Yes You need to find yourself a dedicated server that works for you, just like on all games with dedicated servers you will have good ones, and you will have bad ones. The dedicated server system works best because it frees the developers the trouble of managing servers but it also allows for a better way to connect with one another, instead of being thrown into a random instance.

I also want to mention that Defiance is the poorest excuse for an "MMO" in existence. I racked up atleast 48 hours of gameplay and within those 48 hours I spent at least 3 trying to team up with people. NOT ONCE did I get a single response from anyone... This, I presume is because of the way the servers pair up players, I find myself among a community of people who treat the game like it is single player and everyone around them is an AI, with dedicated server you see the development of communities which add to the social aspects of the game. It is very difficult to develop a good community in a game when you are randomly placed in instances with different people every time you log on. The server system on Defiance makes it far too difficult to meet up with your friends.

No. They had it "working" with server crashes daily. I wonder why that was... Maybe it was because a console can't handle a game like that and they made one shitty engine, with a game that gets bland as f@ after 4 hours of gameplay. (The TV series is COMPLETE garbage btw) Why does it seem like every post you make on the forums is a topic in the form of a wall-of-text. Thanks for the summary at the top.
