so you don't like it guys? don't participate!! just leave recreating the world to the people that will actually survive :) -
Mousing over a road sign should show the text in English.
Haplo (DayZ) replied to Flying Mathias's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, that is what games call a tutorial. You should try correlating the 'picture' of the words with your position. This, on top of some half learned geography skills are how you navigate IRL, so I see no need for this to be introduced in any servers other than perhaps beginner... -
Not sure what that last question was targeting, but i'll play Russian roulette! Real life if you want?

Chernarus street art competition

Which is precisely why I suggested this be a competition, with a winner. If you don't like graffiti, you won't enjoy my haven in the post-apocalypse. :P -
End Game - Things to make you group up.

And how stupid Rick Grimes is :D Chucking a link to this page in my sig for sure.. -
Not gonna bother reading all these posts, and it's probably already been said, but nothing will be done about this till the game is at least beta. I'm pretty sure the dev team is well-aware of these issues, and I voted, but this is kinda pointless. Not only that, but it seems all the care bears are voting! Zombies currently don't pose a threat..

End Game - Things to make you group up.
Haplo (DayZ) replied to oosk@btinternet.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
OP, I read the first response to your post, and decided to disregard all the rest, though, his last sentence (Sometimes, starting over is more of a relief than anything) is spot on. The endgame grows quite stale at the moment, when all you have to do is kill people till you're blue in the face. I have the same problem with this game at the moment. I can run like a psycho through a city, in/topped up with medical supplies and whatever else we needed/out quickly/no consequence. I didn't need to even shoot cos I had silenced cover and overwatch. BS. Cities should be next to impenetrable. Zombies should actually pose a very serious threat. To the point where (depending on your playing style, or if you might put yourself in harms way) you may actually help some random. Rather then just plug them cos you don't care. Here I'd like to add to your initial suggestion; The city should be much bigger than Chern or Elektro, and have a variety of different places to get loot. Some of the enterable buildings should be multi story (could have catwalks), and there should be underground/covered carparks. There should be plazas and malls, basically, just make it cool for shootouts and overrun with zombies. At the centre of the city could be a fortified army barracks, with higher tier loot (perhaps underground, making it harder to access and escape, and thick with military zeds). Power tools are required to access secure areas at the cost of noise that should aggro zeds. Player spawning should be disabled in and near this location. It would also be cool to see players able to fortify places such as banks, and set up those anti spawn radio towers (which also disables zeds spawning in a small radius). The doors to the bank/whatever can be locked by the player that has claimed it, But can still be accessed by power tools when the user is offline. I made a suggestion of my own, though this is something to make bases more desirable to establish: In short, these items are added to the loot system: a couch/chair, a TV, a retro console, controllers, power/av cables, (I'm pretty sure Rocket already wants to include) generators, and game cartridges. All these items are required to set this up. Chairs/couches need a ute to be moved The idea is that the DayZ community is the source of these minigames. A feature could be implemented to the forum in which users rate the games. Highly rated games become extremely rare, to the point that if you want a game, you may have to trade say 4 or 5 of the highest tier weapons, with ammo for all, just to get that game. This would encourage people to tackle to the high value military spawns, which in this city, carries a higher risk of death. I think it's a cool idea to help stop the game getting stale, and just so you know, I just killed 42 people in 2 weeks, on one life, without being a DC whore, so I won't be bunking down too heavily to play video games. Subtle elements really define that which is, or isn't a successful game. If the apocalypse happened, one of the most precious items for me would be video games, and I doubt anyone that is on this forum would be much different, in the long run at least... If you want to check out that thread at all, you can find it here: http://dayzmod.com/f...rm-of-currency/ It hasn't had much positive feedback yet... -
Wait... what? You want endgame goals to be escaping this thing? The ultimate end game would be that Chernarus is the last living place on earth. The zombie population would continue to rise as the scent of flesh carries on the wind. I'll be having hot showers and decent meals. You enjoy your worldly quest :) That second post is a little more realistic, although, it's not like there are dense populations of body builders, and as zombies continue to sustain damage from fleshrot and walking, they are not likely to get faster. This is an infection though right? Perhaps the infection has the ability to mutate muscle and bone tissue.. (something like [Prototype]?)

Not sure if bad troll, or just stupid... The Walking Dead could have been good. It has a good budget and the zombies look great. You're right in one respect. It does have 'all the concepts that would actually happen between people', if those people are a bunch of half brained idiots who don't know how to care for themselves. They just spent 2 seasons fighting amongst themselves over the dumbest shit, they have made no moves to gather decent resources, and they've been camping in tents feeling sorry for themselves with little more protection than standard farm fencing. If it wasn't a TV show, these people wouldn't be alive. I didn't say GTA sucked. What I wanted to imply is that in the most successful games, subtlety is key. What loss? No one has provided constructive criticism or reasons why this shouldn't be implemented in the game, apart from perhaps the desire to keep this game a generic sandbox deathmatch with a few zombies here and there. Oh and btw, if any apocalypse happened, or an opposing force invaded my country, buried on my grandfathers property I have a 4WD with jerry cans, a generator, food, tools and medical supplies already packed inside. Next to that is another container with an ex-rally hatchback (roll cages, suped up enginge, blah blah) with more fuel, some food, basic tools and a first aid kit. The other halves of both containers are packed with numerous other necessities. I'm not bluffing, I'm a paranoid schizophrenic survivalist, and I'm okay with that. If nothing ever happens, the sense of comfort (and the joy I had setting these up) is immense. Also, knowing that my (future) kids, and their kids will have access to this stuff if the need arises, gives me satisfaction, in that I will have done the best I can to take care of them. There are many reasons to want to be prepared for disaster. Take a quick browse through this forum and you will see the hate and growing unrest which is shared all over the internet. Politically and socially, our world is completely fucked at the moment and it wouldn't surprise me if the apocalypse came from ourselves.. There has been growing tension between some smaller warring countries, and in time I'm sure a bigger player will step in. But this is something of an iceberg, and I don't want to go into detail. Although this isn't on the list of "actual" threats for me, you shouldn't discount a zombie apocalypse either. There are parasites, fungi, and a range of diseases with the ability to take control of a host and cause what we know as a zombie mentality. Currently this is something that affects smaller animals like rats, fish, whatever, but pathogens can mutate rapidly and adapt to a different host and suit a different purpose. Again: "this isn't on the list of "actual" threats for me." In most respects, zombies would actually be a lot easier to handle than other apocalyptic scenarios. If your initial response to this thread is 'NOOOOOOOO', then please, write at least a single sentence why. If this is a feature you don't want to use, then either don't pick up the loot, or say why this feature detracts from the game. If you're scared that this loot will reduce the chance of you getting a weapon, then uhh, not my problem, but perhaps you could suggest a new loot category gets implemented, for all the new items that will be put into DayZ. I might just quote myself here:

FlatulentRemedies, first of all, Walking Dead is a shit TV show full of dumb people that make stupid decisions consistently. I had a lot of hope for that show, but it sucked. If that's where you getting your ideas from, good luck hey. In real life; yes, I will waste every drop of my solar panels to play as many hours of video games as I want. Fuel is obvious precious but I'll assume you're not aware of the alternatives. Rocket has stated he wants to introduce generators, I'm trying to suggest a practical way to make them worthwhile. Papaya, if you read my posts, you would have noticed that I had survived, and the endgame of DayZ currently grows quite stale. I love surviving, but after you're fully geared, this game doesn't have much else to offer, other than being a sandbox FFA with scattered zombies. A waste of time and resources? Well I also mentioned that the games could come from the community, so implementing the other features is relatively hassle free. If a game is boring, don't play it. If the community got behind this idea we could have fresh games coming in all the time. And wait... What? Isn't GTA one of the most successful franchises? This game needs a reason for people to want to play it over a generic FPS. Survival means living in spite of the circumstances; if shit goes down, I have plans to live quite comfortably. You'll be jealous when you don't even have a deck of cards.. On top of that, an idea like this helps add to the weight of character death (it sucks when someone kills you for your makarov, doesn't it? ;) ). Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ. That, or keep trying to flame, and add to the problem that is the internet.. Edit: I'd like to feed the other trolls, but this post was getting lengthy, so they can have some beans Fuck I wish the apocalypse would just happen.. >:( I'll be livin' the high life while your still running around near the beach. I'm a survivalist, and my plan neglects dealing with little scrubs. The only concern you would cause me is whether or not to bloody my knife. One day... :(

^Uncharted is a perfect example of how this could work, 'parkour' is a far stretch. I've thought myself that I should be able to climb something higher than a 3 foot fence. Even in real life I can do that shit.

Nice. I have been shut down by a 15 year old. Really, all I wanted to post was "lol", but that would make my comment as null and void as yours. Can someone please tell my why this is a bad mechanic or an irrelevant idea to the DayZ scenario? Do it right, and I'll drop the subject. IMO this is a completely realistic factor that exists if shit goes down, unless perhaps, the entire world is ready to reject technology so they can live a mundane existence. Is my perception warped? Just trying to think of methods to involve the community in a realistic and enjoyable way. For me, this game needs more long term playability. Surviving a zombie apocalypse is not getting geared up, killing a few zeds, then hunting players till you're blue in the face. It extends beyond that; establishing a safe/comfortable environment and a functioning society (be it a group of 10 bandits, a horde of survivors, whatever. Even a hermit needs a place to sleep). This game doesn't do much for me after the first few days of a character. I know Rocket has some great ideas he wants to implement, but if he wanted to please little scrubs like yourself he'd tidy up a few glitches and release the game now.

Simple suggestion, as titled. Poison is easily obtainable in a real life situation, but the frequency would have to be toned back a lot of course... New guy just tagged on you don't like? Someone fucked you around earlier and you don't want to deal with them? "I'll cook!!" A nasty little surprise for someone who raids your tent too. This idea is more aimed at the future, when/if factions and etc. ever exist.

I SEARCHED a wide range of different terms before I made this thread. Wear wurr le rezolts? EDIT: I just searched again, and found a few different posts. Yesterday I was returning absolutely nothing, my surch funktion mustn't have been working. I'm sorry :( The front page of items changes , you gimp! (Edit: I was surprised when after 15 minutes of searching, I found no relevant posts, that is why I went ahead and made this thread.)

Flatulent, have you realized how stale the current version of DayZ gets once you're fully geared and have spent 3 weeks running around killing people? As I posted before, I wanted to die so I could experience the rush of trying to survive again. I've never heard this suggested before, so how could I know that it will NEVER be introduced into a great game like DayZ? If an apocalypse happened, (unless you get off on bashing rocks together) video games are going to become one of the most precious things, after weapons and survival. Why would I sit in a bunker? Chances are, I've just run out of food on my hunt, so I've headed back to my bunker to cook some (which I have stockpiled) and spend 5 minutes chilling out. This is a completely realistic way to help improve long term goals of the game, and creates potential for a variety of different mechanics. Example: "I will give the highest scoring player on X game a DMR and NVGs" Winner is announced. "Meet me here" Winner gets ripped to shreds with an AS50 (Yes, I am that type of person) As I suggested already it would be cool if there was some kind of feature in the forums (or somewhere) where users can rate the video games. Highly rated video games become so rare that the trade value might be up to 3 or 4 of the highest tier weapons, with plenty of ammo for each. Trust me bro, I'll be collecting food and weapons. Give me an underground base and I'll be loaded with all the highest grade military gear, and have stockpiles of food (which is unnecessary really). If the future of DayZ let's me, I'm gonna be a trader, and I'll be sitting in a much more comfortable position than you. If you think this is a bad idea, please inform me why that is, rather than just jumping on the hate train like most other people in this forum. In response to your last statement, I'd like to see every weapon from ArmA2 available in DayZ, with an ammo system that corresponds (ie. crafting magazines from empty mags and the right calibre bullets from other mags), I'd like to see so many zombies in the cities a little scrub like you couldn't step foot inside without getting torn to shreds. As for pissing and shitting? Well, finding a nice safe spot to hide while I run to the loo is real enough for me. To be honest, I can't understand any reason to hate on this mechanic other than that people will be butt hurt when they are too bad at the game to put the pieces all together. This is a zombie apocalypse, therefore it is all about reestablishing yourself, not sprinting everywhere infinitely to find the next kill and the next can of beans. That said, what server do you play on? I'd love to sit your punk ass down with my 50 cal. Until then, have these beans, you probably need them (Edit: just saw you started a thread asking if alt+f4 actually saves you, and made other posts saying alt+f4ers shouldn't get banned. I'll be taking those beans back). Edit: Have you seen the prices retro video games fetch these days? It's huge. Why? Because they won't be reproduced. What does that mean for the apocalypse? Work it out.
