    Increased threat posed by zombies...

    It is very difficult for the developers to make the zombies "smarter" on the Arma 2 engine. One thing they showed in one of the development videos, was the new pathfinding system in stand alone, you will no longer have zombies running past you to reach a location you stood a few seconds ago. At this point, they only thing they can do to make the zombies pose more of a threat would be to increase the damage.

    You by the DayZ stand alone in alpha, you get it at a reduced price, and the beta/final product are like (free) updates for you.
