    ARMA 2 SMK Animations

    Question I had that I was just reminded about by this post.Will the Standalone have better character animations?I seen Rocket mention other stuff,and most of it sounds awesome,but no mention of the actual player animations getting changed.This is why I was very sad to see that the standalone would not be on A3.

So tapping space bar is how we will shit?Makes sense considering Rockets way of making the game harsher.My question though is what happens to the people that can't tap fast enough?Will they be irregular compared to people who can tap real fast and will that bring negative consequences? And Please Rocket,make poo piles be like traps.You say your gonna add in all these risks of diseases from players dropping poo all over the major areas.Let it be so that if your walking along and hear a certain sound(like a squish sound would work)then you know that if you look down you will be standing in a pile of poo,upping your chances of infectious disease.Would love to tap a poo pile out in strategic places!!!

Was thinking about the infected today and I thought about these zombie ants that I read about.A just discovered intelligent(??)fungus invades the brain of these certain ants and then controls them to find a good spot so they can then eat the body inside out and a stem or stalk appears out the head of the ants.This got me thinking that it would be kool to use this as the base for the infected.Heres why.... Make it water borne fungus that is in the water supply of Chenarus and so you must boil any drinking water.If you do not you will get infected most likely though antifungals might work to kill the fungus.These fungi grow stalks out of the heads of their host humans and control them to eat other animals to sustain them while the fungi incubates.The reason why they do not eat other infected is that they are already brimming with fungi spores.You could also have the monkey and crawler infected have the telltale forked stems growing out of their heads that explode when near a new host(us players)to allow the fungus to attach to a new body since the one they are occupying is almost dead.This makes sense in their lifeline lore where when you see them low to ground and weak it means the stalks on their heads will explode sending spores your way.Makes them more dangerous than the ones that just want to eat you. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/03/pictures/110303-zombie-ants-fungus-new-species-fungi-bugs-science-brazil/

    Spoiled Meat???

    Rocket is saying that they are trying to make diseases a big part of the survival aspect of Dayz. Great idea about thirst icon going straight to red upon eating salted meat!!
  6. This is because the mod is not balanced yet IMO.It works but it needs tweaks to really become an outstanding game. Matches should be old school style(single stick matches)that you collect into waterproof container as you find them.Should also be risk/percentage chance of failure with each match you use with bad weather increasing the failure rate.Water needs to be boiled so that makes matches even more important.I sometimes play the game with only eating rabbits and boars and can tell you its very hard and very immersive with me actually dying from lack of.Water holes as the only liquid source is also great stuff.To me,Dayz should be made that the apocalypse has been going on for more than a year.Very rare bean,sardines and soda drops means that every town you stumble upon COULD have something you need.Right now I avoid all the small towns I come across.You want players to constantly need something....why give them it all so easy?

    My Hand Shakes

    I was shaken the other day when being chased by 3 thugs for 20 minutes.They kept telling me to drop my weapon and they wouldn't kill me all the while taking single shots at me.My aim was terrible from stress yet it was great fun but and what is even better is when you learn to overcome the shakes and start fighting back effectively.Shakes are a sign of a great game though so enjoy the shakes Padawan.

    My advice is to laugh your ass off as you fight for your life in Chenarus!!!Your starting to associate seeing people with stress and so your hormones are raging and overtime the body will get worse and worse.Try your hardest to laugh and have a good time.;)

    Realistic Ballistic Damage

    Add back in Arma2's shaking effect when wounded as a realistic fix for this.If you get shot you should have a hard time aiming until you get back to a certain blood level.

    24 hour ban if you die and you spawn all over map in secluded woodland areas only.LOL ohhhhh the videos that would make on Youtube!!

I think a rework of hunger to be more realistic is a great idea.Its silly to die from lack of food in one hour.Water is different and should need to be consumed twice a day with increased consumption if you are doing a ton of running.Food on the other hand should not cause death but instead a bunch of annoying effects.Lower blood max level,easier fatigue from running and easier chance to get sick.Then to give Chenarus a more post apocalyptic feel,make food and drink rare and spread everywhere.If they want people to meet in Cherno then keep big cities as ammo/medical hotspots but remove the shopping spree supermarkets filled with foods galore.You want players to feel the deprivation of lack of food and water....then why are they everywhere.The mechanic needs to go more realistic IMO.

    GETTING. INFECTED.

    Maybe tie the chance to get infected with how well you are taking care of yourself.A new food and drink system would need to be added and the temperature of your body made harsher.A more realistic system where you can survive one day without water but where food raises or lowers your health to infection.So if your struggling to find food and hence undernourished then you better not get bitten as your chance for infection rises.And if temps get reworked then making sure you do not get chilled and catch a cold adds to taking care of yourself aspect.

    Experienced survivors (?)

    For me skills would enhance the wanting to live longer.Right now living longer has no push for me and I think a few things might bump this for me.They have to be kinda realistic though. After a set amount of animals killed and gutted you get a hunting perk where the blur/dots on side of screen then become visible.These will help tremendously in finding animals in the woods.;)Could be considered like a woodsman skill and help with hunting but also noticing movement in the woods for any animal. ;) Next is stamina.I swear the devs changed something in 1.7.2.6 since my toon is huffing and puffing like crazy now.I like it but feel that when I walk to catch my breath its like the huffing goes away in a second or two.I think it would be better to have the toon have to walk off the exhaustion for say 60 seconds.Then after one day survival its 30 seconds and after 2 days its instant reduction of the huffing as it stands in game now.But,when huffing I feel the aim should be very erratic to make this gain in fitness a wanted thing that hurts to lose as its annoying to have to walk alot and also not be able to fire weapon as well.So you can still run forever but now you will be huffing and puffing like mad and if you get caught out in an ambush you have to wait a long time to get better aiming ability back.If your in great shape though its the way it is in game right now. Another area that could be a kool effect is when you start making the noises when in panic mode and zeds are nearby.These panic noises should aggro zombies when they are close enough to hear.This way after a set time like 2 days you panic less and so do not cry out like a little bitch and hence will start to believe that your a tough as nails stalker. Medical skill increase(every time you bandage it increases) could be that you then bandage always on first try.To compensate this harsh failure,any bandage attempt starts a slow clotting effect that eventually stops bleeding but you will still lose alot more blood than if you got it the first time around.And blood transfusions give full health every time compared to a chance of screwing up and not getting full health when not adept at it. Mechanical skill increase can have you repair vehicles faster than non skilledl. Hardened constitution could be that you get hungry/thirsty less often and if you go below set blood amount you get a much reduced hand shaking effect from the pain.This weapon shake from pain is not in Dayz but is in Arma2.Its something that Rocket took out of A2 and feel it adds greatly to the feeling of being wounded.Fights being fought when your swaying erratically is great for immersion and getting to the point where you feel less pain would cause real pain if your toon where to die. Back to the hunting and gutting,I think a good way to make it "feel" better is that the steaks you get from an animal have blood boosting stat that raises the more you gut animals.Not drastic but enough to feel a difference.So as skill progresses you find more and more steaks have full 800 blood bonus.Slight annoyance amount though...think like 2 steaks 600blood and the other 2 steaks at 800 etc.

    Energy drinks.

    Stamina system would add alot but do not make it realistic but rather authentic. ;) The heavier you are packed the more you slow down is good but making a person walk after a short while to catch their breath is bad etc.Energy drinks could be used to allow you to run a little faster for an hour or two.Say your AS50 sniper guy is lagging behind,then he can use the drink to keep up better.

    Theres nothing to do in DayZ

    Try Arma2 itself.Even Rocket says that to people here.There are some great times to be had when you give people weapons and gear from start and then task them to go kill each other.

    No more Gamma!!

    I think Rocket should shy away from his idea that annoying players benefits Dayz.What I mean is that if you remove NVG from the game then you open up the possibility for so many players to play on night servers as everyone is now on even ground.Yes having players have HUGE FREAKING BONUSES is annoying but is that really what this game is pushing?You know whats annoying???Playing on a freaking night server even if everyone plays on same level.Heck,not one FPS game annoys players by forcing them to play in dark....let Dayz be the first. ;)
  20. The problem=Players looking for a more realistic experience....the cause=Rocket strives for authentic rather than realistic. It is a game ladada is the argument........could realism be the solution is the question......make some changes=the test :D Dehydration time to death=6 hrs real time Starvation time to death =12hrs real time Harshly cut the spawn rates of foods and drink and have players relying on animals and water sources mainly.Remove the supermarkets as the place to go to fill up. There are people making their own rules on their own servers and I feel they could be the people to try these ideas out.Instead you have servers being setup on lingor and massive weapons everywhere.Its even more PVP orientated and moving towards COD style gameplay.Can some kind soul could do this for us survivalists??

Harshness,I would think that Dayz would give me this feeling but I just do not have it.Maybe Warz will be the survival coop many people want.Dayz will most likely stick to the PVP with zombie background as it works and a huge amount of people love it.Rocket in a recent interview said it well when he pointed out that some people get so attached to their own character in Dayz and those are the people that fall in love with it.Some of us just do not get attached though.Like me as I have no attachment at all to my character even when I have good gear.Could not being materialistic be the reason for this LOL???This is where I hope Warz goes down a road that is dividing alot of fans of this new gamestyle.I just have hope as the video I watched of gameplay has the player with a pistol,sniper rifle and assault rifle.....like Dayz and its putting of huge weapons into backpacks.But these videos are not of the Hardcore mode so I still have some hope.

    They are the women who play as men....the infected hunters as they like to be called.Do not let their sinister image fool you as they spawn from hatred for men and have vaginas which makes them especially dangerous!! ;) Carebearish by nature their true souls emerge once a month on the full moon.Stay alert..........

    Experienced survivors (?)

    Still think a set time of survival (8 hrs played?)where you then get to travel to a better map where the better weapons exist is perfect.I play with no goal and get bored so I look for PVP and don't care at all if I die.I want to feel a need to survive though....a driving force like grinding in MMORPG's but surviving as the flavor.Say Chenarus is where you live for set time and you need to survive here for allotted time with all the shitty weapons.Now to make this work immersion wise.....I was thinking a system where after set time you find a note in a loot pile that gives coordinates to a group that are leaving to a new island and it explains how life is much better there....or so they think. :D You press YES to then travel to the new ChenrausPLUS map and here is where you live with better weapons,more enterable buildings etc etc.It could be a harsher map also temperature wise,less food spawns,more military spawns etc.Stuff to make surviving in the new map just a lot tougher.I really think that a winter look,with trees being leafless and some snow piles strewn around would be enticing....even though I love the woodland look or Chenarus.

    What should be happening during this alpha is us trying out different takes on Dayz. Harsh world where you are forced to constantly loot and you die very easy or is standalone set in its ways and what we see now is what we get.I am not sure if a harsh game world is better for the masses but would like to try it out.And a way to screw the online loot maps is to scatter loot everywhere.Force players to wandering and if they spot a town it then means something.Right now I spot towns and I never ever try to loot them because of super markets and the NWAF.If supermarkets were empty,as they would be in a real life apocalypse,then spotting a new town will force players to have to loot them.But alas its how Dayz plays,seems to be centered on the rush to supermarket then head to military spawns and then PVP.Would it be better to force players to constantly loot and scavenge?.
  25. ^^change it to helicopter solenoids or hydraulic pumps.Why they chose helicopter rotor is beyond me.
