1.7.5 - Cows will now run for their lives
wolfstriked replied to Play (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
^^^ your forgetting that you cannot eat until hungry.800 is slow as ass when you only eat when hungry. Can take a whole play session to resort back to 12000 and not to mention constantly taking more and more damage. -
My least favourite part about Dayz is the Zombies.
wolfstriked replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think that making the zeds able to hit you as you jog away is great idea and that they run in buildings idea also. You can only sprint so much then your stuck at jogging speeds wherein zeds will get hits on you and force you to turn and fight.Since there is supposed to be a life cycle aspect of zeds it means that you will only be having to fight the walkers.Monkeys can not catch you at jogging speeds giving you time to escape, same with crawlers. -

Then again I would make the game so that damage and survival are two separate entities.Blood icon should be tied to survival only.More like a vitality icon where it usually resides in the middle area of its range.Getting shot at though should be tied to its own 12000 damage threshold and when you bandage up(med-kit?)you can once again take a full 12000 damage from weapons.Getting shot at should also result in varying speeds of bleeding dependent on damage. And the med-kit should not be instant. While this negates bloodbags it allows more immersion into the survival aspect of game.Think medkits from hospitals being rare and more items you can scavenge and craft into makeshift med-kits with chance to infect. -

Between 1 and 800 is insane!!!!!!!!Should be 400 to 800 random. Then again only eating when hungry is harsh enough and so I would leave it as full 800 per steak and player only eats when hungry. -
You want some more progress screenshots of DayZ Standalone?

I hope that the life cycle thing brings on well fed terminator type infected!

Got any ideas to make Dayz standalone insanely hard? :)
wolfstriked replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Spawn them far enough out in the ocean so that by the time they do reach land they will be coughing and blinking with both water and food icons. Then the game begins.;) -
I hope this is not the slow decline to MMO style game.IMO,keep it as realistic as possible.I see the reason for this as a way to push PVP.People will get a message onscreen saying heli has crashed....look at GPS and it shows where and now you half of the players will head to that spot to battle it out for the FNfal.

I never got the scare factor

The funny thing is that all this hogwash and rumors has me kinda spooked in Dayz. The two times I found a Dew in game I thought to myself that its best to get rid of it and dropped it off a few secs later.I always wonder if they really make it so that carrying a dew means certain death. -
So with this idea we now will have 10 cans of coke,10 cans of beans and 10 apples in our packs?

I might mix up some people here so I apologize up front. Lately I am wondering if having thirst/hunger damage tied in with bullet damage being too much for the blood icon.Lack of food/drink and you start to lose blood and if you get shot you lose blood at set values dependent on individual weapon.Problem with this is that it combines survival and PVP on one icon and I feel that it subtracts from each at same time.If your out surviving and just barely getting by the game is immersive but a weak weapon will kill you with one bullet. Now people will fight back and say to leave as is because its immersive to be on low health and able to be killed by a single pistol bullet. But we now have a game that is based on survival but is setup to make survival very easy to allow the PVP to keep going on by having food galore everywhere and a farm of animals to hunt down. Told you I would mix you up here. Broken bones=morphine Pain=painkillers Bleeding=bandage Bullet wound=medkit So I propose a new icon that shows a bullet wound and to remove the blood amount player has in the getting shot equation.Getting shot and surviving should not be tied to the amount of blood a player has but Instead be based on a system where the game keeps tabs of damage from a weapon and once you use a medkit your bullet damage resistance gets reset. This allows the mod to drop animal population, food and drink supplies down very low while at same time allowing the PVP to keep playing on. Blood icon should only take damage in ways listed below. The rates of bloodloss from temp/food/thirst should be severely reduced to allow the lack of supplies to happen. ;) Get shot you instantly start bleeding and blood loss occurs=bandage(The damage the individual weapon causes determines the rate of bleeding.) Temp icon flashes blue and bloodloss occurs=get warm Hunger icon blinks and bloodloss occurs=eat some food Drink icon blinks and bloodloss occurs=drink something So you get shot and kill the offender and you bandage up to stop the bleeding. In Dayz you would just cram down as many steaks as you can to bring blood back up to healthy levels or use blood bag.But this causes your survival immersion to instantly stop since blood icon gets reset while you reset your PVP ability.I am proposing that instead of gorging on steaks to reset the PVP ability you instead use a medkit that sutures the wounds, removes the wounded icon from screen and resets your ability to take full 12000 damage. Finally......the only way to eat is when the hunger icon is blinking. This is needed to prevent the players from just gorging on steaks till blood icon is green. Immersion wise....your gonna be constantly trying to keep the blood icon as high as possible. Remember this drops from cold, lack of food and water and how much blood you have lost from bleeding WHILE AT SAME TIME you can only eat food when your hunger icon is blinking.

Seperate survival from bullet damage
wolfstriked replied to wolfstriked's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You are trying to understand my point and I thank you.Survival is non existent in Dayz.Lets see what the SA brings but I think it will just be the same....food/drinks/animals galore but now with more things to worry about.Finding meds for the various infections will be great but doesn't mean that they shouldn't fix the issue of needing food and drink to be plentiful to allow PVP......once again this diminishes survival. This is my point here, the excessive amounts of food and drink diminish the survival but are needed to allow PVP.Other wise with Dayz with no people shooting at you survival would be the main game immersion and right now its broken. -

You only need a medpak to be fully PVP capable again.Scavenge supplies to craft one of raid a hospital. The food part is just to keep from dying due to the blood icon blinking. -

I knew it would confuse. :D Ok,I will try to reply as best I can. The bloodloss is a gamey mechanic but its all we have in a video game. There is no way currently to simulate what happens from hypothermia, starvation, getting shot in kidney etc.So we have blood loss and we deal with it.Think of the blood icon more as your survival icon.Start to get hypothermia, malnutrition, dehydration, infections etc and your chances of survival get slimmer and slimmer right? I posted the thirst=bloodloss=drink/hunger=bloodloss=eat...only to show a new icon example of gunshot wound=medkit. Yes you can carry medkits to allow you to get right back into PVP. Yes this does err the surviving of a bullet wound but it needs to be done to allow the "better survival of the elements" style gameplay. What I am thinking is medkits should be rare like blood bags and also be craft able.Force players to scavenge stuff like rags/thread/needle/peroxide to craft a medkit.Rags can also be used as bandages but with risk of infection compared to medical bandages. Why eat slightly before a gun fight? The survival icon has nothing to do with your ability to take weapon damage and as long as you do not have a gunshot wound icon showing you can take full 12000 damage. The survival/blood icon only has to do with food/temp/thirst/bleeding. I guess the best way to show what I mean is if you play Dayz2017.Find a low population server and try to survive........but do not eat until the hunger icon starts blinking.I am constantly at low blood and having to avoid infected due to the inability to gorge on my 12 steaks in my backpack to raise my blood.2017 has way to many animals as they were increased to compensate for the lack of canned foods but the dev is fixing this. -
Seperate survival from bullet damage

And I see it will just be overlooked  Surviving should be a game in itself but as you put it yourself "Eating/drinking is no challenge whatsoever, if you are totally ignoring it it's your own fault for being a bad player.". I don't know how to explain it better. By combining the two you force the survival to not be survival at all.Its food galore and a freaking animal safari park in Dayz and sadly I feel the devs do not know how to fix this. :( -
Suggestions: New area's to explore, and new gear.
wolfstriked replied to Bourneco's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah why??Infected are just not scary and people wonder all the time why that is.The fear of infected should be of becoming infected yourself.Anytime you start to bleed while scuffling with infected you should have a 50% chance of contracting the disease. And if you have antibiotics then you should be able to stop the infection from taking over your body.Give some fear to the infected is a good thing IMO.Also,I would love to see the infected have a chance to knock you down to the ground.Think going prone when surrounded by a horde. -

New monitor - Mod is unplayable, have been playing since day one
wolfstriked replied to snafu18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@Theduriel,but he lowered the resolution and same issue.A PC dishes out the same amount of juice at 1024x768 if run on a 19 in or a 55in monitor. There is not more stuff added in on the larger monitor trust me.This is why you need to increase the resolution when you go to a bigger monitor since using the same resolutions results in a shitty image. -

promote walking (will be unpopular of a suggestion)
wolfstriked replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I've been asking for this for awhile now but I do not think that forcing walking is good idea though.Instead I would drop the run speed down past default Arma2 run speed so that its a jog rather than a run.People can jog for very long distances as can be witness everywhere you go. ;) Sprinting will slow down to the run speed in default Arma2(Dayz run speed is too fast IMO)but stay there for as long as you wanna run "faster" than jog speed....but this is where hunger/thirst gets magnified.Allows people to still run at close to same speeds that are in Dayz right now but they need to decide if they wanna burn thru their rations just to get somewhere or instead jog there at normal ration consumption speeds. -
How many people play DayZ with TrackIR?
wolfstriked replied to miket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just wanna warn some folks here with my experiences.First off is that I have it and I do not use it In Dayz. The product requires you to sit perfectly centered in your seat or else the sensors go off screen and the screen goes crazy. This drives me nuts in a game like Dayz where I do gun fight with my body straight and head pressed against the screen and at other times I slack into my seat and at times even turn sideways from screen to put my legs up on desk.In flight sims I am always seated perfectly as the sim requires alot of concentration and it works amazing!!! It is a must in flight sims and IMO its ok in Dayz. Another issue I had is the TrackIR pro clip is a piece of junk.Cheap plastic that broke when I dropped my headphones only one time. And this happened right before I went to try it for the first time.Luckily it ships with the normal clip which works good enough if your seated in a normally lit room IMO.I put my SHIFT key as the look around key as its way easier to use and this button is very important for situational awareness.SPACE key is the walk/run toggle. Finally to sell this product eve more here is a kool video of it in action in a zombie mod for Arma2. -
New monitor - Mod is unplayable, have been playing since day one
wolfstriked replied to snafu18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its not the larger size folks as its the same amount of pixels be pushed when you run 1600x1200 on a 13in vs a 24in since your pushing 1600x1200 pixels.Just guessing here but I think it may be two things.First is that the monitor could have a terrible response time/ refresh rate and this is causing some visual issues? Is it a bargain monitor? What is the response time?Another thing could be that the monitor is defective. -
Just reduce the ranges as it is a game and leveling the playing field is needed and makes for a funner time.Getting in close and sniping....yes you now need to get closer but you will still have the advantage against non-snipers.The variable zoom scopes should go IMO as its a game and we need to make some errs in realism to allow people to run around in fear of infected and not just fear of far away snipers on rooftops.I do like different scope magnifications for different scopes though.
