Just think what kind of stuff could be done with area specific weapons and maps from around the world.Dayz which is set in Chenarus should be filled with eastern European weapons only.Make a map as big as Chenarus but modeled on say N Dakota and having American weapons only etc.Could be a very kool way to add atmosphere to the game.Just look at Stalker games and how the multitude of Russian weaponry and how it lends to feeling like your near to the Zone.

    BI are most likely thinking this way as they seem to make military training sims first and foremost.I think they make millions on this compared to the paltry amount from the game version....till Dayz that is! And people here will fight over the OP when in fact he has a very good point.Rocket seems to bend reality when he is asked the same question over and over "will duping ever be fixed".I think he stated that if it becomes standalone then he can lock down the scripts.....not sure on that though.We will have to wait and see on this one.

    Fighting bandits with... dogs!

    Your dog will be killed so fast in Dayz no matter what.Since dogs will attack everything they see,witnessed by people having to put them on leashes to control this,I can't see how they will be implemented properly.Maybe they could be for when the underground stuff comes out and they will start barking when they sense something at the entrance.Now if Rocket adds in wild dog packs then I can see a use for them.Hungry,fast and smart enough to hunt in packs is a formidable forest enemy.

    Too much complaining about 3rd person view

    But you guys seem to forget...the person further away from the object that is obstructing view is at disadvantage.The NPC in video that was killed would never see the player even with using 3rd person.So you can go on rooftops and now you just made game give you the advantage.....its not a fair system where one player will and one won't get the advantage IMO>

    Better ways to lose aggro

    I am still for slightly slower infected and players having stamina so that you slow down slightly and the infected can then get hits on you.It merges well with how easy it is to lose aggor right now....sometimes you can't and you will have to turn and fight.

    You guys have your points.What I think will start to make death more deadly feeling is when (or if) Rocket decides to end duping and drop spawn rates of high tier weapons even further.I finally have the weapon I have been looking for(M249 SAW) and can tell you that this is first time I have become attached to my character.I logged off right after I got it and today I am playing much more cautiously.Think the saying...."don't get attached to your gear"....and imagine if weapons were very rare and players can't dupe weapons and ammo anymore. :)

    Why are we spawned on beach with PMC outfit anyway?We should have the stuff the zombies are wearing LOL.Imagine your buddy spawning with the priest skin and having to find the PMC skin somewhere.

    It needs to be player choice since its a game.Why control what people think is fun to play with.I also think that Dayz team should tweak the game to allow percentage choice of overall loot to be chosen. %50 percent less chance of all items that spawn and player is bound to these hardcore servers till they respawn.I mean so many people want this........... ;) Just needs a tweak to how fast blood loss happens when starving/thirsty. As for 3rd person....its pure cheating.I got me a saw machine gun last night due to this fact.I was on a roof top crouching when I heard an M249 firing and then bullets hitting all around me.I dropped down and then spent next 20minutes observing and waiting while completely hidden from view.Finally spotted him and got up and took him down.That is a huge freaking cheat.

    NW Airfield... Why only there?

    Got attacked by a SAW tonight and took the player down.This was at the power plant so no need for me to go find weapons in NWAF and especially since the saw is what I have been wanting.:) Besides,everytime I enter the NWAF area I get killed without knowing from what direction the player shot from.Last time I was killed I was moving thru this super dense tree area where I could not see anything and BAM.

    Its a game and its made this way so that you go out and search for more.If made realistic then you would only need to find one bottle of pills for most gameplay sessions.
  13. After the change where you can't play SP when Dayz is enabled I can't seem to disable Dayz.I tried so many times but Dayz remains installed.Is anyone else getting this issue?

    Does amount of loot reduce speed?

    Depends,for Dayz style game maybe not as its more geared towards authentic rather than realistic.But if they were to make a standalone SP then...and IMO this mod screams for a SP portion and I think it would add tremendously to its appeal.4Hour light cycle, having to find wood to keep you warm for the night,sleeping bags to lay down to use when you need to sleep,no snipers just looking to blow your head off,vehicles you find parts to repair and allowing you to travel to further towns to scavenge....just you against all odds.Think Project Zomboid but in FPS style game.

    LOL reminds me of when I came across a bunch of people at NWAF riding bikes and vehicles in circles in middle of airfield.No one was shooting at anyone else with everyone else just running around the vehicles acting silly.Was weird how everyone was on same mindset of NO-KOS.

    Was 1.7.2.4 ever officially released?I just saw a post saying if you wanna test it out then here it is.I don't blame people wanting to wait so they can still play on a stable game.Last night at NWAF I had to quit because the game had these weird atifacts to where I could not see anything.

    Or the horrendous pitter patter of many tiny shoes across the ground when you side strafe with a pistol. :D It makes me laugh every time I hear that sound.

    Snipers are OP?

    If anything get rid of the range finder as that makes snipers OP.Its amazing how Dayz is set up to be a high end military simulation for douchebag snipers sitting high on the hills fighting against people with lower tier weapons.This is supposed to be done to instill anger and emotion but in reality it reduces game down to just being sniped IMO.For long term gameplay I think Dayz should steer away from this concept by doing what is beging suggested by many here.....take away the .50 caliber snipers(use rockets against vehicles),get rid of NVG and thermals and add some wind into the game.;)

    Nah ACE is too complicated for a zombie type game.What about to add in a set wind speed and direction.Say wind is always NW at 4 mph or some other set standard.This way expeirence will account for how much lead you need to give with wind dependent on range etc.Would make the longer shots a bit more complicated and set the really good snipers apart from the wannabes.

    For me I would reduce the wild animals by large amount but increase the rabbits.They give less meat so less health gain and they are harder to hunt compared to the other animals that let you pet them before you axe their head.

    More eerie sounds

    Just look at Stalker to know that this doesn't work.Stalker has so many eerie sounds but you just ignore them after 5 to 10 times and then they start to ruin your immersion after 50 more times.Now the location specific sounds they added in like the fan/light combo squeaking away as you enter the underground or the banging of metal pipes as you pass certain areas is scary as hell but the constant background stuff just destroys immersion.As posted above....eerie silence is scary in itself and just hearing your footsteps and your hard breathing as you run the a dark forest is awesome.You want to keep sounds to be just a signal of whats around a corner.Think infected and your crawling around and hear that terrible moan they make,or your in Cherno and hear gun shots etc. For me,I would go with reducing sounds across the board.Just found out that I can raise the preamp on my low volume output USB headphones and it hits me how terrible the sound of A2 is.Yes the guns sound better now as they do not sound like airsoft weapons anymore but everything else is so loud.The sound of the coast,the birds shrieking in your ears as if your in a small indoor aviary with a parrot standing by your head,the massive stomping your character does as he walks across the land etc.Drop them all down low and have players listening for clues instead of having to mentally block out the cacophony of sounds and making it all into one humming mess.Quietness where you can hear yourself panting and your feet pounding the ground at a realistic level and a very loud gun shot erupts in distance.

    Wanna allow snipers to stay around?Then spawn alot of thermal looking devices so we can scan the treelines and have a fighting chance.
