Rocket, Don't leave us out the SA!
wolfstriked replied to Izziee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
BIS have never ever catered to the mass markets friend. And now with Rocket running the show for Dayz and specifically stating that he was given the go to make the game as he sees fit,I doubt this will come true. -
Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)
wolfstriked replied to mind_grenade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I say stick with everyone is the same at spawn but add in character progression but with a twist in that you find books in game to add class stats. This would make losing your current fully geared/plus highly educated character a pain in the ass. Also it would help force a stay and play mentality to the new infectious diseases aspect that longer lived players will be dealing with in SA.Spawn rates rare to push for exploration and to add to endgame.Put an ingame timer in so that you must survive set amount of time while you learn the skill like in MMO's.Example is 8 hours after finding a medical dictionary you get a pop up stating "you finished studying and now are seemingly proficient in medical practice ;) ". MEDICAL BOOKS IN HOSPITALS=ability to give blood transfusions and to easily diagnose infectious diseases HUNTING BOOKS IN CABINS=peripheral dots for animals only added in to game with ability to craft traps MECHANICAL BOOKS IN INDUSTRIAL=ability to repair vehicles SCIENTIFIC BOOK=?? -
You want some more progress screenshots of DayZ Standalone?
wolfstriked replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I think textures are whats really needed to set Chenarus+ over the edge.Just go into the editor and bring up the map "Proving Grounds".Once there proceed to the super market(located at crossroads) and experience what a texture upgrade will do.Its the same building but it has huge character suddenly. On one of the backdoors is a poster taped on it.Stuff like this could set apart different buildings that use same model etc.I dunno if textures like that will bring Dayz to its knees though. :| -

Slight Unrealism When in Prone
wolfstriked replied to Robert-_-Frost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Its the only way to look over objects when prone though so its needed. Also if you are prone and need to fire at a rooftop you can change your body position on floor to accommodate but Arma2 does not have the animations to do this. -
Please don't implement passing stool

OMG I am dying with all the ideas pooping brings.Stepping in something and suddenly you have a ton of flies surrounding your boots...squad mates accusing each other of not washing after...being sniped and dodging thru minefields of poo. This adds alot to the game IMO.Just have a reasonable lifespan for poo so that you can't run into ridiculous situations. Also a new item could be toilet paper and for the survivalist...leaves. -
Feedback on status of infectious diseases in DayZ
wolfstriked replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Easy cure for lazy suiciders who can't bother to play the game the way it was meant to be played.....spawn them with the diseases they decided to leave with. >:( What gets me though is no talk of survival in the food and drink part of the game.I want an apocalypse where cans of food and drink spawn at rate of matches and you must hunt to survive with contaminated wells and lakes to contend with and the animals that drink from these water sources....ahhh everything will be diseased!! Also,I wanna stop running past every town I encounter as my destination is super markets and military drops only.I want to see towns in distance and feel hope that maybe just maybe an item I desperately need can be found there.Make the blood loss from hunger happen very slowly and add in blood gain(1.5 times the speed of blood loss) only when the hunger icon is not blinking. To make this more effective also slowdown the blood loss from dehydration and add in slow blood loss from freezing. -
Possible Fix for Server Hopping on Standalone
wolfstriked replied to logan23's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I just posted this on another thread.Main server is where you spawn. If you wanna jump to new server you will be placed somewhere up north near debug plains and have to travel down.Maybe have a squad jump ability so you can move your whole squad to new server to raid the known squad bases there?I can see this being excellent if or rather when Dayz gets construction up and running. -
I think removal from infantry weapons is smart but keep them around and rare for heavy 50 caliber machines guns for nightime base protection...if we ever get bases.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
wolfstriked replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think every time you wanna leave one server to enter another you should start at the coast or even better way way up north.. -

Pooping in a game=funny Opening up an outhouse to loot it and finding the guy who murdered you earlier pooping=priceless;) -
Good times ahead.;)

I agree with you in that I think any weapon that gets you to 4K blood should drop you, cause shock and erratic aiming but not knocked out for gameplay reasons.Fighting back when deaf and your arms are flailing is harsh enough to player who is shot and gives advantage to the shooter.

I do see your point and feel the problem is that many people love the 3rd person so its not an easy issue to fix. Its something that I am troubled by in SA since it will be one main server with it most likely turned on and just a quick"if you do not like it turn it off" fix.I also have same issues with no crosshair and how people(like myself)will just mark the LCD screen itself to actually make a better crosshair than the one in game.Easy fix is to add in one click of aiming deadzone but doubt that will ever make it in either.

Lately I am staying on 1st person servers and find myself way more immersed to point that I am now kinda milfed that there is only 3 servers.I am finding that there is no way to make a scary game with 3rd person IMO since you can see whats going on around you too easily. Its so easy that I thought that maybe restricting the amount you can freelook to force players to have to manually turn around would be better. In 1st person though I find myself having a harder time just dealing with infected and this goes a long way to giving Dayz greater fear factor.Even with the placeholder zeds I am finding myself jumping at times in game. Also, its kinda funny how the game is called the most realistic simulation of combat and people run around with 3rd person while the total arcade shooters like BF3/Counter Strike are FPS's only. That said if it comes with option I will still play it and just stick to higher difficulty servers.

How high do you feel 7.62 should go?Its a two body shot kill weapon right now and thats perfect IMO.You wanna make it a one body shot kill weapon and then its basically a less accurate AS50.IMO nothing in Dayz should be one shot one kill unless its a headshot.

Any1 meet frankie on his namalsk?
wolfstriked replied to LittleTragik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The guy is hilariously likeable.Sneaks up on a fully kitted out Bushwookie/sniper hiding under a tree and is acting like Jack Hannah when he would meet a new wild animal.Awww look at the little little Bambi just hiding there so cute awww.Then he notcies that the bambi does not have any Morphine and secretly places a few in his back pack and then just wanders off.I was cracking up watching this guy!!He is super funny and at same time he is also strategicaly superior to so many of us players that I get kinda depressed watching him overtake everyone and anyone. -
Post-apocalyptic mod, eh? Why not have post-apocalyptic skins/weapons?
wolfstriked replied to privatewolf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I am hoping for this one to be really good and hopefully Shinkicker can pull it off. :D I think realism should be its main draw with slower movement speeds so that jogging from town to town is a nightmare and hence making vehicles necessary.Bikes everywhere and junked cars you need to find ALOT of parts to finally get them running.Rare animals and no bloodloss from hunger....this is because you do not die from hunger for long time but dehydration you will.Your search for food should mainly be to rebuild blood of which will be hard if its done right.Ability to drink from water sources and canteens are precious items...stuff like this and I think it will be boring as shit while highly immersive.Heck even put in ability to build yourself a shack out in woods from all the woodpiles you find....yes from Project Zomboid. :P Oh yeah and a broken down piece of junk motorcycle that also needs to be built up and can be done in half time of the cars. -
Its a game so simplify it.No reason to make AK family slightly less powerful than the M16 family. Most online weapon forums judge them as pretty much equals. The only way I would make the AK slightly less effective is if you then add in its exceptional durability.I think it should be looked at as how many body shots to take down and that fixed to better give all weapons there due.None of this shooting at a person with Bizon and needing 14 bodyshots. For example.... Silenced=8 body shots pistols=6 body shots Revolver/m1911=5 body shots Stub assault=5 body shots Assault=4 body shots AKM=3 body shots Sniper=2 body shots Not sure on shotguns though. And add in some type of penalty if your dropped below say 4K blood that you then get the erratic aim thats already in Arma2 when shot.Could be a good use of morphine to be able to fight effectively?

New backpack idea - Tetris style
wolfstriked replied to Chicken_Mcflurry's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So wheres the pic of standalone inventory.Would really like to be able to add suggestions since there are many good ideas from people posting here.We all know what happens when a game goes with just a few ideas...ala Arma2 inventory.;) -
I love this and posted something similar yet very simple compared to your awesome suggestions yrs back. There is a shaking and ranting effect when your low in health that I feel when around infected that they should aggro from it if close enough.First time it happened I was like WTF Rocket your brilliant but found it not utilized fully.Another idea to add is what happened to me by accident.I was shaking and started screaming when a zed walked by and suddenly my character started running. Its actually my keyboard and that the W sticks that caused it but at the time it fit perfectly with the ranting effect.I was pressing A to counter and thought it was my character freaking out and just running and was trying to prevent it by fighting with A and D keys. This could tie in with your extreme panic level and be a very good way to instill fear of infected when players have none.

Post-apocalyptic mod, eh? Why not have post-apocalyptic skins/weapons?
wolfstriked replied to privatewolf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There is a mod coming out that is different then Dayz in that its Dayz five yrs later. Its called Dayz 2017 and it means to make it so that weapons are super rare and military type weapons have all been used up.Have a look.... http://www.zombietreats.com/dayz-2017/ -
I put free look key to SHIFT(space bar works well also) as its easier to hit and you should be looking round constantly.

Even that is alot on Namalsk. :P I don't think I ever opened up the pack on that map.

Expert/Mercenary/Hardcore Servers Are Empty
wolfstriked replied to Kain Phalanx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just a few tip for players that like 1st person view which makes it a little easier to see around corners and over obstacles when prone.Go prone in some grass and you can't see diddly but now point your weapon up in the air and you will see alot more than you thought you could. You can only go so high up with weapon before you reach the bottom of your LCD though you can then freelook downwards and see huge amount. But you are then overexposing yourself greatly so do everything with caution and stealth for best effect. Same with getting close to a corner and then turning weapon to side will allow you to see further around corner than before.Whats great about this technique is that you only really expose your weapon so it mimics peeking around obstacles and makes 1st person more fun.The enemy also only sees a weapon peeking out so it mimics a player just peering around and obstacle pretty well. You can also get close to corner, then and then freelook slightly to side and see slightly more view but weapon turning is easier to do. Another tip is change your controls so that Q and E are look left/right toggle which removes having to hold them the whole time and can then manipulate A W D easier. Some tweaks by Rocket could further 1st person ease of use. While I am all for the lowest amount of info on the HUD for immersion I do think a very small stationary crosshair serves a purpose though.Remove the dynamic crosshair from Arma2 and replace with a stationary, very small upwards pointing ^ . This ^ could also point down "v" to easily signal your crouched which can be hard to tell when in 1st person view.Have this ^ always onscreen, when walking, when running, when crouched etc as it allows a reference point for a little more feel when maneuvering. To counter using the crosshair ^ to aim with add in some "aiming deadzone" as default for everyone.Just one click is enough to make it so that even if you place the ^ on an object in distance does not mean your bullets will hit it since weapon free floats around the ^.One click of aiming deadzone is suffice. With these tips, some practice and the few tweaks I posted that could be done to further 1st person I think its a very immersive experience.
