorable for me. Back when the Brony Meet-up was still in effect, I had joined in on the fun. We were going to get a party bus in the server and get the meet-up underway. So we eventually find a bus, we are told to meet in Cherno to get picked up. Most of us arrive as the bus comes and picks us up. However, I went unconscious just as I was about to enter the bus. I voiced out the situation, and a couple of guys came out to get me up and ready. Few seconds later... ...the bus exploded and killed almost everyone. If I remember correctly, a sniper with an AS50 was in the vicinity and most likely blew out bus to hell. He was eliminated shortly-thereafter. That one event got me knowing that in DayZ, each run is a wild ride. -
Seen one. Used one. Bugged one. Broke legs on one. And broke legs on my own.

And I am Charles Manson. There was my poem, HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. ...sorry...

I agree, there has been break-ins in the Balota Buddies server, but those are exceptionally rare. For the best experience, it is recommended to find White-listed servers or maybe a server with Gotcha! antihack, though I don't think it is the most efficient hack fail-safe in DayZ.

God dammit I am late again... ...and yes, false positive. Be sure to download from the source here on forums.

My my, I rather enjoy this. It reminds me of Apocalypse Z in some cases. I may recommend though that this does have a bit of continuity holes in it that seems a bit strange, but the overall journalism part was executed well. I will continue looking into it!

The Reason your a Hero/Bandit?
smore98 replied to Raider (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am neither a bandit nor a hero. I am a survivor. I am a LAMOE. -
...to classify the game as to "hate" you would be invalid. The game offers a fair chance for everyone who has the experience, and for those who don't. The game doesn't have physical feelings to give you a true opinion about yourself. ...or was this being said figuratively? Join a private or white-listed hive, friend. Perhaps you will have better experience then.

What is the problem of Dayz?
smore98 replied to ShokeR (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
An obvious pest within this revolutionary game is the considerable amount of hackers that plague it's inner coding and the atmosphere that the developers have... developed. A considerable problem, but one that comes with obvious reason, is bugs (alpha, dur). But this is a minor problem in the least, as it only affects those who go all the way when it comes to the sandbox extent of Arma/DayZ. Bandits I do not count as a problem to be perfectly honest. They are simply an obstacle that all players have to face in order to SURVIVE. In any apocalyptic or catastrophic event, several short-sighted individuals will go down the route of banditry, theft, and even murder to get the essentials in order to survive. I believe Rocket made this game to box you in an area of unfamiliarity, surrounded by people that you don't know are a threat until you are at the mercy of the barrel of a gun. The emotional and moral purposes of DayZ are outfitted well, if not established flawlessly, as it doesn't require coding to have human moral dilemmas. -
Dammnit, beat me to it...

Now, I'm gonna say the same thing I have been saying about this patch ever since it's release: It NEEDS a hot-fix for bugs. The entire zombie spawn situation is certainly irritating, but if you are to shoot a firearm in the middle of a blasted city: It's a top rule of zombie survival to ALWAYS be silent within a city, especially in DayZ. Though I am not a fan of the path-finding glitches or the walk-through bugs, I am certainly liking the idea RAZOR has given us. All I ask is a hot-fix for bug fixes, perhaps a few tweaks, but other than that, this can be a solid update.

Challenge Accepted, Mr. Crunch. See you on the field, mate.
-
If I were to come across you, I would certainly aim my Makarov into your face and blast your brains across the ground. Although it looks like you mean well, your current attire and armament isn't capable of giving you too many positive reactions. If anything, go for the hero skin, then I might give you the benefit of the doubt.

How would DayZ be on the Arma III engine?
smore98 replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
With the new engine, how will the new implementation effect the overall gameplay experience featured? No, the standalone will not exactly be running on ArmA III's engine, but rather developing it's own. If I read correctly, it's new engine is to significantly improve performance of lower grade PC's from the transfer of the current engine to the new one, while also living up to ArmA's rather appealing graphics. Whatever they do with this new engine, let's hope our lower PC brothers and sisters will be suited up for the new engine, and the new challenge. -
Well, I think this has been answered. ...MOTIVATIONAL POST.
-
The new patch is NOT too difficult, rather something that needs a full hot-fix to curve around the pot-holes in it's release. Next, if there were to be a true zombie-apocalypse, nobody with their right mind would shoot a fire-arm in a city/urban area. Silencers are your friend. This patch was created to allow for a more realistic and more suspenseful experience through DayZ. I am actually happy zombies are a THREAT, though I am not a big fan of some of the spawn-bugs I see from them. Like I said, a hot-fix and some experience later, it's going to feel like a DayZ once more, except much more threatening.

Don't be so short-sighted. To OP: It is unfortunate that the official collapse of Public servers has finally happened, but for the sake of the safety of players, private and white-listed hives allowed for a more fluid and peaceful game-play (one that I am not too big of a fan of). I would suggest the Balota Buddies, but since you are looking for Vanilla servers, I wish you luck on your journey.

Gutting animal, agro everything, trough walls, aka everything inside 200m+ radius
smore98 replied to gernia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They already implemented it, you just don't hear it :D
