What about to change skins from something you find,or humanity based,to instead show how long you have survived.Say every in game 10 hours you survive you get a better looking skin.50 hours of hard survival and you spot a player off in distance....will you try to take him down??Trust me people will be much more careful to lose their kool looking rare skin.;)Here is to hoping that SA is harder to survive so that 10 hours of in-gameplay means the player was constantly struggling to find food and drink and not just geared up sitting someplace burning away the hours to earn the skin as so many MMO players grind away for dayz to achieve something new.Maybe even make 5 different skins each for low and high humanity players,though I hate humanity as I have never ever had a person ask me to bandage them?!?! Problem is that it can be so harsh to get killed that people may give up.;(Maybe a system where 5 hours of survival gets you to keep the new skin you achieved but if after achieving the new skin you only last 4 hours then you revert back to previous skin.....

    I pit my favorite team(Sidestrafe & Elbrook)against Sacriel and his cronies.LOL just joking about that..... :| What I really wanted to say is that we should all not make this a personal vendetta against Sacriel.Its a game people and you all as well as myself have all killed that noob just to test it out.Even Rocket stated that he was shooting near a player to warn him and instead just filled the poor guy full of lead.Its kinda looking like there will be a virtual lynching soon and thats just wrong IMO.Then again it could lead to some crazy server wars that we can all watch live.whateva

    Farming is too long term and I hope the SA doesnt go that way.Make the game hard to survive where you can't just run into forest and emerge 30 days later bragging on the forums.2 days to 3 days is about right.

    We will just have to wait and see what the SA brings.I doubt any suggestions here will change the dev minds.If its very gamey I am sure that eventually very hardcore servers pop up.

Firstly I wanna start this post off by saying that I have hated "aiming deadzone" from the minute I first fired up Arma2.When your crosshair is moving like crazy onscreen it tends to make you feel off as your brain tries to also follow the actual weapons orientation and your actual body orientation.But if you remove the crosshair you can then put more focus on the weapons orientation to game world.This enhances the game in a few ways.... This is the same thing that Red Orchestra has in that the weapon moves in game slightly before the actual player body moves.Such a kool feature of one of the best feeling FPS games can be easily installed into Dayz by just locking aiming deadzone to one click right and removing the crosshair.This means the cheaters out there cannot cheat by marking their PC screens anymore.Instead,everyone has to learn each and every weapon visually and become proficient at it. Then it seems to make the clunkiness that Arma2 is notorious for a little less annoying.By setting the aiming deadzone to just one click you remove this feel a bit.I notice a bit more fluidity when moving in the tight enter-able cabin in 3rd person and also 1st person.When aiming out the window it once again feels a bit less clunky. Two more things to make the weapons feel better in Dayz. In Arma2 first person the camera is looking out from where the left eyeball would be.The reason this was done is that with the huge scopes that Arma2 has,the weapons would of been blocking the whole view in 1st person.But the weapons look off sitting so far to the right,looking like your holding the weapon out to your side instead of shouldered and a quick move away from sighted.By moving the camera over to the right then it would look/feel better in Dayz,which does not have huge scopes to deal with.....hopefully.;( Also,going from shouldered to sights and back again feels clunky in Arma2 sadly and this camera shift could give a better feel when going from shouldered to optics and back. One final thing is to remove the weapon raising when you walk into objects.I am not talking about the getting stuck in doorways part but rather the way at certain times the weapon will kick up and then back down.Feels way off and just adds even more to the clunkiness.

    The "Aiming Deadzone" in Arma2 has some uses...

    SA having no cross hair would be best but the main reason that I first posted this is that people cheat.You make SA with no crosshair and people "WILL" just mark their screens.This sucks for the players that like the added immersion of trying to visually line up the weapon with object in distance.The messed up part of this is that the crosshair is zeroed to around 300m so that far away shots are easier compared to up close shots when using the crosshairs.To even the playing field Red Orchestra made the crosshair free aiming so that you couldn't just mark your screen.I feel Dayz needs this as its easy way to even the playing field,plus it makes interiors feel less clunky. Maybe a small dot centered onscreen would help in a sense since you can place it near a target and know your in close proximity.This small dot could also have other uses like easier object pickup and even a way to tell bandit from survivor by changing color.

And once again why are we not being told of the advances that the new UI will have.Its a bad decision to go silent since devs do not get things right as witnessed by Arma's inventory.There are so many people here that could look at the new ideas and add to them before anything gets set in stone.

    Eject prompt & More Realistic drinking

    What are the reasons for saving the drinks?You fill up your thirst meter and now your 5 drinks away from death or you drink one drink every time your thirst icon is blinking and they last the same amount of time IMO.I say make drinks super rare,ability to drink from water sources and finding a canteen as a huge benefit to survival.

    Its there for a reason.The Arma devs did not want "their" game to be a twitch shooting game where you have players doing all sorts of unrealistic kill shots.The fastest way to move the weapon in game is to move the mouse in a smooth manner.If you try to spin it fast to snap off a shot at person standing behind you it will move less than if you were to slow down the movement and let the character follow the mouse.Think about it like this.....A2 tries to model realistic body mechanics....do you really think you can spin around in a split second and take a shot?

    That is a good workaround for now but in SA I think game mechanics should be polished to a shiny gem.For example when gutting,cooking etc you must not press W or it automatically cancels the action.

    Wow I like what I see so far Sumrak from the shaking from cold instantly on map to the random infected roaming the map.The shaking right away with the wind sound made me feel instantly cold while playing and I love it!Some suggestions... Add in the breath fog mod Make shaking visible when in 3rd person The wind and ambient noises are too loud IMO.Can you make them 1/4 the volume they are now?The reason I ask is that I like playing with volume at full so weapons sound dangerous but then the ambient sounds are overwhelming. Slow down the run speeds back to default Arma2 level.The pistol is the same in Dayz and Arma2 but running with rifles in Dayz is same speed as sprinting or so close that you see no difference.I think the more realism added into a simulation the better and the flying thru the woods look just throws me off.Also when I am firing at an enemy and they are jinking side to side at this faster level it looks off to me. Back to give it a go,thanks Sumrak......

  19. There are soldiers laying in certain parts of the map,like in the army tents,that could be used as spawn points.Place spawn points next to them so that it looks like they dropped their weapons when they were killed.

    YOURNAME.ArmA2OAProfile is the one u wanna change. And my file matches the name that I use in game so it does matter.Maybe you changed your in name game somewhere along the line?

    i LOVE THE SUGGESTION.i FEEL THAT the humanity should stay tied to your hive character name.You wanna suddenly be a good guy your gonna have to survive for a few lives without killing peeps!

Yep,I feel this is the one change that will really set in the survival feel.First it is much needed as it allows the food spawns to be severely reduced lending to the apocalypse feel.Second it forces the need to constantly scavenge to survive and having to constantly do something in game means you get less"all geared up and now what" posts.One issue though is that with reduced foods then hunting becomes the only way to get health back after being shot up and that can be extremely hard at times.I am finding that its almost impossible to play like this.A good workaround is to increase the blood gain from food items.For example killing a wild boar should net you full health and all wild animals only give one food item so you have to constantly look out for them. 3 of these for full health http://myitchyfinger...1/10/rabbit.jpg One of these for full health http://3.bp.blogspot...C00098.JPG.jpeg Canned foods=2000blood=6 cans instead of 15 Rabbits=4000 blood=3 rabbits instead of 10 Boars/goats=full health from each Make em run when you aggro them for added immersion and difficulty.... 3

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

    After playing on Namalsk I find going back to Chenarus to look too bright and cheery.I really hope the SA gets the "Road" look Rocket mentioned.And if the SA rules then I will buy the retail product just as a way to show that a dream game style has emerged.Now if Rocket were to then make offset games based on the Dayz engine but with different back stories then I will buy all of them also.:)

    How exactly is this game fun?

    Try Namalsk and you will have fun.Dayz started out with excellent intentions but faltered slightly.The game is about survival first and foremost and so when your doing the hiking simulator waiting hours for an adrenaline fix you should instead be constantly needing to do something to survive.Namalsk helps out by making food and drink a bit more rare and also the fact its a smaller landmass and has tons of weapons you will find action more often.
