Get rid of all the sniper rifles

Finally, something constructive has come out of this thread!! Check this out, my solution to add to the end game. Community built minigames on an ingame console.. They can be used as currency as the higher rated games become rare. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38928-community-minigames-a-form-of-currency/

Get rid of all the sniper rifles

DayZ. Sorry, but, that's your cue to leave. I understand this is a recurring issue for some people. Why didn't they learn their lesson the first time? --- Honestly guys, why do threads like this get more attention than some of the most awesome ideas?
  3. Haplo (DayZ)

Prevent other Players from stealing from you

I think there should be a zip noise when people look into your pack. It's your fault if you don't catch them after that.

    Alcohol in DayZ

A simple suggestion really: Alcohol, when consumed, slightly reduces the chance of needing painkillers, at the cost of blurriness, a slight sway on the iron sights and losing blood quicker (alcohol is a blood thinner). Excess consumption leads to increased sway > dizziness > vomiting > passing out*1 which further reduces (slightly) the chance of needing painkillers, but increases the duration of this effect*2. --- *1 Perhaps you can slowly build up a tolerance to these side effects. *2 Perhaps this is only effective against zombies, but not bullets.*3 *3 Perhaps this effect covers low calibre weapons, but to a lesser extent than zombies. Pros: I like to drink. I get a fresh empty bottle to pelt at zombie's head. I might use one less pack of painkillers. Cons: I'll be hammered all the time, survivors might be harder to shoot. EDIT: as if Chernarus isn't full of grog.. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38928-community-minigames-a-form-of-currency/ <- This.

    Alcohol in DayZ

Valid! Maybe this comes before the effect on pain, but is lost with more sips. Consumption rate/drunkenness should be relative to the average real life person.

    Alcohol in DayZ

Ahh woops... I've been crawling through here for ages, I thought I would have seen it  Edit: Wilks, I considered that myself, but thought it might be a bit too overpowered then? At the most though, I still want to be ripped to shreds by LMGs and anti-material snipers.

    Community Minigames

This is the apocalypse and you're gonna live like a caveman if you even manage to establish a base? Ahh...yes /endbitch (EDIT: This is the apocalypse so I'm going to establish myself, and become a trader in precious commodities, if DayZ let's me, and I just killed 42 people in 2 weeks, on a single character, so don't worry, I won't be bunking down too heavily.) I just spent 18 days in Chernarus, and I found myself wanting to die by the end of it, when I died a glitchy death. I was keeping on top of ammo, but I wasn't too lucky with vehicles, and PvP didn't give me the adrenaline rush that it used to. Once you have survived, what are you going to do in real life? Set up tents, horde vehicles, nom beans, and pin down players telling 'em you're videoing so they don't fucking DC ? Don't get me wrong, that is wicked fun, but by about day 5 or so the adventure became a little stale. 2 weeks later, I was ready to die, so I practically gave some scrub on the coast the highest tier gear. Personally, if this situation went down I would establish safety and comfort pretty quickly. Rocket has mentioned a desire to go underground, I'm trying to suggest a way to make this desirable. So I'm back on the beach, wish a fresh sense of adventure, and after an hour and a half in Cherno, I'm pretty well geared (ak kobra, alice pack, survival gear and meds), I've fended off 2 bandits, and taken sniper fire. The adrenaline was pumping again, I had to survive. I know that soon, the game will start feeling a bit stale again, but I'll still be playing for hours every night anyway. If you have a problem with this idea, try critiquing it or making it suit you. 'Cos right now, this game lacks long term playability, unless you're dying often. That said, this is why we have a suggestion forum, not to make yourself feel 1 up on everybody else. Perhaps you would like to start a thread suggesting ways to add interest to the endgame, or haven't you got that far? And be honest dude, would you respond to me like that if I just met you at the pub? 'Cos I'd probably burr up hey (depending on the extremes)... Why all the hate, Internet? (yes, I am a hypocrite) This game has the potential to create a world where we recreate our lives. Which, showing the number of people that have supported this alpha, is being pushed for by gamers. I'm excited for DayZ's future, and a suggestion like this could really (and perpetually) involve the community, which is exactly what Rocket wants to do. EDIT: moofactory, perhaps you might provide 1 or 2 reasons why this is a bad idea? Otherwise I'd simply suggest viewing this loot much as you would an empty tin can.
  8. i'd love to see this!
  9. http://trollable.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Just-LMAO.jpg here, you can have some sympathy beans kid..
  10. wow aversionfx, possibly the dumbest response i have ever seen.. do you act like such a bitch irl too? nice idea OP. could bring a pretty cool element to the game.. quite realistic too, even home-made teargas is relatively easy to craft.. i hope we still have google if/when shit goes down :(
  11. Haplo (DayZ)

Which map would you like to see for dayz?

i'd like to see a DayZ map, fuck the old ArmA maps.. i'd suggest: a map where the cities are absolutely crawling with zombies, unsafe unless you're geared with silent weapons. a smaller map so that the population density is much higher a loot system that woks with the map ie. knives can be found in kitchens more vehicles (mainly pushbikes) wandering zombies and zombie hordes valleys/gorges with natural rock caves/formations i'm sure there are heaps of other great suggestions, but the best suggestion of all would be: why limit yourself to maps that are already years old? this game has attracted such a large community (very quickly) that surely there are multiple people who can helpe with map design and integration i like chernarus, but i think it's potential is very limited

    Get Rid of heart beat

if a zombie apocalypse happened, and you need anything like this to differentiate friendlies from bandits, you won't live long. if you get killed by a bandit, and didn't put up a fight, you aren't playing properly. the current system, or any other system to differentiate survivors and bandits, is lame. the only reasonable way to start distinguishing between bandits and survivors, is customizable clothing (obviously this won't happen soon). then it's at the players discretion if they look like a bandit or not, but just like real life, you never know who you can trust +1 @ OP

    Give me 'dem teeth

sickest idea.. i'd like to see the something similar with murders
  14. Haplo (DayZ)

    Items destroyed by shooting

that's a sweet idea. it would be cool if you could knock people out with a melee to rob them..

Hiding Bodies fix to be fair.

you quoted me yourself: "for starters". i was going to say; it should completely lock the gear from the player that it died with, for perhaps, 24 hours? this ban would transfer across servers, but if you manage to get your gear back from an opponent after that, you can keep it. if there was some kind of friend system i would also suggest that gear cannot be given to you by friends. you can have some pity beans for the failed troll..
  16. Haplo (DayZ)

Hiding Bodies fix to be fair.

if you want hiding bodies to be fair, for starters: people shouldn't be able to loot their own body i like the shovel/bury idea, but you should be able to carry or drag bodies too.. i'd also like to use the shovel (or hatchet/whatever) to just smash the sht out of all their gear... i probably wouldn't even bother burying the body
  17. Haplo (DayZ)

    A possible small addition..

this idea is wicked. i sometimes get ticked off even when friendlies look in my pack (depending who it is). it's a zombie apocalypse after all :D. an auditory cue would be nice so i can tell them to fk off, but this would have benefits in other areas too. i think the noise should aggro zombies, but it should only have an audible range of 2-3 metres at most. perhaps right click clicking your own pack, could give you the option of opening silently, but there would be a short time delay to account for stealth.. if you open someone elses pack though, it should always play the noise.. there is no way you could open someones pack irl without them noticing
  18. Haplo (DayZ)

    Hats

    custom faces would be cooler
  19. Haplo (DayZ)

    Roaming Military

i understand the intentions behind you're idea, but i think this is the wrong approach. an alternative idea that would still return a similar result, is having a higher population density (ie. smaller map), and some random, isolated zed spawns.
  20. Haplo (DayZ)

    Roaving Zeds

we need something like this to keep us on our toes when running through the woods. all that is required is some more zombie spawns in random, isolated areas, in say groups of 10-15
  21. Haplo (DayZ)

    yet another fix for bandits...

i didn't even bother reading past page 1, but seriously guys; why do flame threads get so much more attention than some threads that could really improve the games playability. why not put the effort into being constructive? i can guarantee that most of you wouldn't act like such dicks to someone you met in real life..

Sleeping: A Solution to Ending D/Cing

pupkin i was unsure whether to make this audible to zombies, though visual cues should remain the same as say, someone crouched, and then prone. again, this rewards players who DC honestly, as they can cancel the animation how long should the animation last?

Sleeping: A Solution to Ending D/Cing

Great post Browie, I've considered this myself. What do you think of these additions?: +along with the animation, there is audio of the player rolling out a sleeping bag, getting in, and doing up the zip are played, so others in close proximity can hear you getting into bed. being able to cancel the animation is necessary, as an added bonus for honestly disconnecting pros: -the actions of rolling out the sleeping bag and getting in to bed should be pretty quiet, then zip up the sleeping bag a little louder. as such, the trained ear will know what is happening, and then the zip noise is much more distinguishable, so even though you have less time to act, you still know. -encourages people to find a safe spot to hit the hay, as others may hear you going to bed and rush you. this is simple, and much more realistic for a survival situation. although you basically log off as normal, you just don't want to be in earshot. cons: -this audio could be used as bait by groups, although, i think that could encourage some sneaky gameplay. -those who honestly had their net drop would still suffer any consequences, as they are forced to play the animation +when someone drops using alt+f4, they are forced to play the animation, and are unable to retaliate pros; -further punishes those who wish to DC during combat -further encourages people to log off safely cons: -those who had their net drop suffer further +when logging in to the server, you must 'wake up'; you unzip the sleeping bag, get out, then roll it up. sounds are played as well pros: -further encourages sleeping in a safe/isolated location to avoid being killed upon spawn -can help to prevent people server hopping for an advantage in position, though this may not be effective over longer range cons others close by can hear you spawn. to counter help counter this, you can lie in your sleeping bag before getting up, to avoid alerting others to your position. as such, this is just the same as if someone actually came across you sleeping the sleeping bag would be in your toolbelt upon spawn. same as harvesting wood and everything, you engage the animation via your inventory. once you are 'asleep' inside the sleeping bag, you can safely esc>abort with no further penalty. those who simply press esc>abort or alt+f4 suffer the consequences of not being there to cancel the animation, and engage the enemy if they are sprung. unfortunately this still punishes those who simply have their net drop (i think, i'm not too sure how all that shit works) still, they can still log back in asap and try save their character, though here there must be restrictions on 'waking up' in the same server whether you disconnect through the inventory/menu or alt+f4, the animation takes the same length. those who disconnect honestly can retaliate, the timer must be started again however. EDIT: @Scerun: do you have any suggestions for how this could be improved for long distance? i realize my idea has flaws here. what kind of range should the audio be heard over? @ DeadManDan: if you are right, this may not be possible. i feel the animation adds the element of sleep in a practical, non intrusive way

    Make bicycles MORE common

great post. spawn points should be boosted dramatically, but you shouldn't be able to fix the bike with car tyres. 'owned' bike should despawn every two days (15 minutes after being used if you're riding it at the time). despawning is the same as the bike being stolen really, so it's not a big deal..
