Remove shaking from sickness/low body temp
wolfstriked replied to Barronism's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I love it and HOPE that Rocket adds the shaking to 3rd person view also. Its there to annoy and make you feel sick so you fix it. -
Shacktac makes all weapons easy to handle.I think sniper and longer assault rifles should be sticky and the CQB weapons have this addon.

Your opinion on scarcer food and harsher temperatures.
wolfstriked replied to xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am nicely geared up with warm clothes,M4A3 cco,6 magazines, compass, matches but also once again 5 cans of beans w/5 cans of soda. And once I finally found the warm clothes I feel on the edge of being bored.Yet I do know how to fix this problem....just throw all my food and soda away and in 1/2 hour I will be fully immersed again. But the problem is I do not have a canteen and animals are hard to find at times. If I do throw out all my supplies then I will likely die and lose what I worked all day to achieve.Gonna do it anyway as I like the scavenging to survive feeling. Frost-wolf,yeah it kinda throws realism out the window when places have 3 riles laying on floor.I think a way to fix this is to put downed soldiers with the weapons laying next to them to signal that its not just massive amounts of weapons everywhere. -
Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
wolfstriked replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I do not know how the new UI will look like and feel that the devs should let us in on what they are doing. The reason is that many opinions makes for a superior product. From major things like functionality to less important stuff like the actual look of the UI. -
I am all for it as it would force players to farm hospitals like junkies and I think its coming in SA.

wolfstriked replied to xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I disagree,I am in love with what Sumrak has done so far.The island is full of military bases and you would expect them to have alot of weapons. This also prevents noob hunting by giving them a chance to fight back pretty well. When I die though I still get hurt since I lose hours of farming the matches, compass, canteen, skins,GPS,NVG etc.But again I love that very fast into new life I am in fighting form. The other items are very beneficial but not having a good weapon to fight with just sucks. -
I think this was on easy mode. When set to veteran they only show creatures not blocked by a wall etc.I think the best way for peripheral dots to be incorporated is to have them on but they only show when the creature is moving.
-
Something about it being the only way to stop duping of these items.Hopefully be fixed the right way in SA.

While I love the less HUD,some servers are reducing food loot and its very hard to conserve food items when you never know if your at full health.Maybe the blood icon could blink when you have eaten enough.Better for me would be all icons showing the amount by filling up and vice versa. The color change is hard to judge and is also apparent with the temp icon.

ADD MORE STUFF TO DO...besides PVP...seriously
wolfstriked replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think survival should be harsh in Dayz with death to thirst and hunger always looming over the survivors heads but the food and drink everywhere takes this away.Take Namalsk's food spawn rates in the big city compared to the rest of the map.At first I did not hit the big city and I loved the map with a passion. But the other day I visited it and left with matches,an alice pack,5 cans beans,5 cans of soda,a canteen and finally a Camo skin. The city is awesome feeling but the apocalypse feeling it had subsided when I filled my backpack with all the goods I needed. It completely has the look of a city way past its time and seriously looted but that is not the case.I then uncharacteristically went to a rooftop to kill for the lulz. Finally, after not seeing anyone for a 1/2 hour,I leave the town feeling it was dangerous and voila...instantly bored.WTF just happened I thought and it hit me that scavenging is a game in itself in the same way as shooting other players. They form a symbiotic relationship by causing you to look at the survivor you spot differently. This same thing happened to me in Fallout3 where at one instant I was in the apocalypse and then the next I was carrying a supermarket in my backpack and was taking on waves of people who wanted to die.Food everywhere and yet people were bandits.... Where before every town from big to small felt like that thin line between life and death were now just pretty graphics. So I went to waters edge, emptied out my back pack andthen ran down south as far away as I could get from those game breaking items.I was still bored though and thought to myself that maybe the magic of Namalsk was gone as I now knew the big city was where you went to loot up.But then just as fast it was back as my thirst icon started blinking red and my food icon was on the way down.....I was starving again and to make matters worse I was down south where food is scarce.Once again the next town I spot seemed essential to me and the more I KNEW that it was most likely empty the more I had a need to search and scavenge thru them. When I had a full back pack I just ran past them since they carried useless items but now I was once again desperate, losing blood and to top it off I had a precious MK 48 which was the first one I ever found.I looked thru garbage cans,up ladders, farm house roofs and just everywhere I spotted as I was desperate to survive just a bit longer.Funny how each new loot spot was not filled with riches but instead were filled with the reminder of where I was....and back to the apocalypse I went!! :D Its a sweet feeling when your hungry and you find a can of beans or an unlucky animal crosses your path just as your icon starts blinking.Your still low on health and so your constantly scavenging. Its also great to find watering holes on map to keep you going. Its even better when your in that ruined town's super market(the one with the huge boat sitting in the middle of it)that has nothing but cans everywhere and spot a well geared survivor actually looking in garbage cans for a bit to eat.Its awesome when he spots you and decides to run away instead.Probably down on health and did not wanna risk dying to one bullet from a noob.  Maybe for Chenarus+ we could have a day 5 map and a day 200 map where one has plenty of items allowing a very high PVP w/squads etc and the other being based more on pure survival with PVP being done for realistic reasons. Both maps would have equal amounts of players IMO. -
I was thinking that when a bandit is nearby you these creepy songs should start playing. Will give an ominous feeling and give a bit of warning. When a HERO walks by though different types of song altogether should play....scarves blowing in the wind.....

Sniper Rifles, Scopes and the Metagame. A Suggestion to change Firefight dynamics.
wolfstriked replied to Luftwaffle (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree about it being sniperville.I watch videos from Sacriel and while I love to watch them I hope to never run into him and his crew. They are on full blown "spot and kill anything that moves" mode from high distances. That plus they are on comms and practice this way of playing day in and day out and I will get killed instantly as I search for supplies. But I am a good player up close so while I do not like using sniper rifles I find I may have to out of necessity. But a way to fix this without removing the sniper weapons is easy IMO. Get rid of anti-material rifles and to counter the anti-material aspect of them add in RPG's.This is huge as it gives players a fighting chance to survive against snipers. Get rid of range finders....silly addition to game making sniping easy....remove it for easy way to increase player skill being part of sniping. The lack of one shot kills unless a headshot is greatly needed. -
Hide yo kids hide wife...heck hide your husbands too! :P

Crash course on the 1.7.3 Combat System (by the person who wrote it)
wolfstriked replied to venthos's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Venthos, brilliant post!! One thing I think would work for the standalone and might really deter alt-F4 behavior without killing the player.Let players combat log and just register this on the main hive.5 combat logs and the player gets a mark on their name. Then give server owners an option to allow players who combat log or instantly lock them out. This way players will start seeing banned upon log in and hopefully stop this ridiculous behavior. -
The reason I suggest it easy to find matches is that balancing a game is hard with the more variables you add in.Look at what you need to find if you have to hunt to survive.Knife, hatchet, find an animal to kill and then ultra rare matches. You want players worrying about two things and that is scavenging for canned foods and spotting an animal to kill. You add in super rare matches and you will have a hell of a time balancing the spawns of food and animals IMO.Maybe make matches a one use item like a soda? This way you can keep a few of them as you find them.
-
Like you say its a balance thing and too far can make something terrible I agree. If things go to really harsh then most people just wont last long. :D When your running around with 4k blood from thirst/hunger/temp and being shot then one more bullet will kill you.But maybe this is the way a survival game should be....not the get geared and you can live long time but more YOU WILL DIE game style.Could be a "seperate the men from the boys" thing   What I find great about Namalsk is the quickness to get a good weapon.Did not think I would like that but making things like warm clothing, compasses,GPS etc really rare then it works for me.Allows us to survive and fight back earlier into a life and yet still have gear as level.Works great!
-
I agree and canned foods that you find can be thought of as a backup. Then water sources as main drink sources to make them both hard to survive with.People will say this is making the game easier though somehow.
-
Once you find matches in the easy Chenarus your just basically set. This makes the search for matches the hard part.Making matches spawn alot removes that one item from being the hard part of surviving and by changing the gameplaye you make actual finding of animals and food the hard part. You need matches to eat and plus they are everywhere in real life. EDIT....better way to look at it is that matches are a one time item, hard to find but just hard one time.Food on the other hand is something players will need to constantly search making it a hard to find item that is always needed.

Make items on ground actually look like what they really are
wolfstriked posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I searched for this and no mention but sorry in advance if its already been suggested. And I do think its a suggestion.;) For standalone please change the loot objects so that they look exactly as what they are.We have Stanag mags that look different then what they look like in inventory.Smoke grenades,Makarov mags and a few other items that all look the same when on the floor. This causes us to have to click on every pile and then look at what the items actually are when we should visually be able to just search a pile and know what everything is.Then,if its at all possible, make each item single click-able like arrows are. This way you can first visually identify whats on the ground, then mouse over each item you want and just press middle mouse button to pick up that single item. Of course finding actual ammo boxes and mags separately as suggested in a few threads would be great. Also empty cans should look exactly like an empty can.Use the model for heinz beans and put a dent in it with the top lid sticking up. And why is it that when you press middle mouse over a pile it only picks up junk like empty cans, chemlights etc. This a bad joke or what? :P -
Make items on ground actually look like what they really are
wolfstriked replied to wolfstriked's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
ahh great thanks fof the heads up. -
Yeah matches should be everywhere.Without them players will just starve away with raw steaks in their packs.

Sumrak thats great that your thinking of changing hunger and that your listening to suggestions as so many people have excellent ideas for Dayz.I love Dayz but find it has no survival aspects once you learn how to game it and the reason we all know is the large abundance of food and drink items that quickly fill up your storage forcing a pure PVP mentality.I think its best to make the survival aspects a huge part of the game experience but it needs tweaks. Some stuff below I posted already but with a few tweaks. Cold should cause very slow blood loss when shivering.I was shivering for hours and we all know that running around in freezing weather with short sleeve shirt etc will make you bed ridden for a few days.Just make it slow so the player knows that they are losing health but its not highly visible on temp meter. With food(blood)being scarce though players will not really like to be shivering knowing that precious blood is being lost. And make getting sick a higher chance w/antibiotics spawning at morphine rates Drinks....make bloodloss very slow and drink spawns very rare and canteens even rarer. Then mod in drinking from water sources so that players can survive even in servers highly looted as long as they like, but with the constant tension of moving from water source to water source.Finding a very rare canteen should be a freaking blessing!!Making a chance to get sick from ponds is a great idea and would work well by forcing players to Vortuk for antibiotics. Food....make bloodloss very slow and canned foods very rare but increase rabbits alot more, goats and chickens slightly and cows keep rare. You need to allow players a means to survive if you wanna make a post apocalyptic feeling in Namaslk by having empty cans everywhere.Hunting seems really well to fit the bill here and the fact that I saw one rabbit,a chicken and one goat all day yesterday means this would not be possible if canned goods were further reduced. You want to force players to be constantly on the move and scanning for wild animals as they progress.Matches should be common.... The city Vortuk being a huge food drop I feel detracts from all the above even though I never visited it yet.Just head there and stock up and leave with a backpack full of food is what I have read. The super markets that I found down south though were just littered with cans and all were empty.:)I loved it!!! I think meds being very high in Vortuk compared to other hospitals are enough draw for players to the big city.A rare can of food here and there is enough to keep them there happily killing each other. These are just ideas and of course this beautiful island and mod is yours so do what ever you think is best.

What the %$* is happening to this game???
wolfstriked replied to jk_scowling's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Gremlins just can't understand goodness in a living thing and it makes their minds warp and the OP Gremlin is tripping here.LOL its also that IMO people are starting to have fun by keeping people alive.I have been ganged up on by squads that just wanna torture rather than one "mouse click kill" me and then all fun is gone. -
