I play Dayz by looking at the tremendous amount of canned foods and soda lying around as being empty.I only drink from water sources and I only hunt rabbits(can be hard to shoot at times).Before I find a canteen though I will pick up a soda and when near a water source I will drink it,done because I should be able to drink from a water fountain without a canteen.Same with canned foods eaten as long as I have a raw meat in my pack.Once I am geared I only drink water and only eat rabbits.Adds alot of feeling of survival to me as I never catch enough rabbits to get healthy and so infected are way more dangerous when running around at less than 5K blood.This just goes to show that the game could do away with the food and drink spawns and people would be alright if they were allowed to drink straight from water sources.Gives a post apocalyptic feel when there is nothing around and supermarkets are looted.If Dayz is geared so that players HAVE to visit super markets to gear up so that PVP happens,this can now be at water sources across the map. And I believe that this could be the cure to the "no real death penalty feel" that Dayz has.We all know that once you know how to game Dayz its soooooooo easy to get geared up.I head to a super market and there are like 4 backpacks laying around.Why is the game made like this though?By a very simple idea of making packs super rare and spread all over the map you just made dying a pain in the ass!!! NM the thought then of starting with no backpack at all and having to endure a long time of struggling with little carry space.Now think of canteens being rare and you will be struggling for awhile by having to stay near water sources upon spawn and having to travel to next town with thought as to where you can drink on the way.Matches should spawn everywhere and be one use,like the bandages.Well I am off to get me a backpack,matches and hopefully a canteen at my local super market. :) -

My goodness thats horrid.I post suggestion like...please show us what look your giving bandits and heroes and no response or anyone even agreeing with that.Now wwe have to live with this tacked on turbin head. Where is the artistic freedom a modder has to make a bandit look like a bandit rather than a NYC taxi driver???Will the standalone just be tacked on stuff or will it have an apocalyptic look? Isn't there a ski mask terrorist head already in A2?

Why is their a separate backpack button anyway.What you see when you press G should be whats in the backpack.....all the slots where you can hold stuff are actually clip holders and grenade holders....they dont fit with Dayz. Better is to have where you hold the bandages and pistol ammo be just for ammo.Everything else goes into the slots above and they just get more slots when you upgrade you pack.This way you could have it so that when you press G the inventory screen comes up and you have access to all your items at once.Attach a sound of the player opening the bag when you press G for great effect.

I posted a similar idea but where you can just join a special map loaded to gils with car/heli parts(large junkyard).Bandits can go there to rob and players desperate for a special part to fix their chosen ride could take the chance and visit.You just join this server and when you click back on Chenarus it places you back where you were before leaving the map. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/65058-seperate-small-maps-with-specific-items-to-loot/#entry621572 -
This video is eye opening.I was not around when it was this hard to play Dayz.I arrived when the dumbing down began so this video was crazy to watch.

I say if a player finds and decides to wear this orange vest then to increase the visual indicator by 5 bars but do not tell the player.Let them just aggro every infected they come across as punishment for being such care bears.

Its a game and has so many gamey aspects to it.Why not make matches once use and that they spawn everywhere at reduced rate so you need to search for them amongst other things.....

Thought of that but the problem with the shaking is its super annoying as its not done right.In real life we have a multitude of things to account for when firing a weapon.People who shoot rifles actually have to learn breathing techniques and how to counter wind etc.And iron sights in game are so easy its ridiculous.In real life you raise weapon and then have to point the tip up or down so that the front post centers in the rear post and then you need to keep this centered and move weapon to hit target.Modern sights like red dots take away this part of shooting but do not take away the breathing and the pull of trigger not disrupting the aim part. We are supposed to be normal people in an apocalypse and seeing bullets firing around where your aiming would add to my game and even more so when that circle slowly starts to close in.Then there is the possibilities where your highly trained in AKM but suck with the SVD etc etc.You could train with various weapons and "if" Rocket ever makes it so that ammo is super rare and you fight with what you find.....then imagine losing this highly trained character.This idea is to add more risk feel to storming or even hunting players when your character is highly trained and capable to hunt and kill effectively. -

This is just suggestion so don't rage hate me.I would love to see a system where its a 25% chance you will hit the target where you aim when you first spawn.The shots that miss will hit in a circle around your target and this circle will gain diameter with range.The reason is that its incentive to go out and get good at fighting with weapons and also a major boost to the death penalty trauma that the OP is looking for.Now for every 10 bandits or survivors you kill or every 100 infected you will gain 25% shooting accuracy.Say you kill 30 players in PVP,you will then be firing at a weapons trained level. With a percentage chance to hit it will feel real since you could have a miss/miss/hit/miss/hit/hit/hit with the misses getting greater with range.This prolongs gun fights and that makes for a fun world while at same time....if you are a hardened survivor then you will be deadly to deal with.This way snipers will or rather must be highly trained with firing weapons but noobs can defend themself at very close range with ease as it is in real life. -

Yep,I am bored silly up north LOL.Survival is excellent but needs PVP to finalize and with bandit skins coming back the times are looking great for us survivor types.Still would like more survival items to round out the feel of this aspect of Dayz though. Salt to preserve cooked steaks Batteries Weapon maintenance by using paper towels you find to dry them and oil you find to lube them Toilet paper :P Soap Antiseptics Antibiotics Needles Thread Very rare sodas and canned foods Maybe funny comics made by players and added to game :rolleyes: -

^^^Your not getting why we want to have an indicator.I love to PVP but do not wanna kill players just trying to survive.Bandits can stealth all they want and that makes me spotting one and then going on the hunt that much more fun.So you see....I need bad people in my apocalypse so that I can take my anger out on.;) -

What you can do is role play a harsher world as I do.Every can of beans or soda I see is just the empty can as the infection started a year before and most stuff has been scavenged already.I only drink water and hunt as my only food source.Its harder but still easy so I resorted to only hunting those rascally rabbits(cows are all eaten by infected already)and its more challenging as they only supply one steak and so health can at times get low and stay there.Just wish there was incentive to visit every single building I see on horizon.Maybe matches are one use and spawn at reduced rate but everywhere to keep you needing to constantly search for them.Maybe instead of broken bones the infected actually bit you and cause open wounds.You need to find needles and also thread to be able to suture up.Just wish there was a hundred items to find but cant think of any. -

Loaded my pack up with matches,compass,knife etc.Found this lone survivor laying down in a construction building.He had no weapon and I had my AKM pointed at his head and neither one of us moved for like 30 seconds.I then kneeled down around 10ft away from him and placed a compass on the ground.He looked so hesitant and after what seemed like 30 more seconds he slowly clambered over to pick up the prize.Then one by one I would walk away and lay something down and wait....after 20 seconds he would make the move again.He would look at me and look down at prize then back at me then back to prize and then would pick it up.I swear I was feeling like Jane Goodall at that point in the way we were interacting with each other.It was like planet of the apes first encounter and I started to think...is this person maybe retarded?? LOL -
Arma is a great game that falters unless you have a gaming group.I purchased A2 then OA and both times I was bored in a day or two.Dayz brings A2 to the forefront by allowing you to just install and enter this dangerous world where you have to survive.Project reality is also really good for A2 but I find that being yelled at by guys who think they are real military and send me to my death over and over just ruins it for me.....yes I know some are real military.;)

Man I just checked out some videos of iron Front:Liberation 44 and am amazed at the quality of work.It oozes passion and I will definitely pick it up at $30 dollars.Its the details details details that gets me about it.They changed things like shouldered weapon viewpoint in first person,death animations,running and gunning at same time,the scopes are beautiful,the weapons have a feel to them,bolt action rifles with reload animations,the crosshairs are perfectly centered.I use to mod for Stalker and many people just couldn't get the hang of centering irons sights.I would help a few modders with that and I'll be honest and say sometimes one weapon could take 8 hours or more. :( Arma2 has many weapon iron sights that are off and that just shows a lacking passion for what they are doing.I don't blame BI though since there is so much work in making the engine and they probably can't afford to have a guy sit for 8 hours making an iron sight perfect. Now onto the maps.Two of them are larger than Chenarus and have every building enterable and just exude a love for their mod.If BI,Rocket and the IF44 team could come to an agreement to allow stuff to be ported over to Dayz,I feel it would benefit this mod alot.1944 zombie apocalypse right after WW2 ends. :D Just needs passion and people to go in and make period perfect food and drink stuff etc.Not just paste in pepsi and coke and AS50's and call it a day.Here check out this video if you so desire. -
Could be....I am always able to vault them. :huh: And about the purpose of them is to prevent crossing...I think they are more to slow you down.Look at this Wiki on barbwire to see their purpose. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbed_wire

Would love for Rocket to kinda include us players on choices they make.One is how the bandit will look and also the heroes.Personally I do not like the German turbin head wrap and would rather see something done like the terrorist mask from Counter Strike(already in A2). Hero skin -
Zombies are spawning much to fast. Clearing areas makes no sense - they respawn like in an arcade game! Very unrealistic. This must be changed.

I think they should make it so that if you close off every entrance into a town with barbwire the game stops spawning infected in that town.This would add gameplay by allowing peeps to takeover a town to farm as a base and of course the bandits can try to rob this from the survivors. -
I like barbwire and feel it should be dangerous.Make it mandatory that you will start bleeding if you vault them.Whats weird is I vault every barbwire I come across and see posts about people not being able to vault them.I also never bleed from them.

I want to see more realistic inventory.Right now we have inventory of a military man as the pics show we hold cans of beans where grenades go.Just give us the ammo/bandages as that would be like holding this stuff in pants and jacket pockets,then everything else goes into your rucksack.

Anyone else not able to play regular arma2 after latest patch.I have disabled dayz in expansion and restart A2 but dayz never gets disabled.If anyone can check if it happens on their game also and post that here it will help out to fix this before next patch release.
