    Great ideas and from what I gather Rocket is making medical even better.BUT what the game really needs to add in is the "getting wounded actually causing your fighting skills to plummet" part of Arma2. "last night I stumble upon a bandit all alone and at dusk.I could barely make him out but I did see his headwrap outline.He is most likely fully geared since he is running around firing and killing infected when I cant even run without bumping into fences and the like.I hate bandits so I target him and fire.He drops and started to move real fast so I kept trying to hit him.2 shots more and he gets to a kneel spots me and just lays waste to me."Again BUT I hit him and he went down in pain.....or so he should have but instead he fights on with 3K blood as if nothing is wrong with him.I should of had the advantage but Dayz doesn't allow this realistic aspect. ;( Sorry,just needed to vent that out.

    Making looting more fun

    Its funny but I always play in the north parts of map steering clear of NWAF area and get bored out of my freaking head.Spreading loot all over the map is something that the standalone will supposedly do but I fear this will make the boredom I have become the norm for most players.The reason why players camp large cities and near spanw points happens for a reason. ;) But what just happened now I feel would take the game over the edge immersion wise.I was playing as I usually do by relying on only animals and well/lake water to survive.Just searching for my next meal on this road that runs along a cavern when suddenly a heli comes down the cavern causing me to scramble for cover.These guys were searching hard as they came back again flying down this cavern I was in increasing my immersion by making me feel like they were hunting me down for reasons unknown.Then suddenly a jeep appears down the road,lights on as darkness was setting and it hit me.....bad people should spawn at NWAF and have access to vehicles and helis as means to spread their murderous intent.You can then spread loot everywhere and have these bad people have access to vehicles to hunt us down.Walking around knowing no one will waste their time running up to the NE area kills immersion but getting sniped is why I do it.But when you force bad people to have to search the map for survivors then you force in the real fact that vehicles are loud and warn in advance of impending doom.

    Dayz needs harsher injury effects IMO.When below 3K you should be moaning/limping etc but food over time should fix you up.When at 1K you should fall down in pain and the only cure being a blood transfusion or a morphine shot.

    Reworking Sniping for realism and gameplay

    Love the ideas.Sadly some have been suggested way back when Arma2 first came out.One was the way you can walk around with a heavy machine gun or sniper extended out with little effort.The players were asking for heavy weapons to drop down after a certain time and tied in with stamina....of course stamina should be terrible if your traveling with a sniper rifle.Could be slung on back for less stamina loss and maybe a lot of shake when walking with it extended to give some negatives for it.Its got a huge advantage and one thing that makes games great is when things have advantages and disadvantages.

    Love it and feel the pics are a huge step in right direction.The glass looks way better also and now I am impatient to see the improved lighting effects indoors.Just one thing that I hope you guys will do .....please make the food spawns more believable.I do not see pantry cabinets added in to the kitchens and just see a firestove and a fridge.I wonder if a closet to hold canned goods is more normal in Chenarus?Maybe a few suicides with people hanging themselves from rafters of laid down in beds with sleeping pills on night stands.;)

    Forgot to add......if you drop down food and drink spawns drastically(most important is supermarkets)you also need to remove the bloodloss when hunger icon is blinking since most players will die after a few hours.Instead,if your hunger icon is blinking it means you are starving and so health will not increase till you eat.Also you will lose no blood so you can go forever without food.Hydration though is different where you will die if you have nothing to drink.So drinks to prevent bloodloss and food to build back any health you do lose(at 1000 blood per hour).Maybe have canned foods drop the hunger icons faster than a nice juicy steak.This pushes food and drink as main drive in surviving and since everything is severely reduced.....YOU WILL MOST LIKELY DIE!!! LOL love that phrase from Project Zomboid game and feel that making Dayz so that you will die in a few days could make for some great struggles.I feel this would make Dayz be a more realistic type simulation of how would you actually survive.Just a hunch but I feel it would fit better for people trying to RP as you now have to constantly be on the move from town to town looking for consumables.

    Xaden,I think a way to make a server more geared for RP is to make surviving harsher as the main draw.There are some private hives that are starting to reduce spawns but its more towards weapons.I think a good server would be.... Food spawns should be very low and same with drinks.Get rid of the one stop shopping feel of supermarkets and load them with empty cans. Add in blood regeneration when hunger icon is not blinking at 1000 blood per hour. Double the thirst icon blinking "time to death" to allow you to find watering holes here and there(mark your map!) and make maps easy to find in most supermarkets and gas stations. Get rid of cows and make animals that spawn the type that would be able to run from the infected,rabbits etc!! This will foster a whole new way of playing Dayz.End the spawn and run to gear up as fast as you can mindset and instead spawn and start trying to last as long as you can.You wanna be near death and having to constantly move from town to town searching. Oh and reduce the run speed to jogging.This to me is a big immersion killer when I press W and just run full steam ahead for 1/2 hour.Then change sprint so that when you do sprint it is as fast as running is right now and slows down to jogging after a minute or two.I would then speed up the infected so that they could catch you if your jogging.This way to escape you can sprint and have to do things like time your escape paths properly.

    Oh hell yes!!! And with Dayz getting temp overhaul then spawning in a winter map will have you having to deal with different strategy than a summer months map.

I asked for this in past with Arma2 but was shot down.Ok,playing with no cross hair is great but you could just mark your LCD screen and never have to use iron sights.I suggest that a simple crosshair be implemented but when you shoot weapon without using the sights the dispersion stat is greatly increased.Arma2 folks said NO NO NO and that Arma2 weapons shoot where they point and adding in dispersion is just NO.But having a crosshair is just better since we do in real life have a way to judge where we are looking and to raise weapons up to shoot we need the crosshair as reference. Should be able to find oil in all the cabins we are entering that when combined with wood and cloth scraps can make torches. Be able to use a pistol at same time with a torch or flash light.Upgrade is the already suggested headlamps that now allow you to use rifles. Again I posted this in Arma2 forum but was greeted with the NO response.Have weapons drop down to a ready position whenever the player moves.Not all the way down as when you raise/lower weapon but somewhere in between so you still see the weapon in 1st person but its low onscreen.to raise you press fire once.When moving and you want to keep the weapon up just press fire and it stays up.Oh and this also applies to pistols.One time I got a bug where my pistol was lowered to my side but when I fired my weapon the sound and ammo fired was from the AKM slung on my back.So this shows that the animation for lowered pistols is there in Arma2 but taken out for a reason.Maybe fix this?

Sounds great Vent.I agree that realism is a subject that needs attention as it can make or break a game quickly.Its probably a person to person division where some like realism and some like authentic.Look at flight sims out nowadays that you need to put in 3 days just to learn how to navigate.LOL most people cringe at that but a few people thrive and love it. Good luck with this and I will email you for a spot to join if you let me. :lol:
  15. Wow,this private server stuff could be what we "purists" are looking for.How is the spawn rates in this server? I envision a Dayz experience way different than what Dayz is like.I like to think of it as realistic instead of authentic as Rocket says.Trouble is that realistic would turn many people off.Some ideas for my ultimate Dayz. Use a pistol and then crouch/run.......This should be the normal travel speed and mimics jogging speed in real life of which a survivor would do to get around.This instantly makes me way more immersed into the world and I start noticing the trees/grass/buildings around me and feel connected to the land.When I stand up and run my mindset changes and I start thinking ahead so that I lose that feeling of being in Chenarus.Its something I learned from reading a car racing book yrs back.As speed increases the mind will start to disregard its surroundings and think/look ahead so to speak.By using a pistol(slower than crouch running with a rifle)and crouch running the world also "feels" huge.Suddenly the trip up to NWAF seems daunting instead of the still annoying full speed sprint it is now.Just going to next town is a hike yet its immersive and annoying which seem to compliment each other when I am noticing the land I am in.Try it yourself and see what I mean(if you wanna run just press stand and crouch to go back to jog).Makes finding a bike/vehicle an amazing feeling.LOL Its funny how I loved watching old Sidestrafe Dayz vids on Youtube when he first started.I now realize it was because he was crouch running and that immersed me and his newer videos he sprints around and I quickly lose interest. Next is spawn rates should be reduced to extreme levels.A few nights ago I respawned in Chenarus at 5pm and headed north (crouch/running of course).This server I entered was very strange and I did not find a weapon for a full 4 hours.I mean nothing to where it was not even empty cans spawning.I got lucky that I found a few cans of food and soda but not much so that I was constantly worried.I lucked out at 2 hours time and I had a hatchet but no knife.I found a knife at same time as the Makarov at 4 hours in.What was strange is that I never have been so immersed into a game in my life.I was near the NWAF and figured there would be weapons there but not one in any of the spawn spots.And then I spot a lone person running out of a barrack.He had a pistol and I thought of my now reduced clip size of 6 bullets and actually hid behind a bush and just let the person disappear into the night(btw its a full moon server and that is great!!) ;) This got me thinking that maybe all the people that say that reduced spawn servers would just increase murder rates never thought of a realistic spawn server.Where you find a weapon and its like gold and when your ammo runs out your screwed and scavenging for hours.This would change peoples mindset I believe to instead of a PVP server with rapid lifespans to one where people are alive for days struggling along the whole time. Stuff like matches being two use items but spawn everywhere,maps with high spawn rates at gas stations and super markets,knives being way more common and food/drink way less so you need to rely on the land for food and drink.If you happen upon a can of food or soda though its precious to get you thru hard times. Just what I think is perfect but most likely its just me....anyone else think this would be good? :)
  16. If Rocket does what he says then just to have NVG and L85's means diddly since batteries will be rare.He just needs to find a really good battery spawn rate to make these items not always work.Would be kool to be playing at night and suddenly your NVG's go out. :P

    Forget the weightlifting part,what would suck is carrying around all the food in your backpack.8 lean steaks,some steroid syringes and a gallon of water would be normal gear for Dayz bodybuilders.......

    Allow them to follow you thru buildings at speed and to not get so easily disorientated by bushes and trees.When you aggro it should be a FUCK SHIT moment.If you aggro one and then make a bad choice and run into a group of infected....you screwed up and you should have to kill them all.Better melee animations and the crossbow will be your plan of attack as they are silent.I also think that when one spots you it screams as its running towards you alerting other infected in a radius around it.Of course the infected should run straight at you making killing them easier to compensate.And since they run straight at you they should hit harder if you allow them to get close. :D

    Wait WTF are u suggesting?I am willing to pay for the alpha standalone and your saying I can't play it.Then I won't buy it till its fully developed?I doubt that is what Rocket said when he mentioned following the Minecraft model.

    Hunting; a revamp

    If Rocket is going for a harsher survival feel then very slow blood regen only when fed would enhance the feel.Remove the blood loss when hunger icon is blinking and make eating a thing the players have to do to try to get as much blood back as possible before next encounter.Depends though on what type game Dayz will eventually become.If its just PVP fest than just leave it as is since you will be on low blood after surviving awhile and even makarovs will be deadly.This could very easily make people get so frustrated and suicide themselves when at low health. As for hunting,I would get rid of the cows since they seem silly walking by a group of infected people who are starving.Keep rabbits and add in deer and moose.Also fix the boar animations so that when they spot you they take off like a banshee.I think there would be a very fun game in just hunting animals if they were hard to shoot and sensed when your around unless your very stealthy.

    What about a sort of realistic zombification then.Look up zombie ants in google.A fungus that takes over the brains of these ants and then makes them move to specific places so that they can kill the ant and eat its body inside out.What is kool is the ants sprout branch like appendages out of their heads before they are about to be completely consumed.These branches then shoot spores out to try to infect other ants.Would make crawlers,who are on the final leg of their zombification,get the creepy disgusting branches sticking out of their head and they wait in silence in grass for the unsuspecting players to walk by.Make entering towns just that much harsher.     Best Weapon for a Hero?

    Best weapon of a hero is a BIG HEART!!To be the ultimate carebear is to be a hero IMO.I laughed so hard when I saw this video the other day.It just reminded me of Carebears,Bronies and the like running around Cherno bandaging people up with nothing in return but a thank you and a smile.If I was Rocket I would of made the hero skin look like the leader of this video be sure.

    Battle Royale: Survival Program Mod

    For me the ultimate spinoff from Dayz will be a post-apoc Stalker like game.When I modded my own game I made it so that you had no medkits to heal yourself and medkits were only to bandage you up.You went on a mission and hoped you made it back to camp where a doc would heal you and the character would save.So many times I would be literally limping back to base with a pack of blind dogs off in distance and just feeling that this is how games should feel.The thing for me that was holding it back was the small maps and knowing that over this hill is a nest of mutants or a bandit camp ruined that freeplay exploration feel.Chenarus,with its great feeling to get lost in it is perfect.Radiation and anomolies everywhere,creepy as fuck underground labs and Stalker camps to see a doctor and save your game will be the ultimate game ever IMO.Add in money and ability to level up by buying better and better equipment to allow you to go further and further into the zone. ;)
  24. I think just making the sound files for silenced weapons non-3D will suffice.Could be that it already is and no one has noticed yet that you can't tell what direction silenced shots are coming from.Anyone know if you can tell where silenced weapon fire from?
